After graduating college, I spent three years trying to find a job—each interview ending in rejection, often because of my disability. Instead of giving up, I chose to build something of my own. I founded Purple Diamond Press, and today, our award-winning children’s books teach kindness, diversity, and inclusion in schools across the nation. What started as rejection has grown into a mission to inspire the next generation to see every child as capable, valuable, and worthy.

Elisha and Arianna are best friends and know how to have fun together. In Harris's new book Seen, the pair of friends do so many fun things together in one day, such as riding their bikes together around Feather Town to the flower shop, the pastry store, and to get ice cream. With a few mishaps and laughs along the way, it becomes a heart-warming story that ends with the friends affirming their friendship as best friends. The message of this book is that friendship allows each person to potentially be seen or viewed for who we deeply are at the core.

The author wrote this story because she wanted children to see a story where they were seen unlike how she sometimes felt pushed aside and unnoticed when she was a child. The book also teaches unconditional love for the people we choose to name our best friends in life. This book is a great one to add to a library if looking for a book that discusses friendship, self-esteem, and connection with others.

We all need to be seen

A beautifully illustrated book that perfectly portrays true friendship. Everybody deserves to be seen! Sometimes, all it takes is one person to recognise and support you.

A day out

Ariana and Elisha go exploring around town from the bakery to the flower shop to the pond. Sometimes Ariana gets overlooked because of her disability but her best friend has her back. I really loved the art and this story has a powerful message.
