Abigail Summers, dressmaker in life and brilliant sleuth in death, arrives at the Ottersmill Regatta with psychic medium, Hayley Moon.
Their plan is to investigate the murder of the club commodore, Leo Spencer. There are plenty of suspects at the marina, but could it be someone from the prestigious gated community, Edenbury Heights?
When heiress Adreena Van Derson hires The Deadly Detective Agency, Abigail and the other spirits face their most extraordinary case yet. After another mystery seems to be connected to the commodore's murder, Hayley and her husband, PC Tom Bennett, find their own lives in danger as well.
Set in the small village of Becklesfield, the third book in Ann Parker’s Abigail Summers Cozy Mysteries weaves together suspense, humour and a touch of the paranormal.
This was a fun adventure with three stories running in it, two consecutively and one at the end. The real kicker is the detective ghosts conferring with other ghosts about what is going on. I do like the premise though and enjoy all the stories, so far. The characters, including the dead ones are vivid, interesting, and sometimes maddening. The plot is straightforward, and the premise is threefold. First, they need to find out how the Yacht club manager was killed and why, then who was terrorizing the heiress, and finally who was scaring the small boy and why. The answers to all the questions were different from what they seemed. This is a book well worth reading because it will keep you guessing from the beginning.
This is my first read of 2025, and I’m so glad I picked this cosy crime mystery by the talented Ann Parker. The Deadly Regatta is the third in a series about a group of ghostly detectives and their mortal accomplices who attempt to solve a series of heinous crimes. Packed full of mystery, twists and wit, we revisit familiar characters and meet some new ones along the way. I liked the unusual imaginative setting. It’s a series I feel which could going and in my opinion Ann’s books are getting better and better. Highly recommended for a quirky enjoyable read. I loved it.
After a body is found floating in the water during the Ottersmill Regatta, there are several suspects for the Deadly Detective Agency to consider. With the help of psychic medium, Hayley Mood, and her policeman husband, Tom, the team has a lot to decipher. I have read all three books in the series now, and this was by far my favourite. It’s a well thought out murder mystery with plenty of humour thrown in for good measure.

An excellent paranormal story in the Cozy mystery genre. The death of the regatta club’s commodore sparks Abigail Summer (deceased) and Hayley Mills (alive and psychic medium) to investigate. What follows is humorous, curious and mysterious. A very enjoyable and easy read.
