Royal Resistance

Rate this book
Imagine a world where ‘princess power’ becomes political reality... A Rodham for all royal fans.” – Devorah Blachor, author of The Feminist’s Guide to Raising a Little Princess

Witty and brilliantly crafted…proof that the future is female!” –Jane Finette, author of How Empowered Women Empower Women

“A tantalizing alternative history… pure catnip for lovers of all things royal!” – Nadine Jolie Courtney, author of Romancing the Throne

ONE UPON A TIME, lived a girl with hair as black as ebony and skin as golden as the beach she loved to play on. Her parents didn’t have much, but they taught her to stand up for what she believed in. Across the sea, lived a handsome prince with hair like fire and freckles like the stars. His royal childhood was privileged, but it was tragic.
When Meredith and Prince Leopold finally meet, they fall madly in love. They are married in a ceremony watched by millions – and for a brief moment – progress, tolerance, and romance reign supreme.
But life is no fairytale. Is it possible to be a feminist and a princess? Leo’s family can be tricky, royal protocol is hard to navigate, and casual racism runs rampant through it all. Within the confines of the palace, Princess Meredith begins to wonder if her dreams of changing the world can happen within such an archaic institution. How can she speak out against injustice when royal neutrality constantly forbids it?
Then the Queen dies. NATO disbands. The US president demands a third term. In this increasingly dystopian world, what if the UK is forced to become the 51st state? What if the British royal family becomes America’s royal family? And what if that feisty American princess runs for president and wins?
ROYAL RESISTANCE brings us a rip-roaring tale of class, gender, race, and monarchy’s place in the 21st century. And shows that happily-ever-after is possible – not just for a girl and her prince, but for all of us.

Jerramy Fine was raised in rural Colorado, where her hippy parents hoped and prayed she would outgrow her princess obsession. But she never did. Instead she moved to England to seek out a more royal life.

Her childhood quest to become a princess is detailed in her hilarious memoir SOMEDAY MY PRINCE WILL COMES. Fine explores the power of the princess archeytype in IN DEFENSE OF THE PRINCESS, and her debut novel, ROYAL RESISTANCE, is about a princess that runs for president (wishful thinking?)

Fine studied Political Science at the University of Rochester and Social Science at the London School of Economics. She lives in London with her husband and daughter.

A clever and insightful fantasy that sweeps one along on a regal journey blurring the lines between fiction and a very real hope indeed for our collective future. Royal Resistance should be crowned!

Super cute and addressed important issues that feel too real these days.

It just felt super rushed.

Love a royal book and this was no exception.

If you were captivated by the alternative history and female empowerment in Curtis Sittenfeld's “Rodham,” you’ll love"Royal Resistance" where duty, love, and ambition collide.
I was spellbound by this alternative fairy tale, a whirlwind of what-ifs, which marries the thrill of possibility with the raw reality of ambition with the women in the spotlight. Jerramy Fine’s writing is warm, funny and pacy and cleverly blends old-fashioned romance with a vibrant feminist spirit.

This book captured my imagination and my heart. Fine’s storytelling invites readers invites readers on a captivating journey with her page-turner, with the reader cheering on the couple and, more so, its resilient heroine. Princess Meredith with her intellect, dignity, and emotional depth is tangled in the opulent yet cutthroat world of a political battleground laced with dystopian undertones. "Royal Resistance" mixes raw emotion with a story that grabs you and demands attention.

If you’re looking for a literary cocktail of sharp wit, political drama, and a heartfelt exploration of women reshaping the world, this book will be your next obsession.

I'm not 100% sure what this is. Is it fan fiction for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle? It wasn't too bad, but was just kind of weird how it basically took Harry and Meghan's life and changed a few details (like their names) and then added Trump (name changed).
