This book is about fascinating, legendary courtroom trial that took place almost 100 years back. This books was a recommendation from and lent to me my father in law, who is a lawyer too. This book reads like a novel. Along with the details of the court case, you will also learn about zamindari, court system and about lives of regular Indians in British India. Murad Fyzee has done 'justice' to this historic drama. :)
My dad, who is a lawyer by profession, gave me this book to read. I read it once when I was a kid, and the second time this year. Adding excerpt from the back cover :"This case concerned identity of a rich indian princeling. Declared dead, under mysterious circumstances, while being carried for cremation, during a violent thunderstorm in Darjeeling Himalayan mountains, the body suddenly disappeared. 1933 to 1946, a sensational and marathon case, which created a legal history." This is a courtroom drama of a very interesting and bizarre story. I like that the book is very easy to read, and does not have a ton of jargon! However, this book is written in favor of the protagonist. There is another book on the same subject, written from the opposing point of view "A Princely Imposter? By Partha Chatterjee". Plan to read it next.
