Wishing For Mates #2

Wishing For Mates : The Final Letter

Rate this book
Hi! It’s Luka again, and this time I have to accept a new promotion; one I did not ask for! And somehow, everyone else believes I’m capable of handling it. I am not in agreement with that.
With my new responsibilities and my mates’ safety, I’ll do my best, but will my best be enough to save the kingdom? More love is coming my way, and I’m okay with that.
Revenge is best served with dragons. Catnaps are wonderful, especially in laps of handsome men. Gods are confusing. Men are obsessed with me, but that’s nothing new.
Will we finally get King Tristan dethroned and Alvin punished? With even more twists and turns, I’m definitely ready for my HEA.

This is a low-angst, MM why-choose, fantasy-romance. It includes explicit scenes meant for audiences over 18. Expect witches/wizards, magic, shifters, gods/goddesses, steam and lots of fun as you follow Luka, who can be a little awkward at times. HEA guaranteed.

Awwwww this was ridiculously cute!!
I'm glad I didn't have to wait long to find out who Lukas' secret admirer was.
Lucky mfer has 4 sweet mates! (no sword crossing)
I loved them all 🥺 I thought it was really special Luka got the same powers as his mates when they bonded.
The overall plot was light n entertaining. I had fun! I can't wait for Jacob's 2nd book to release.... I NEED to know what Zion said to him.

“I don’t want you to be like them. I need you to be you. You’re my mate, my perfect match. They are too, but I need all of you to complete me. If you were the same, I wouldn’t need you. But I do. I need and love all of you, as you are"

4 is the Magic Number

This is pretty low angst and a quick read which is great. Luca finds the rest of his mates (four is the magic number here!) and together with their inner circle they help him run his newly acquired kingdom. HEA guaranteed!

🧚🏻‍♂️ ARC REVIEW 💖 Wishing for Mates — The Final Letter 💗 by Regitse Liljadorff 🧚🏻‍♂️

So, here’s the deal. You guys know me. I don’t read a lot of fantasy. But I was curious because @regitseliljadorff is Danish like me so I had to check out her books.

And I’m so HAPPY I did! Because for the past couple of days I’ve been consumed with the Wishing for Mates Series. 💗💗💗 I devoured book one and then begged the author for an ARC of book 2.

The first two books follow the stableboy Luka looking for love — and gods, does he find it. And not only one mate! This series is MMM+ / why choose and as you also know, I don’t read a lot of those. Because the smut often overshadows the plot and the character development.

Luckily, Regitse doesn’t fall in that trap. There’s a deeper meaning with Luka having to search for love in the unlikeliest of places. The gods have plans for the adorable Fae Luka — and it partly involves saving his kingdom from an outside enemy.

The world building was phenomenal. I was swept away into a world of faes, wizards, familiars, shifters, dragons and magic. I could visualise it all so very vividly because the author takes her time developing her Universe along with her characters.

Luka is just frickin’ adorable! And he has red hair! He’s so fun and crazy and just overall this magical creature that searches for love and his place in the world. His innocence is endearing but he’s also a feisty guy with a healthy appetite for life and… Well, there’s a reason he needs more than one mate 😍😍
His inner monologues had me snickering outloud at LOT!

I loved the found family trope which was so well executed.

The sexy scenes were filled with heat, humor and intimacy. 💗💗

I can’t wait to read the next book which is Prince Jacob’s story, and boy, does he deserve a HEA! 🥹🥹💗💗

Book 2 is out on the 30th of June so plenty of time to read Book 1. If you enjoy sweet, romantic fantasy with a found family and a lot of steam then go check out Regitse Liljadorff.

*I rcvd an ARC from the author and this is my honest review 💖💖

“I will not bother you again as this will be my Final Letter. Love always - Your secret admirer”

Series: Wishing For Mates - Book 2: The Final Letter #MM

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 / 5
Spice rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ / 5 (18+)

Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Erotic LGBTQ+ Romance

Once again we’re pulled into this world of magic, Gods and Goddesses, Witches and Wizards, Familiars, Shifters, and MATES…

This book is written in 1st Person through Luka’s POV, and starts off from exactly where it ended and the story continues… Once again the author did not disappoint. This an entertaining, steamy light read book.

We follow Luka in his journey as he gets the promotion which he never asked for. We get to know the real identity of SHADOW and the White Owl. Help comes from an unexpected source in the form of talking Dragons as we move towards the end.

In the end, guess what? Luka finally gets all his mates and what’s more? He gets his Happily Ever After.

The next book in this series is said to be continued in Jacob’s POV, so we’re gonna travel along Jacob and I cannot wait to know who Jacob’s mates are and who that UNEXPECTED MATE is!

This is the conclusion of book ones story. It is a wonderful continuation of the story of Luka meeting all his mates finally. Again there are witches and shifters and healers and dragons, gods, kings, princes and servants. It is really well written story that sets you up for book 3 with one of the side characters getting his story. Definately worth the read.

cute low angst fantasy why choose romance with added spice

Great follow up book with a couple twists I didn’t expect. Great to end it with all his mates and complete the current story without a dramatic cliff hanger. But enough of a teaser ready for the next one! Oh and it has dragons, I love dragons!
Can’t wait to read the next one

Omg, can you find a more sweet and genuine character than Luka?!?? I think not!! 😍❤️

I really didn't think MM books was my cup of tea (not to mention MMM books), but here I am! 💅🏼✨

I'm in LOVE with the storyline and the characters! There's so much character development going on, and the story takes a healthy amount of unexpected turns, so it never gets boring! (Which can happens quite a lot in other series generally 😴). The series itself is so addictive, and honestly, you can't do anything than rooting for Luka and his mates! 🔥

Btw: Shout out to all the characters/mates with their different personalities! These characters ACTUALLY got personalities, and not some "mainstream" characteristics, that you can find/ is being copy-paste in every book! I love it! Thank you Regitse for the serie I never knew I needed. ❤️💕

This is not a well-thought-out review and are just my thoughts in no particular order.

It makes zero sense to me that the mates the owl and wolf belong to that notate new chapters (the pictures) get the least amount of screen time with Luka... I would've expected them to be high-priority mates but I guess not.

I mentioned in my review of the first book that it ended with only 2 mates and not really being a harem. Well, it did eventually become a harem, but fuck it took a long time. And by the time all of his mates were discovered, we barely got to see him and his final mate as a couple. It was annoying AF and felt rushed. This book needed another 50-100 pages to flesh out the remaining mates and their bonds with Luka.

As with the first book, this book reads as very YA due to the innocence and Luka's naive ways. I get that this first book couldn't be multiple person POV because we didn't know who all the mates were yet, but this book would've fared well to be multi-1st person POV.

One of my favorite things about harems is group play. Even if they only share Luka and don't all play together, I still like a smutty scene or two where they're all together. That doesn't happen in this book. There are a few times when it's Luka and two others at once, but that's it. Never him and all his mates at once. The smut was a little bit more spicy in this book than the first, and more frequent, but it still wasn't anything wild or mad spicy.

None of the mates are intimate. They are only intimate with Luka.

Grammar, punctuation, and spelling are just as bad in this book as in the first book.

Though it seems like I'm mostly complaining, I ate this shit up. I read books 1 and 2 in two days. I had to know who the other mates were and how their bonds were formed. I had to know what happened to Alvin and Tristan (their demise was very anticlimactic by the way). So, yeah. Just read it.

This is a sweet book. I enjoyed the first book even though it was a little simplistic in writing style, and the spicy scenes felt formulaic. I wanted to know how things resolved as we were left on a HFN.

Well, as predicted our stable boy/apprentice healer moved up in the world, and I didn’t see that coming. For what was meant to be quite fluffy does have more serious moments - attempted sexual assault and poisoning in book 1 then murder and kidnapping in book 2.

Alas the sex scenes didn’t pick up. But the author has gone for spoke and wheel, not poly, so there’s only so many combos to work with. However there’s a lot of sex acts that could be included and I just felt the spice was lacking.

The ending set us up for the next duet, I think I’ll try that and see where we go. I really enjoy fantasy and MM+, and with the shifters, dragons, gods and mages we have so much potential, it’s just not quite hitting the mark.

Luca

This is my first book by Regitse, and I am in love.

The writing was great, and the storyline kept me intrigued and wanting to know more. Throughout the story I kept guessing who all I thought Luca's mates would be and I am happy to say I was right about all except one of them (I guessed he had 5 mates when it was actually 4)

I love a good harem romance, and those can sometimes be hard to find. Some authors struggle with making us connect to all members of the harem by having too many or not giving us enough insight into who they are. Regitse, however, did it so perfectly that I fell in love with all the guys and how their relationship with Luka never seemed forced.

I loved the first two books in this series, and I am excited to see where Jacob's journey will lead us to next.

Book 2 in the wishing for mates series starts off where the unexpected ending of book 1 left us and it did not disappoint. We continue Luka’s journey as he navigates his new circumstances and duties.

He finds his way with the help of his mates, finding a few more along the way! I was pleasantly surprised who one of them ended up being and the circumstances of his fourth mate added a nice plot twist! This book kept up with the spice like in book 1 which I loved. The mates all work together so well and you can just feel the connection they all have.

We are introduced to some dragons as the overarching plot develops (they are so cool) and while Luka’s story wraps up we get a glimpse of Jacob’s who is going to be the focus of book 3.

This series is just getting better and better!

Luka & his mates finally got the happy ending they all deserved.

at first, Luka didn't think he deserved to be king since he was never royal before being chosen .

I knew he was perfect for the job and cared for the people cause he was once one of those people.

the found family he made before being king was beautiful.

the way Luka always made sure his mates felt loved, wanted, and equal to each other.

the dragons were one of the best parts in this one. Who doesn't love dragons

the spicy scenes always hit so good

4.25 stars. A truly lovely sequel, with Luka finding the rest of his mates and figuring out how to live with his new responsibilities and loves. The world building feels light and easy to follow despite there being so many fantasy elements - magic, shifters, gods/goddesses, evil plots... Luka retains his sweet, somewhat awkward, and innocent character despite all the challenges thrown their way. There is a continuing plot for the next book(s) but no real cliffhanger.

I didn't expect to like these books. But to my surprise, they were well-written books that I finished in a few hours. I really couldn't put them down. The story of Luka, from stable boy to king and his four men and then of course the story of Jacob, who also has his story to tell. A nice reading experience.

Loved!

This book picks up right where the first one ended. Luka is now responsible for a whole kingdom plus gets two more mates. I had a feeling they were Tinus and Xavi! This book has plenty of surprises, twists, and turns. And also plenty of sweet moments and a ton of heat.

I say again why didn't I start this sooner!! This is a why choose book so the main mc will have more than 1 love. The book continues with the mc trying to navigate the evil creeping up on them. It's also nice and spicy!! Another awesome read.

Review for all 3 books in the series so far.

This was very YA-coded and everyone acts and speaks like they're tweens/teenagers. Very fast burn and steamy but also slow-build harem with mates being added per book instead of knowing who they all are right away.

Not really for me. I just prefer to read older/more mature characters.
