Costi W. Hinn is a pastor and author who is passionate about equipping Christians to boldly live out the gospel of Jesus Christ. His stand for truth and refutation of the prosperity gospel have been featured on CNN and in Christianity Today and in numerous other publications. He is married to the love of his life, Christyne, and they have three children.
I had a big decision to make that would change a lot for me, would affect several people, and was very emotionally difficult for me. I was searching for some wisdom and picking up this book up in the middle of considering what to do was obviously God’s grace to me. Costi helped me in discerning the right path and not live in fear or regret but to know that the Lord has given me so much wisdom in his Word that I can actually have confidence in what his will for my life is. Even when there is a fork in the road and it is not immediately clear and there is a lot to consider through. By the time I went through his “7 P’s” of decision making, I knew without a shadow of a doubt what I needed to do and felt very confident in it. The biggest help for me was considering that my spiritual priorities were off.
“Will it positively or negatively affect your relationship with God? Are you going to be in a position that makes it more or less difficult to grow spiritually?” Pg 172.
I am thankful to have this framework in this book that constantly points me to the immense riches of wisdom in the Word to make godly decisions that are in line with God’s will for my life and I can rest in them and in his promises for me.
Encouraging and easy to follow. A good reminder and charge for those like me who often get paralyzed by decision making. What a comfort knowing how sovereign the Lord is, even when we don’t make the wisest choices as fallen humans.
This book explores a frequently confusing and misapplied concept, helping readers understand what it does and doesn't mean to pursue God's plan for your life. Costi Hinn explains foundational concepts about pursuing God's moral will and finding your purpose, and he explores common theological and practical questions related to God's will, the sufficiency of Scripture, and how God's plan intersects with human action.
He also writes about common pitfalls that people fall into when they are making decisions, such as paralysis by analysis, perfectionism, and fear. After this, he covers some key factors people should consider when making life decisions, such as ranking one's priorities, seeking outside counsel, and looking to a long-term perspective. The final chapter addresses theological questions about God's will and suffering. Overall, this book is clear and easy to understand, and Hinn includes personal stories and other examples that help illustrate important points.
However, parts of this book feel very basic, especially in the sections about following God's moral will and believing in the Bible. There are people who need to hear this, especially if they are looking for God to guide them to just the right career without them bothering to follow God's most basic commands. This book is a good corrective for some, and a solid resource about a big picture understanding of God's will, but people who are looking for more detailed, specific advice about the decision-making process may be disappointed. The chapters that directly address decision-making are just a fraction of the book, while most of it focuses on theology and fundamentals of the faith.
Walking in God's Will is clear and highly readable, and it provides a big picture, biblically grounded understanding of a concept that many people find confusing. However, because this book sometimes feels like Christian Living 101, people who are looking for a more in-depth guide to decision-making should know how much broader this book's focus is. I would primarily recommend this book for new converts, Christians who have never received much discipleship in this area, and young people who are just beginning to make big life decisions.
I received a free copy from the publisher, and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
10/10 book! Seeking God's will should be the desire of every Christian, so this is an essential topic to study. People make thousands of decisions per day, and this book addresses both big and small decisions, although with greater emphasis on big decisions. I love that there is much Scripture throughout, along with questions at the end of each chapter for discussion and reflection. These aspects kind of made the book feel like a devotional, and helped me slow down and retain the information better. The book gave me a greater desire to be more intentional about my time in the Word, which is the priority for every Christian. We live in a consumer culture where we are bombarded with so much information daily, there are thousands of books to read, and knowledge is at our fingertips. Yet the Bible is a small little book that often lies neglected on the nightstand. While it is wise to use logic, knowledge, and life experience to analyze decisions, the Bible is the priority. If it's not, those good things become idols, including this book! My favorite chapter is Chapter 5: Decision Making Cripplers, and it speaks on this sin of overanalysis and other cripplers. The Bible is the best tool for navigating decisions because it drowns out all the noise of the world, provides clarity, and dissipates fear. Yet there is a process Christians should take when making decisions, including seeking wise counsel, and Costi outlines these practical steps well in Chapter 6. Loved this book, it will shape how you view decisions and grow your love for the Bible.

This is a helpful primer about God’s will — a subject that perplexes many Christians far more than it should. Costi Hinn encourages believers that we can walk confidently in God’s will when we are clear on our purpose (to be focused, wise, and productive — see Ephesians 5:15-16); obedient to God’s commands and callings in whatever choices we make; able to distinguish between God’s decretive and revealed wills; convinced of the revelation, inerrancy, and sufficiency of Scripture; confident in and trusting of God’s sovereignty; and resolved to be humble before God and others. He outlines an alliterative list of fundamentals to consider when making decisions: process, prayer, prudence, priorities, permission, perspective, and peace. Ultimately, God’s Word, not our own opinion or the opinions of others, is our compass: “My opinion is not inspired by God, your opinion is not inspired by God, and even the most practical advice and pragmatic ideas may be helpful in some way, but nothing compares to the wisdom of God's Word.”
I picked up this book while walking through a big decision about moving cities after a friend recommended it, and I found it to be incredibly helpful in that season. It offers such practical wisdom for making decisions with confidence—prayerfully, prudently, and purposefully.
I especially recommend it for anyone in their 20s, when so many choices can feel emotion-driven and overwhelming. This book helps you step back, gain perspective, and consider where God might be leading you. It was a powerful guide for me, and after months of prayer, deliberation, and seeking wisdom from friends and mentors, I can confidently say I made a wise decision. This book was definitely an important piece of that journey, and I hope it can serve others in the same way as they navigate big life choices
All good things here theologically, but nothing too distinctive. If it’s someone’s first venture into the topic, it’s a solid and approachable place to start. But don’t expect to get much new here if you have similar theologically sound books under your belt. The last chapter seemed like a publisher-mandated pitch toward his other two books. That said, Hinn’s "God, Greed, and the (Prosperity) Gospel" is totally worth the read.
This book is so good! One I will definitely reread! Costi reads the audiobook very well and you can hear in his voice the compassion he has for his fellow Christians trying to navigate this life. There is so much wise advice and guides to making decisions that I will be able to apply in my own life. This would make a great graduation gift or newly wed gift!
Really practical ways to help make decisions with Biblical guidelines and confidence in God’s will. A good reminder than even when we make mistakes, God makes much of our lives when we love Him & are called according to His purpose. I trust Costi Hinn as a theologically correct shepherd of God’s people. I always love his books and learn a lot from them! Thank you!
A practical and biblical focused look at the will of God. The strength of the book is on how to use scripture to determine the will of God in your own life. The book seems a little weak in how some of it was organized/edited. But overall a good book that I would recommend to others.
Great book. the content was so interesting! I was surprised by some of what he said, in a good way. very encouraging and gave a lot of practical ways to work in God's will. I loved the portion about suffering, too.
Every single person needs to read this. He brings his evidence straight from the Bible and gives you tangible takeaways in trusting God and walking in His path. So so good
