Jaymerson měla všechno – až do té strašlivé nehody.
Stacey Marie Brown is a lover of hot fictional bad boys and sarcastic heroines who kick butt. She also enjoys books, travel, TV shows, hiking, writing, design, and archery. Stacey swears she is part gypsy, being lucky enough to live and travel all over the world.
After getting to meet this author at a convention I was looking forward to finding a perfect book to start my reading journey. It seems I finally found it when I came across “Shattered Love” the latest release by Stacey Marie Brown. The story of Hunter and Jaymerson is so deep and unexpected that I was left speechless after I finished this book. The writing is incredible and I am glad that I waited for the perfect blurb to start reading this author.
One bad decision and everything you thought you knew might change Life as you know it is gone and no matter what other people tell you, or how they say they understand you. Only someone in the same situation, someone who was there when it happened … can understand. Others remain on the outside, to them you will look normal and they will never understand what goes on inside your mind. Nothing will ever be the same.
There is so much heartache and hurt, anger, regret, blame and sorrow it this book that it seems at times it would be enough for not one but two lifetimes, yet the characters never give up. Life bends them to the point where they should break yet somehow they survive. Their connection seems unexplainable and inappropriate at best, but some things might not be what they look like.
While this book does have an end – I learned that it is in fact a duet so there will be more of these incredible characters and honestly ? I cannot wait …
I mean I KNEW that going in, but even knowing that this would more than likely be a Category 3 hurricane of an emotional rollercoaster and preparing for it, it still hit hard and ended up making it so damn difficult to put down. I tried (because you know that #workthing) but it was a losing venture all around. Jaymerson’s journey of watching her entire world explode into little pieces and working through the process of figuring out if she wanted to put the pieces back the way they once were or reconfigure them was addictive and made my heart go all kinds of wonky, but in the best of ways.
I liked Jaymerson from the start and as the story progressed I started to love her and then adore her. This isn’t to say I didn’t get frustrated with her and growl a few, or more, times, but I understood why she did, or didn’t, do things. Her entire world has been shattered and being 17 years old and having to live through it along with the expectations being shoved at her from all directions she was bound to stumble, and boy did she at times. But she is strong, determined and the young woman she was slowly evolving into was definitely someone I could hang out with.
As for Hunter and the whole romance/connection/hate thing they have going on. (Prepare yourself for vagueness) It is quite convoluted, but the why behind it as everything unfolds is...understandable. Their journey is an extremely rocky one and there were times when even I winced at their treatment of each other, I also wanted to knock some sense into both of them, but they are teenagers who were dealing with a lot of stuff and they had to figure it out for themselves. Do they by the end of the book? Maybe? But what I can say is that I adored Hunter and even when they were snipping at each other, I loved them together.
I’ll be honest and admit that even though I love the author’s writing, I was wary to dive into the book simply because it is a duet and I knew that my emotions would be ping ponging all over the place. And they did, but the balance of angst, humor, heartbreak and swoons was done so well that it only heightened my need to keep turning the pages. So bravo to SMB for a very well put together novel. As for the supporting caste of characters. Honestly, I didn’t like many of them, but they were very necessary to the story. My favorite though was Stevie ~ she is AMAZING! Now this is a duet so there is a part two coming for Hunter and Jayme, I’m not sure if I’d call the ending a cliffy, but it was the perfect place to pause at...so while I am concerned at what they will go through in the next book (I really, honestly think they’ve been through enough) I cannot wait to get my hands on it!

Jamyerson is living the life of the perfect teenage girl. Cheerleading, popular crowd with the most stylish of friends, and the all-star football hero as her boyfriend. When one bad decision suddenly turns her life upside down she is left to figure out not only what she wants, but who she really is.
Hunter is the outcast. Rumors run amok about his exploits. He’s the typical tattooed bad boy. But after one horrendous night the truth about Hunter is slowly revealed and what Jamye finds may be more than she can handle.
This is a deeply emotional story about a young girl facing changes she never saw coming. Jamye is confronted with a life changing situation that forces her out of her complacency and into a role of rebellion. Along the way she must deal with all the angst that can possibly be imagined in a high school drama. Friends and family no longer understand her and simply want her to go back to who she was “before”. If life were that simple, there would be no story here, because Jamye doesn’t take the easy path. She slogs through all the uncertainties she is facing and slowly begins to embrace and set free the person she was truly meant to be.
I enjoyed this story of Jamye and Hunter. Their relationship doesn’t start off with a bang but an explosion of pain, guilt and accusations. As they learn to lean on each other instead, they both begin to heal as they slowly accept their new lives. Along the way there was so much angst and drama, push and pull, and yearning as only a young person can experience.
My heart ached for Jamye and Hunter both. Jamye was so lost and confused and her feelings for Hunter did not help in the least, if anything it exacerbated her problems. Hunter was so misunderstood. He had no one in his corner with the exception of a few friends. I loved this broken bad boy and his moody ways because when it came right down to it, what he really wanted was to help set Jamye free.
This is a slow read with lots of emotions until about three-fourths of the way in and then things just get downright ANGSTY! The heat level is low with a few heavy make out sessions, but they were pretty intense. It ends with a happy for now and I believe their story will continue with another book which I will definitely have to check out because I need to know how this couple can move forward from where this story ends.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Heroine POV – I really wanted some of Hunter’s! Safe Triggers
Super sad. Starts off with heartbreak. Opposites attract. Star crossed lovers/ virginity/ good girl & bad boy trope. So much trauma & drama. It’s a good time.
Shattered Love hurts so good. It had my heart dipping and soaring in equal measure.
The inside is just as hauntingly beautiful as the cover. From start to finish, I was consumed by the blissfully blind teenage love, unthinkable tragedy, and the heartrending tasks of honoring memories and moving on. You'll run into a couple areas of shock and confusion, but this is an emotional story with a lot of self-discovery going on, so push through. It is not easy starting over, especially when everyone expects you to be business as usual, but reading how Jaymerson and Hunter pick up the pieces and navigate this new normal gave me all the feels.
Stacey Marie Brown is a new to me author and after devouring Shattered Love, I plan to read every book she puts out from now until FOREVERRRRR! Keep in mind that this is also part of a duet, but I've got good news... it doesn't end on a cliffhanger! I know some of you won't start a duet or series until ithe author is finished writing all the books because of cliffhangers, but you have no excuse now!! GO. BUY. THIS. BOOK!
This story is SO good, and talk about the most torturous slow burn ever! You are reading and you think finally!....wait no! It just really kept you on the edge of your seat waiting for that moment to happen.
Shattered love is about FMC Jaymerson, who is in a tragic accident, that takes more from her than she could have ever imagined. The other survivor, MMC Hunter Harris, is the ultimate bad boy who is utterly and completely off limits. But doesn't that make you kind of want him even more?
Jaymerson and Hunter not only have to deal with their loss in the accident, but also the changes that the accident has caused in them. Jaymerson truly undergoes a ton of growth and change, which of course her old "friends" and parents see as her having emotional issues. Jaymerson just feels like she is finally being her true self after being a people pleaser for all her life beforehand. Hunter, is at first this huge mystery, but we get to learn about him alongside Jaymerson as she slowly unravels all his secrets, and she learns the truth behind all the rumors about him.
It is hard to say too much about this book without giving anything away, but it is amazing, and tragic, and freeing. The character development is just wonderful, and you can truly feel Jaymerson's pain as she literally breaks free of the box she had previously put herself in, and is able to be her true self.
Fav Quotes from the book: "It was one of those toe-curling kisses that obliterated your mind. He breathed me in, consumed me."
"I was at a crossroads. I could either quash this new me and return to what they wanted me to be, or I could let her come out. The problem was she was angry, strong, fierce, and not looking to pacify people. I was terrified of her."
"There was a pause, then his mouth crashed down on mine. It was like lightning zapped through me, sizzling the blood in my veins. The sensation of his lips hungrily moving against mine sent desire through me in a fevered swirl."
"Yet it was mixed with grief, hate, blame, guilt, anger. We weren't so much kissing as consuming each other. Trying to forget out bottomless pain."
"The desperation and desire for him was like a monster I couldn't control - something that took hold of me and burned out any thoughts or apprehension."
"The feel of his mouth was like someone fired a flare up my spine, halting oxygen in my lungs. He nipped my bottom lip, tugging and sucking it, slamming fire through me."
""I don't care what everyone else thinks. You make me feel alive. Happy. I can be completely myself. Real.""
"My world had shattered, along with my bones, and my heart. But in losing someone, I found myself, the person I wanted to be, inside and out. And I found him."
Thank you so much for Hambright PR and the author for a copy of this book!
This book still tortures my heart in all of the best ways. Rereading this book was so emotional for me. I was so into this series the first time that I read it that it almost felt like I was in a book bubble. This series completely consumed me and my thoughts for such a long time after reading it. It never really left me. This is the kind of story that will stay with you indefinitely.
I have always been impressed with Stacey Marie Brown's characters and the character development. Even with her paranormal series, which have tremendous world-building, the characters were so well planned out and displayed with incredible character growth. It feels even more so for this contemporary series since it is story and character driven. These are the types of characters that seep into your soul and tinker with the mechanics of your heart. You will become completely besotted with them.
The plot of this story is one that will pull out your heart and lay into it relentlessly. This is one of the most emotional book series that I have ever read. The overall story is expertly plotted out and is written to be emotionally impactful. You will visit every emotion on the spectrum when reading this series.
Overall, rereading this book was so incredible. This is a book series that I will visit again and again. I recommend this book to all mature readers. It is one that will stay with you long after the last page. It is a story worth reading. It is a beautiful story about loss, growth, and love. Do yourself a favor and start this series ASAP.
***ORIGINAL REVIEW*** This review MAY contain spoilers. Read at your own risk.
I don't think that I was fully prepared for the outrageous roller coaster ride of emotions that this book provided me. It was insane! I suppose that I shouldn't have expected anything less after reading Brown's Darkness series, Collector series, and Lightness Saga. Those series blew me away and this book did just the same! This book may be a different genre, but the writing and the storytelling were just an incredible.
This book has an all-consuming, emotional plot. Like, drama central. This book will give you whiplash and you will thank it for the trouble. I literally could not put this book down for a second. I was so into the story and all of the plot twists were exciting and shocking. Some of them I had guessed ahead of time, but they were still extremely well plotted.
This book has a typical high school setting so the world building in pretty bare bones. The details contained in the book were sufficient to help me visualize the story. I didn't have trouble putting anything together in my mind.
The characters and the plot are the leading factors in this story. The characters have so much depth. These characters are real. They have flaws and they can think for themselves. They don't fall into a mold like a lot of young adult books tend to have. I loved the struggles that the characters had to face and how they were able to grow as a result of them. I loved how addicting these characters were and how likable. I loved how these characters are not black and white. There is a lot of gray area.
The romance was amazing! I was rooting for Jaymerson and Hunter the whole time. Even through their struggles. The romance was written very well. You could feel the love radiating off of these characters through the pages. I loved that things were not easy for these characters where the romance was concerned. There were so many obstacles that they had to face that made their love stronger and meaningful. If anything bad happens to their love in the next book then I will riot!
Overall, this was a splendid, emotional romance that is really set apart from a lot of young adult contemporary that I have read. This love story isn't shiny or bubbly. It is raw, messy, and real. Life happens. Real life. Real love. If you are a fan of emotional contemporary young adult fiction then you've found your next read! And you won't be disappointed.
Are we surprised? Should we just label this the Stacey Marie Brown stan account? I'm totally fine with that. If you know me at all, you know that if someone asks me for a rec that will make them feel all the feels, I will immediately and aggressively shove How The Heart Breaks at them. I am OBSESSED with that book, even years later. So, it should come as no surprise that I am here to shove another "feel all the feels" book at you that is written by her.
I read this in 24 hours and then immediately was like "hello...I need another"
I truly recommend going into this book blind to get the full experience. I'm very open that I do not read blurbs so you won't find them on my page. But what I will tell you is that this book is ::chefskiss:: I love a good emotionally damaging book and I can always count on Stacey to give those to me. Dont' fret though, all the books I rec come with a HEA.
Fyzického i duševního.
A my ji prožíváme s ní – skrz její pohled, její myšlenky, její srdce.
A Jaymerson? Ta už příliš dlouho žila podle druhých…
❤️Moc děkuji @humbook a @humbook_blogeri, že jste mi knihu (i její druhý díl) zaslali na recenzi a dali možnost si je přečíst! #humbookblogeri
I absolutely devoured this book. The storyline killed me but at the end, I was filled with love and want for MORE. This is a story about love, heartbreak and learning the path you want to take as you get older. Growing up isn't fun, but we have to do it. Learning is part of that experience. These characters do a lot of growing, learning and really take you on a beautiful journey with them. I loved everything about this book.
"Everyone is always so busy trying to find someone to blame or a reason to make themselves feel better, but sometimes things just happen. Unfair and pointless. But good or bad, this is life, and we have to deal with what it gives us."
This quote is just a little teaser of how amazing this book is! This book grabbed my attention and held it for the 3 hours it took me to finish it. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. It was gut-wrenching, jaw dropping, heart shattering goodness. But the best part about it- it isn't just your typical love story. It's about a girl who does some serious soul searching after been in an awful car accident, and slowly finds and finally loves herself.
I love a badass heroine. They really do get me every time. Jaymerson is no exception in my eyes- and while she might have been complacent in the past, she is ready to fly after going through hell. She is so relatable- we have all had moments in our lives where sometimes, something unfair happens, but we have to deal with it. I think it's HOW we deal with it that makes us better humans. Yes, she made some mistakes in her healing processes, but I think she had to go through each one of them to finally be the person she was meant to be. I love that she finds her voice, she finally lets go and she finally realizes that she can be who she wants to be. It was very inspiring to read!
Hunter's twin brother Colton passed away in the car accident he was in with Hunter and Jaymerson. The worst part about it all was that everyone believed him to be the "good twin"- the one that could do no wrong. And while Hunter is the "bad twin" we slowly learn throughout the book that maybe everything isn't as it seems. Hunter is a great guy- one that we all deserve in our lives. While the book was mainly about Jaymerson finding her voice and way, there were definitely some pivot-able moments where we could see Hunter finally being able to be the person he was meant to be as well.
I will try to be as vague as I can, but trust me when I say this book was nothing short of amazing. It literally ripped my heart apart. I could imagine myself right there with both of them, being torn apart in every aspect of their lives. I can imagine the hurt and pain they felt of loosing someone. But I still loved this story with all of my broken, little, tiny heart. They work- the story works. The story makes you want to dig deep in your soul and find your true passion, who you are meant to be. I give this book 5 whole stars because I fell completely down the rabbit hole and was grasping to come up from air- this book shook me (in a good way!) I loved the writing, I loved the theme of the book, and I cannot get enough of both of them. I loved that both of them finally found their voice and I loved that they kept fighting. Definitely add this to your reading list as soon as it's available.
DNF. There was something about this book that I just hated. And how in the hell did the author pick that girl's name? I've never had an MCs name make me want to hit something before.
Shattered Love is the second book I've read by Stacey Marie Brown and I loved this mature young adult side of her writing. It didn't take long for me to get sucked into this beautiful story, full of young love, heartache, healing, and yes, a bit of mystery.
Jaymerson, (love the name, by the way) was your typical high school student--cheerleader, lots of friends, headed in the right direction with her life. And, in love with the perfect boyfriend, Colton. Colton seemed to have it all too, including a promising sports career, as well as the dark cloud of his twin brother, Hunter, looming over him.
The story shifts when tragedy strikes and Jaymerson's perfect life turns into that of a journey--a journey to find happiness, a journey to heal, and a journey to live again. This is where I became completely engrossed into the story and wasn't coming up for air. I HAD to know what was going to happen next. From the newfound friendship with Stevie to the secrets involving Hunter, I was mesmerized by it all. Stacey Marie Brown knew the exact words to write to suck me in.
It didn't matter that this story was geared for mature young adults, there was a message and something for everyone. I can't wait to dive into the next chapter of this series. So captivating and so dang good--you'll want to clear a whole day to devote to Jaymerson and her emotional journey!
Jaymerson is your typical high school teenager....17, cheerleader, good grades, perfect quarterback boyfriend. Colton, football god, perfect son, loved by all. Hunter, the black sheep, the twin who is a "loser". One bad decision, one wrong move and these lives are irrevocably changed forever. I'm not usually a contemporary reader but i will buy this book and any other that goes with it. This book made me cry, laugh, get so severely angry i wanted to Chuck my kindle at the wall. If your looking for a book that will give you all the feels and make you think twice about every choice you make get this book NOW!!
Shattered Love Stacey Marie Brown is book One in the Shattered Love Series. This starts the story of Jaymerson Holloway and Hunter Harris. Jaymerson was a young girl with what people thought was a great boyfriend, Colton. But when a tragic incident happened it set her course in a different directions. Hunter was Colton's twin brother and he is thought to be the 'bad' twin. But the more that we start to learn them more that might not be the case. Feelings are high between Hunter and Jaymerson with what has happened and what they are feeling. This is a page turner of a read and I hope to read more of it soon.
Wow! This is my first read from this author and I can’t wait to start the continuation of these two.
It’s been dry spell,a long while since I’ve been so consumed with a story and it’s H/h. I cried many ugly tears, this is not rainbows and butterflies. This book will break your heart, it’s gut wrenching but at the same time it heals.
I strongly recommended you take a gander and give it a go.
** Recieved an ARC from the author for an honest review**
I literally just finished this book and I cannot believe how quickly I gobbled this baby up!!!!! I. FREAKING. LOVED. IT!!!!!!!!!! Honestly, from the very first word to the very last, I was invested!!! I love when a new to me author rocks my world!! I am complelety, 100% a fan of this authors writing and story telling, and love that she got me, hook line and sinker, from the very first page!! I am OBSESSEDDDDDDD with Hunter and Jaymerson!!!!! I can't even BEGIN to explain how much I love their back and forth, slow burn, with just the right amount of angst relationship!! From the accident, to their "hatred" for each other, to their connection, I am so in love with these characters and I'm so sad the book is over!!
I love that the secrets Hunter keeps are kept hidden and that it kept me guessing and invested in the story the entire time. One of my favourite things about a book and how I know, for me anyways, that it's going to be a 5 star is when I keep thinking about it when I'm not reading it. Whenever I had to put it down I kept thinking about the characters and what was going to happen and will they just KNOCK BOOTS ALREADY?!?! And that "clutch your chest because your heart is being squeezed" feeling that you get when something sad happens between the two characters?? Ya that was a constant in this book and I LIVED FOR IT!!!! Honestly, I didn't out cry in the book but man, my eyes were constantly leaking towards the end!!
I will say I am SO FREAKING SAD that we have to wait to get more of Hunter and Jaymerson in book 2. I really wanted more from them on a steamier level, but boy I think those 2 are going to explode in the pages of the second book so I am DESPERATE FOR IT!!!!!!! Like literally i can't freaking wait!!!!! love love loved everything about this book, from the writing, to the characters, to their relationships, to EVERY LITTLE SECOND that I got to read these words!!! Hands down a new fan and I highly recommend you grab this book once it's out!!
Can I just say WHOA! This book took me on an extremely high roller coaster of emotions. I was distraught and sad as soon as I dived into this book. My heart instantly shattered with what happens at the beginning. But I'm not going to lie, it completely suckered me in the moment I started reading the first page.
This book was like a plague, I was unable to put it down for a second.
Jaymerson has everything going for her, she's the girl dating the most popular boy in school and is always with the in-crowd. But some turn of events shatters her life in a way that most of us wouldn't want to ever happen to us. She is in the healing process and along with her, Hunter is also in the healing process.
They both have this dislike taste for each other, but for some reason they always find themselves pulled in together. She's always at the ready to defend Hunter because he's classified as the weirdo, the freak in school and when people start chanting hateful things to him, she's there to defend him.
She can't explain the pull she has with Hunter but it's there!
This story consumed me all the way to my core. I love a good heartbreaking story that will turn into something beautiful in the end, but is it a HEA??
I am so looking forward to getting the 2nd part of this duet. I can't wait to continue the journey of Jaymerson and Hunter.
His mysteriousness intrigued me and I loved her attitude. She didn't care about the popularity or the kids in school for that matter, she was only popular because of her boyfriend. She was focused on how she could help Hunter, or more like, how could they heal each other.
My first Stacey Marie Brown book and I already know I love her!
5 Stars
