Library Rules

Rate this book
At Philip's school everything comes with rules attached. Rules and more rules. Even reading. No -- *especially* reading. The township legislators, the school librarian, might think that the new half-library system will simplify their lives. Make their town safe and orderly, and above all, keep those gender lines solid. They didn't count of Philip. Nor his will to cross any new line they, as responsible adults, decree and impose. They didn't count on his love for books. "Library Rules" is a short story, about the freedom to think for one's self.

This edition also includes 2 additional short stories and 2 flash “They Get Away From You”, “A Cold Day in Belgium”, “People with Earplugs”, and “The Odd Poem”. Each of the pieces here is taken from the author’s full-length collection “419 Memoirs and Other Strange Stories.”

Michael Canfield writes about monsters, superheroes, couples, bank robbers, babies, astronauts, paranoids, background artists, hobbyists, and other people. He has published mystery, suspense, fantasy, science fiction, horror and just-plain-odd stories in StrangeHorizons.com, futurismic.com, EscapePod.com, M-Brane SF, and in magazines including Black Gate, Talebones, Realms of Fantasy, Flytrap, and other places. His story "Super-Villains" was reprinted in the prestigious The Year's Best series, edited by Rich Horton. Several other stories received honorable mention in Ellen Datlow's The Year's Best Fantasy and Horror series. Born in Las Vegas, he now lives, works, plays, writes, and watches television in Seattle.
