Loved this deep dive into the music that came before the blues, the music of Black songsters like Jimmie Strother and others. Very readable and will be of great interest to anyone who loves this music, blues, oldtime, folk and/or rock. Terrific portrait of his life pieced together including epic recording session at state penitentiary.
