BackWords: A Backwards Word List for Gamers
Anyone who plays word games knows the frustration of needing a five letter word than ends in “z” or any word that ends in “q”, but absolutely nothing comes to mind. Consult a traditional dictionary and you’ll find words that begin with a given letter. But where do you go to find all the words that end with a given letter? Until now, it's been up to your own, hopefully fertile imagination.
With this digital edition of BackWords (there’s also a paper edition), if you need a three letter word that ends in “r”, simply click on “r” in the table of contents to find all the words ending in “r”, starting with two-letter words. Do the same for any other letter.
The way we play games as a family, we allow dictionaries so that we expand our vocabularies. Competitive gamers will likely find themselves memorizing words that they’re likely to need in the future, such as the three letter word that ends in “q.”
