If the players are evenly matched, romance can be the most exciting game of all.

The Welwyn Marriage Wager Until I’m Safe in Your Arms The Baron’s Halo Yule Be Mine Romancing Lady Augusta Gem of My Heart The Captain Takes a Wife
This series is part of Dragonblade's Flame line, so this is a sexy, steamy, and scorching-hot read with multiple sex scenes.
Jenna has been reading and writing historical romance since she was a teenager. A romantic herself, she has always loved a dark side to the genre, a twist, suspense, a surprise. She tries to incorporate all of these elements into her own stories. She lives in Virginia with her family and a small menagerie of pets. When not reading or writing, she indulges her passion for the theatre, working with local theatres as a director. She often feels she is directing her characters on their own private stage.
She has equated her writing to an addiction to chocolate because once she starts she just can’t stop.
Lady Augusta became infatuated with a renowned adventurer when she was fifteen & believes when he returns he’ll marry her even though he’s betrothed to someone else. So she resigns herself to being courted while waiting for her hero to return. Would-be suitor Julius Price, Lord Boxted, is a worthy rival for her affections but he stands to inherit an earldom which would ensure that Augusta ends up living a boring life. From the moment Lady Augusta beats him at chess, Julius falls hard for her but overhearing a conversation realises she wants someone else. The fourth Welwyn grandson so find love & another entertaining romance. I loved Julius who was everything a woman could want but for some reason the intelligent, logical Augusta believed the explorer would want her & she doggedly stuck to this until Julius cooled towards her. Could she win him back or had she left it too late? Well that would be telling! A well paced story with strong characters, no spies, kidnappings just a determined suitor & a stubborn heroine I voluntarily read and reviewed a special copy of this book; all thoughts and opinions are my own
The Quartermain family is notorious for their wagers. The Duke of Welwyn makes a wager on marriage to his grandsons. Julius Price has already found the woman he wants to marry, but he has to get her to say yes. After multiple proposals, he's ready to get up, until the lady changes her mind, or has she? Humourous interactions between the grandsons. Descriptive sex. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book from NetGalley.
Lady Augusta met the "love of her life" at age fifteen when he met her at her parent’s home - adventurer Mr. Burton. She has dreamed that when Burton returns from his escapes, he will offer for her, even though Mr. Burton is already engaged!
When Augusta's parents finally take matters in hand, they organise a house party where they invite several eligible gentlemen in the hope that Augusta will finally find someone more suitable and stop fantasizing about Mr. Burton. Julius Price, Lord Boxted and his three cousins are some of the invitees and when Julius and Augusta meet, and they are attracted to each other. However, she is hesitant to give her heart to Julius as he is not the adventurer Mr. Burton is and she will have to live a boring life as his Countess should she accept his offer.
Julius is keen to offer for Augusta when he overhears her speaking of the fact that she is awaiting the arrival of her suitor. Imagine his surprise as he always assumed Augusta was available! He decides to speak directly with Augusta's father to find out whole truth which is when he learns that Augusta is keen to have adventure in her life.
Julius proceeds to do just that by organising all sorts of interesting experiences for Augusta.
Augusta on her part, starts to see Julius as more than just a handsome, staid gentlemen and begins to fall in love with him but is hesitant to proceed further.
Eventually, Augusta learns that adventure in life can take different forms and can be exciting when it involves the true love of your life. A sweet story that kept me engrossed and one I would recommend.

Romancing Lady Augusta by Jenna Jaxon is number four in the Wellwyn Marriage series, and features Julius Price, Lord Boxted, one of a group of cousins that has been lured into making a wager about marriage: all of them would be married by a certain date, win the wager, and receive rewards. His grandfather did the luring and claimed it was because he was dying. Julius had his doubts. He did intend to marry so they would win the bet, but not yet. He and three of his cousins had been invited to a house party by the parents of the delectable Lady Augusts, who was certain she would marry Mr. Burton, a man already betrothed and not even in the country. He was an adventurer and she wanted adventure. She thought that as his wife, she could partake in his. She was as bad as the Quartermaine’s at wagering and opened the weekend with a wager with Lord Boxted regarding who would win a chess game. She was quite good, and she distracted him (he said) and won the game and the wager.
Lady Augusta was nothing if not stubborn and Lord Boxted was persistent. He wanted her. Truth be told, she wanted him, but she wanted adventure more. They were at quite the impasse. He kept asking; she kept refusing, until he decided he needed to look elsewhere, but he took her on one last adventure. It was an entertaining read. I highly recommend it. A little lacking in plot, but that’s OK. The rest of it was worth that.

This is the fourth installment in The Welwyn Marriage Wager series, and is every bit as delightful as the prior books. It's a lovely Regency romance filled with wit, charm, and endearing characters who you can't help but root for. Lady Augusta is a lady who knows what she wants. She has an independent nature and dreams of adventure, refusing to settle for anything less. Her spirited interactions with Julius make her an engaging character. Julius, in turn, is a perfect match for Augusta and is utterly charmed by her. The chemistry between them is undeniable and is more than evident from their first chess match. Augusta has always known she wants to live a life of adventure, and she has already decided on settling with someone who fits that bill. But he is not presently in town and while he is off exploring, Agusta becomes more acquainted with Julius. Julius recognizes her thirst for adventure, and he struggles to give her the freedom she so desires, even at the cost of his own heart. Agusta soon realizes that Julius may be just what her heart desires and that love may be the greatest adventure of all, but has she come to this realization too late? The slow-burning romance between Julius and Agusta is both heartwarming and deeply satisfying. Such a charming addition to the series! I received a complimentary copy from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Jenna Jaxon's novels are always a pleasure to read. I must have missed the 3 previous books in this series. The Quatrain family is known for loving to wage each other about anything. The Duke of Welwyn, getting on in age, has waged his grandsons an estate, a carriage with equipage, and ten thousand pounds if they ALL marry within the year. This book centers on Julius Price, Lord Boxted, who has already decided who he wishes to marry, Lady Augusta Hardy, who is a challenging advisory to chess. But she has from the age of fifteen, had a crush on Mr Richard Burton, a dashing adventurer. She ignores the fact that he has been engaged to another and believes she can win his heart, if he ever stayed in London long enough for her to entice him. She seems rather immature and vain to me. She leads Julius on a merry chase, turning down his proposal until she doesn't want to see him. At that point he believes the "if you love someone you let them free" and allows his mother to start introducing him to young misses, as he can't let his cousins down. At which point she becomes jealous, realizes that she loves him and now she will have to seduce him. LOL.
I was gifted with an Advanced Reader's Copy from the publisher via NetGalley.com. This is my honest, unbiased and voluntary review.
This is the 4th book in a series about six grandsons and the wager proposed for them all by their grandfather. They all have to get married within the year to win. This novella focuses on Julius and Lady Augusta. It shows that sometimes when you think you have things all figured out, you can quickly be proven wrong and possibly miss out on the best thing to ever happen to you. Luckily, Julius was extremely patient and determined, and Augusta came to her senses before it was too late for their HEA. This was a cute addition to the series. The banter between Augusta and Julius was great even when she thought she wasn’t interested in him. They were clearly made for one another. The cousins and brothers were great together and have added humor to the story. This novella was a sweet love story with steam at the end that shows you can find what you always wanted in ways and places you didn’t expect.
Lady Augusta Hardy Is set to marry an adventurer not a boring titled gentleman. But oh my how she wishes things were different. Lord Boxted has to marrying the year in order to win th bet within his family. The woman he has his sights set on will be very stubborn indeed. An entertaining and diverting book and series. Finding the way through the cousins has been just lovely. Although you don’t need to read previous stories to be engaged in this story. Lord Boxted and Lady Augusta romance is a one sided stubbornly against and the other side stubbornly for marriage to each other. I am so enjoying the dynamics of all the cousins this one was no different. I received a complimentary copy of this book. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with guidelines.
Augusta is infatuated with a famous adventurer who she met a few times and whom has no interest in her. She turns down various wedding proposals because she delusionally thinks he will return to England and marry her. Julius is under a time constraint to marry and is smitten by Augusta. Can he convince her that he can provide all the adventure she’s looking for? I received an ARC from NetGalley and Dragonblade Publishing for my honest review.
This historical romance series is linked by six cousins. This is the fourth book in the series.
A crafty old Duke makes a wager with his grandsons. If they all marry within a year, they will all get a good inheritance. If only one doesn't marry, none of them get the inheritance.
We have great fun-loving characters having steamy adventures. None of them can resist a wager. Each of the books can be read on it's own but they are better in order.
Augusta has her hear set on a man who is already engaged and off on an adventure. She is waiting for him, but while she is waiting, she is being courted by Julius. He's great and determined (there is a bet, you see) to win Augusta's hand, only he is a lord and she eschews that life, instead Augusta wants adventure. Its all about timing. Will Augusta realize too late who she really wants? Recommend.
Augusta has dreams of adventure and more, yet the man she expects to whisk her away is off on an adventure of his own. Julius falls hard for Augusta but he's not an adventure. A truly entertaining and engaging story. Great characters and a continuation of the various family members looking for love. This can be a stand alone yet the entire series is fantastic. Don't miss this one.
Augusta does not want a typical marriage; she craves adventure. She keeps rebuffing Julius because she has her mind on some absent adventurer. Will she realize that she can have both romance and adventure with Julius? What must he do to convince her? I recommend this story to those who like Regency romance.
