This book talks about what if your dreams and passions aren't fulfilled in your current season of life and how to keep the faith during the waiting period. While the book does Biblical references and verses, it does focus more on the author's personal life and journey, especially dealing with her dad's Alzheimer's and struggling to become a successful author. It was a short read that had many encouraging points in it.

Thanks to Thomas Nelson & NetGalley for providing an eARC in exchange for my honest review. #sponsored

Great book, I loved the discussion questions at the end of each chapter. The three R’s were a cool concept: knowing you’re in the right place if there is an element of romance, reality, and revelation. I also just liked the concept as water is so prominent, Heather had great ways of helping the reader feel the waves throughout their decisions.

I had mixed feelings through most of this book. I don't know this author and am not acquainted with any of her other work. My husband heard an interview with her on the radio & bought this book based on it.

It started off great.

But her reckoning with the fear of failure, and then encountering some actual "failure" grated on me at times. She felt called to make a podcast, to write books, etc. Her passions. The things she would suffer for.

But then, when they were not commercially successful-- Or they were ACTUALLY "successful", just no longer GROWING-- she concluded that God was not "blessing" her. It reeked of Prosperity Gospel. Made me wanna shake her.

I actually put the book down after one of those chapters and let it sit for MONTHS, unsure if I would ever pick it back up again.

I flipped through it this morning and saw that I had only 2 chapters left! So I resolved to finish it.

I am SO GLAD I DID.

And I cried.

Because God is good. And I am glad she wrote this book so people could be reminded of that. For His glory ALONE. :)

I have loved following Heather Thompson Day on Instagram. Several of her posts have caused me to pause and think, and when I saw she was releasing her latest book, I was excited to support her work and to read her words in a longer format.

This book also caused me to pause and think or pray. I loved the prompts at the end of each chapter, which also led to journaling or prayer. It was a great morning companion for me.

For anyone who is navigating disappointment or failure or anyone who just wants to go a little deeper and a little more vulnerable in their prayer life, I highly recommend this book!

This book is, in my opinion, Heather's strongest title so far. Her stories are honest and real as she shares of navigating some low points and disappointments in life. The chapters are short and have good truths for the reader to walk away with. Heather is a great storyteller and teacher, and I always enjoy her work.

While there are Bible verses and reflection questions at the end of each chapter, I would have loved for there to be more personal application/connections. Heather's experiences and stories are powerful, and I'd appreciate space within each chapter for her to make a connection to the reader's situations and apply what she's teaching.

I am going to read this great book again starting tomorrow! This book will speak to you in a very deep and emotional way if your life’s journey has been met with constant failures, unfulfilled dreams or a life that always has you at your knees crying to Jesus and asking why. This book came at the right time for me…as Heather says in the book, I feel like I am drowning. And I need her words today to keep going. I will start this book over tomorrow because there were so many sentences that I need to reread, underline, and make a note of.

Pursuing your passion sounds beautiful in theory but the truth is it involves a lot of suffering. Heather gives us an honest, first-hand account of how disorienting it can be. This book has helped me navigate my relationship with God when I’m not sure if I’m walking in faith or delusion. I felt so seen by this book!

A “5” from me at a time when I needed to hear Heather’s story. Used it as a study, reading only one chapter a day followed by contemplation and prayer.

🌊💛 A thoughtful, encouraging read for anyone who has ever been afraid to take the next step!

Let's be honest: how many times have we talked ourselves out of something because we were afraid of getting it wrong? That little voice in our heads can be awfully loud! 😅 Whether it's making a big life decision, pursuing a dream, or stepping into the unknown, fear and self-doubt have a way of convincing us to stay exactly where we are. Heather Thompson Day explores these familiar struggles in What If I'm Wrong?, offering readers an opportunity to reconsider how they approach uncertainty, mistakes, and failure.

What I particularly appreciate about the book's central message is the reminder that we don't need to have every answer before moving forward. Life rarely comes with guarantees, and waiting until we're completely confident can sometimes keep us from experiencing meaningful opportunities. Learning to navigate uncertainty requires courage, humility, and a willingness to accept that mistakes are part of being human. 💛

Day's subject matter is relatable and thought-provoking, especially for readers who tend to overthink decisions or worry about disappointing themselves or others. The book encourages reflection on the ways fear can influence our choices and reminds us that personal growth often begins when we are willing to question our assumptions and step beyond our comfort zones.

I found the themes encouraging and relevant, although some ideas resonated more strongly with me than others. I would have appreciated a little more practical guidance in certain areas, but the overall message offers plenty to reflect on and makes this a worthwhile read.

My verdict: FOUR STARS! ⭐⭐⭐⭐

An encouraging book for anyone navigating uncertainty, wrestling with self-doubt, or learning to make peace with the possibility of failure. What If I'm Wrong? reminds us that getting something wrong doesn't mean we've failed at life—it means we're learning, growing, and finding our way.

Sometimes the most important question isn't What if I'm wrong? but What if I'm letting the fear of being wrong keep me from something wonderful? 🌊✨
