This is a small hors d'oeuvre advert for the series.
A short 15-20 minute reading story with an interesting premise and easy flowing prose from the author but a story that rambles all over the place.
Packs a lot in the few pages but could have captured much more by just a couple more pages and some deft editing.
As I have discovered this book nearly a decade and half after it was first launched, my review is a lot of residual gas not impacting anything.
The premise is interesting and I have developed an interest in pursuing the main story from the series, so something has connected with me.

This is the first story I have read of David Sakmyster's and I am really impressed. I enjoyed it. I will most definitely go out and grab the rest of his works! Well done, if it is a short story/novella. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is a short story, approx 30 pages. It was enough for me to become curious about what the rest of Sakmyster's novels are about.
