The computer narrator on the last 2 audiobooks is killing me. On top of the horrendous mispronunciations and grammatical errors, this book felt like it was written using poor AI. There are so many repeat phrases and metaphors, it’s hard to feel like there’s a legitimate story going on.
This one felt off to me, mostly because Ella and Mia are at odds and spend 99% of the book apart. They work so well together and are friends, so it sucks what they are going through. It also makes sense. Mia is having to face knowing what Martin did and how she didn't see it, something that is hard for a woman like her. Yet even as hard as it is for her, she did what she needed to when it was most needed. It will be interesting to see where this friendship/partnership goes from here.
The case Ella worked on with Luca was crazy! I think the most crazy part is how much I could sympathize with the bad guy. It's easy to see why/how it all started after being screwed over like that. Yes it was over the top, but I think a lot of people could/will relate. In the end, there are so many losers and not many winners in this situation.
On a side note, I loved Mia's comment to Ella about Luca. So funny and true!
I listened to this and although I said the series isnt great THIS ONE was the worst audio book ive ever heard!! The hyperbole was insane every seconf sentence.. wow I hated it but wanted to see how it ended UGH
About 90% of this book is metaphors vs. actual content to progress the plot. Not a fan of the AI reader for the audiobook - pronunciations vary at different points in the story which is distracting.
Mia is still upset and will barely speak to Ella when she goes to check on her. Then Ella gets a call to go to a town near where she grew up in Virginia. She and Luca are trying to find who killed one of Edis' friends who was a councilman. Thinking this wasn't a hunt for a serial killer they start trying to find suspects but then more bodies start showing up. This was a great book with a really great ending.
The plot is fine. A lot of mistakes in the text, though. Character names used in the wrong places. Doesn't seem like the text is edited before being released.
