Mind Over Explicit Matter isn’t my typical non-fiction read, but I chose to review this book on my blog in case that there is someone in my audience that might benefit from Dr. Leigh’s counseling, or perhaps someone who hopes to help someone else that is wrestling with this addiction.

I didn’t expect and was utterly fascinated by the science behind addiction and how our brains can be rewired for change. I’m also intrigued by the 56 sections titled “Brain Hacks” that offer simple tips, questions, goals and such to help you heal your brain.

I’ve no doubt that if you struggle with addiction (of any kind) this structured guidance book, with neuroscience as a foundation, will help you on your journey. Even if you don’t struggle with addiction, you might be amazed by how this guidebook can help you improve your self-awareness and cultivate healthy habits.

This is an important book I agreed to review because 74 percent of men and 40 percent of women IN THE CHURCH admit to using p*rn on a regular basis, according to recent Barna research.
It’s a huge problem that is guaranteed to be affecting someone you know, or perhaps yourself.
Though this is not my problem, I found this book to be highly educational. It has a practical, compassionate plan to help set addicts free from this pervasive problem.
Facts from the book:
1. P*rn is viewed 200 times more than all YouTube videos every day.
2. P*rn sites receive more traffic in the U.S. than Instagram, X, Netflix, Pinterest, and LinkedIn COMBINED.
3. 65 percent of dating app users are married.
This is why the book needs to get into the hands of many churches and ministries so we can slay the giant of this problem in the American church.

It is an important book to understand the hook and pull of porn over once my psyche and nature over time. What irritates me most is when the therapist goes on rambling about how prefect their lives is and how against all the odds and differences, they make it work. this over reliance of personal anecdotes to create a rapport with the readers sometimes backfires. for example, she mentioned she likes to go for her walks and exercise alone to clear her mind. Later, she said she loved doing with her husband. Book doesn't feel consistent in the approach. We started with sam and crissy, there is a brief mention of leyla another patient battling the addiction or compulsion.

that's my gripe with it but overall it's a good book worth visiting
