A helpful read and in some ways a necessary read. However, at least with Kindle format, it was frustrating reading inserted contributions during the chapters by the other contributors.

I have been looking forward to reading this book since I first heard of the Theology Together project. The overwhelming majority of theological works I read are written by North American or European authors, and while I am thankful for them it becomes easy to forget that the gospel is for every tribe, language, people, and nation.

A wide variety of pastor, scholars, and theologians have come together on this work: nine men and three women from England, Ethiopia, Brazil, India, Guatemala, the United States, Indonesia, Kenya, Egypt, Taiwan, and China. The result is a deep, profound, and academic approach to the work of Christ as interpreted not only in Western traditions but from all over the world. I was stretched, challenged, and encouraged by their writings and their insights.

As the editors put it, “The global church has its own stories to bring to the family reunion, both ancient and contemporary, not only receiving important legacies of Western Christianity but enriching the whole body of Christ in our day…By hearing how these claims of Christ are heard in South Asian, East Asian, African, Middle Eastern, Central and South American, European, and North American environments, my awareness of my own worldview has been enriched. More importantly, my appreciation for Christ’s threefold ministry has been expanded.” I wholeheartedly agree, and look forward to learning more from Christian brothers and sisters around the globe as the rest of the volumes in this series are published.

“Genuine catholicity means unity in diversity and diversity in unity.” This quote is the thread that ties through this entire volume. Do not buy this volume to hear Drs Horton, Mburu, or Holcomb because they do not contribute much- I wish they had. But it’s shows how the 3 offices are fighting for truth in different contexts. As docility fuels discipleship l, the call is made for the Church universal to raise up pastor theologians. The focus on each office point to who Christ is. The priest takes away the contagion out in by different contexts. I did not expect the argument on the temporal mess of Christ’s reign in OT. Overall a fantastic volume and a reminder to be missionary focused .
