Iris Bertone finally landed her dream reporting assignment: reviewing the most romantic Vermont inns for a prestigious travel site. She'll travel incognito as part of a couple, but when her photographer BFF can't join, Iris's new partner greets her at the train station. It's her worst nightmare: Sam Nilsson, Iris's overly competitive, irritatingly handsome decade-long journalism rival.
They'll hayride, they'll brunch, they'll sip tea in fussy dining rooms and eat bonfire s'mores after leaf-peeping hikes. It would be a pumpkin-spice infused dream if they didn't have to come back to the same issue night after night: Only one bed to share.
Can these rivals keep their hands to themselves for three weeks? Or will close quarters finally break down the walls they put up a long time ago?

A confident curvy/full-figured heroine.👏👍 (When the heroines body type/body size/shape is mentioned in any way it is either done so in a neutral way or more often in a positive or good way👍. There is not really any inferiority complex and no negative comparison to other women.👍 But there is a little indirect thing the heroine mentions…. But it is not followed by any negativity towards herself or her body/body shape/size. The heroines issues has nothing really to do with her looks or her body… but about her doubts and worries about her career and regrets but also her path in life etc. The curvy/full-figured heroine is 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 written like any other heroine…like any other heroine of any other size...which is a really good thing.👍🙌👏👏)
Sexually confident heroine.
Rather good chemistry and romantic build up.
Somewhat intriguing/interesting main characters.
Rather good and interesting plot.
Some funny moments.
Some sweet moments.
A hero and heroine that are ordinary people with ordinary jobs… not a billionaire/millionaire and actress or something like that.
OK steam/sex scenes.
➖ What I disliked:
Some parts were a little rushed even for a novella.
Some little parts felt a tiny bit disjointed and choppy.
Some of the heroines and heroes behavior was a little immature at times for people in their late 20’s and early 30’s.
There is a little too many similarities between this book and the other book in the series.
(That the heroine stayed in her relationship with her ex for so long and she also was engaged with him…. And that she stayed with him at all or chose him🤔🤨… the heroine talked about her ex like she never really loved him… or even really cared about him and that she found almost everything about him boring/beige and bland and more or less always had felt that way about him … but she did Not end the relationship... the heroines ex did …. even-though she did not love her ex and found him so lacking. And it seems from what is mentioned in the book that her ex more or less felt the same way about the heroine. So why were they together at all or choose each other? Why did they settle for each other? Why be in such a rush to be in a relationship/serious relationship when they were so young? Why not mess around and have fun with other people instead? … because there would have been other fish in the sea for both the heroine and her ex… Was it convenience? “Fear” of not finding anyone else?
It is one thing if the heroine and her ex really loved each other …. or were high school sweethearts or college sweethearts… but it just seems that the heroine and her ex were together to be together even from the start…. Not friends to lovers… not any real love there at all really…... So the relationship the heroine had with her ex makes no sense…. especially when you also factor in the heroines feelings for the hero and the heroes feelings for the heroine... both the suppressed feelings… and the obvious ones (that people around them saw etc.) But also that the heroine was also a rather ambitious and competitive woman and she wanted to succeed in her profession… to then settle with her ex like she did and not have a real chance at succeeding in her profession just seems contradicting and out of character behavior??… And there was Not really ever any real impediment/obstacle for the heroine and hero to be a couple much earlier on…. Only their rivalry and not being true or honest about their feelings and attraction towards each other...Yes the heroine was in a relationship from a rather young age… but she could have easily ended that loveless/”beige”relationship to be with other people including the hero…. Other than that there was no issue/problem.)
The subtle body-shaming about a side character (a man that was attracted to the heroine and what she said about his body) That side character was according the heroine spindly (tall and thin) and she found that very unattractive… and she said it in a rather harsh way when talking about him. Yes that side character behaved in a strange way in general... and the heroine and the hero were unsettled about the way the side character and his followers talked and behaved in a cult like way but still a harsh way to say it among other things. It would have been better if it was written in another way to show she was not attracted to that man without being immature and body-shaming.
Formulaic in the character description/visual appearance/character choice about the hero. (Hero= tall, wide, brawny/muscular, handsome.)
This was an absolutely delightful little novella! One of my favorite tropes is enemies to lovers. This wasn’t quite that, as Iris and Sam weren’t really enemies, but rather had been antagonistic rivals in high school and all through college, competing for everything from debate team captain to class president. Iris is now a journalist for a leisure magazine, and excited for a two week assignment visiting seven different Vermont inns to write an article about the three most romantic places to stay. She and Jo, the photographer, the female photographer, were supposed to travel incognito, pretending to be a couple, but at the last minute Jo can’t make it, and sends Sam in her place. Sam, the very male, very hot, photographer. Who she will now have to share a bed with every night, unless she wants to sleep on the floor.
Both characters are so well written. Iris is not your typical slender svelte heroine. In high school she was a little self-conscious about her size, but as an adult she’s learned to embrace herself and she’s confident and comfortable in her own body, which was refreshing. She’s smart, she’s funny, and she’s passionate about her work. And Sam! I loved Sam from the get go. At one of the inns the proprieter offers Iris one of her chicory root or bark-infused teas, commenting that they’re great appetite suppressants, and Sam’s furious and immediate reaction was glorious.
And the inns! As they left each inn, I couldn’t wait to learn about the next one. Each one was unique in it’s own way, and I loved the author’s imagination and descriptions of each one, and of the staff working there.
This was an engaging and enjoyable read, with lots of humor, and plenty smexy tension thanks to the bed sharing, eventually leading up to some very hot scenes. I can’t wait for the next entry in the series!

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🧳🛎🛏📰🌶
My thoughts: 🔖Page 91 of 169 Chapter Nine IRIS - This was a bit of a slow burn because of that Content Warning spoiler, but there were teasing scenes along the way for the spiceheads. I am stopping because I have to get up very early tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll still be in the mood for the banter then. I already want to read Book 2.
This story is not as XXX as the content warning may lead you to believe, the words are there, and the details are there, but they speed by, so it's less of a scene and more of a commercial for the scene. Don't be fooled by the cozy cover; it's gritty, not erotica, but close. Overall, this couple was fun; if you ever wanted an X-rated scene in a Hallmark movie, this is the book for you.
Recommend to others: Sure. It's a quick story full of hot drinks and fantasies.

The fall vibes were immaculate in this one! Truly pays an homage to the season, particularly through having the characters participate in festive activities. It’s a nice read if you’re still looking for a few more books before diving into your Christmas/winter holiday TBR.
On the romance front, it didn’t fully come together for me. We got there in the end, but there was just too much water under the bridge that hadn’t been completely drained before we got there, so getting there didn’t feel fully worthwhile.
Rivals-to-lovers, for me at least, has to find a delicate balance of showing that they are rivals, but also showing how that bad blood can clear up to form love. Even when they are rivals, I need to also feel the simmering unresolved tension, the tantalizing possibility of what if.
Having the FMC be in a relationship for 10 years prior to getting with the MMC, even if her heart wasn’t in it, put a damper in the rivals-to-lovers arc because I didn’t feel the adequate journey of the characters in the moments between the rivals and lovers, that makes them ultimately switch from one to the other.
Looking forward to the second book in this little series!

Iris has just landed a dream opportunity within her reporting job of traveling to romantic inns around Vermont with her best friend through work. The catch? Her best friend can’t make it anymore so none other than her college rival, Sam, ends up being her partner on the job. Sam and Iris end up traveling to some interesting places & with the close quarters & only one bed, their attraction for each other becomes hard to resist.
This was such a cute fall themed novella! This one had me laughing as well with all of the funny scenes throughout the different places that they ended up at. I love how Sam appreciates Iris & her plus size body & makes her feel beautiful & wanted. Iris’ moment of defeat with tequila was hilarious & I could absolutely relate to her in that moment, as well as her moment on the bike. I was legitimately cracking up out loud!
A delectable fall cozy romance novella! Hallmark after dark vibes. Laugh-out-loud hijinks, vivid picturesque settings, and impeccable spicy scenes! 🎃🍁🌶️

Fall Inn Love was the cutest novella ever that really puts you into a cozy fall mood.
Move out summer, I’m ready for fall, a fall in picturesque Vermont. Iris, a journalist is heading to Vermont for a two week “undercover” assignment to find hidden gem inns with her best friend Jo. When Jo has to cancel last minute and sends Iris’ long standing rival Sam in her place.
Sam, finally ready for a job that settles him, hopes doing an amazing job on the photography portion of the article will land him a position at D&D.
From glass buildings, a cult with ferret milk, doll rooms, sleeping in the car, all the way to falling in love.
Nice cozy fall read! I loved the back and forth between the two characters and enjoyed the enemies to lovers aspect. Sometimes the trope can border too much on the bully aspect that I can never see them forgiving each other and falling in love. Definitely a light fun read I would recommend!!!!!
A dream job for Iris involves traveling across Vermont finding the most romantic inns. She did not plan on sharing this trip with her journalist rival, Sam. The two of them must navigate this road trip across Vermont pretending to be a couple and shocker, sharing only one bed. This was a cute novella that featured all the fall vibes and fuzzy feelings. This had me kicking my feet and laughing out loud. Thanks to the author for this eARC.
Fall Inn Love is the perfect spicy novella to get you into the fall spirit! Iris and Sam have been rivals since they were in high school. They always pushed each other and been competitive through high school, college, and now, into their professional careers. Iris finally has her dream assignment- writing a story about traveling to quaint inns in Vermont. She thought she was going with her best friend, but when plans change, she is stuck with Sam as her photographer for the assignment.
Sam has always had a crush on Iris, but she had a boyfriend for more than ten years. Now, Iris is finally single, and he wonders if this will his chance to tell Iris how he feels about her.
There is so much fall fun- pumpkin patches, apple orchards, making smores, and cuddling under a cozy blanket. Iris and Sam bring all of the spice too!
I recommend this novella to get you excited about fall. It's spicy and also sweet.
Thanks to the author, Elise Kennedy, for an ARC of this novella.
This book was SUCH a delight! Sometimes it’s tough to develop any sort of connection with characters in a romance novella because of the limited content, and sometimes the sauce hits so early that I don’t buy into the romance. This was honestly the best romance novella I’ve read. Sam and Iris are both precious and lovable, their relationship both as enemies and lovers is flawless. Even though it was a novella, there’s still a bit of a slow burn, which I loved! And the spice, when it comes around, is spicyyyy! Some things in their relationship are so relatable (icicle hands, lol) which made it really fun to read and talk about with others. The book had such a fun fall atmosphere and good humor and hijinks along the way. I thought the authors writing was spectacular and I couldn’t put the book down from the first page. I cannot wait to read more by Elise and you better believe I’m ordering Falling in Vermont when it comes out!
Thank you so much to the BookSirens team and the author for a digital ARC copy of this novella to read and share my honest and voluntary review.
Elise cracks me up. She says she knows there's a book 4 to write in her other series buuutttt fall is way better. So let's write not just one fall novella but TWO! And this is the first one!
I adored her previous novellas and her Love in Fairwick Falls series, and was not disappointed with this one either. I love her writing style, it's fun, sweet, spunky, and spicy!
The banter between Sam and Iris is amazing. They've been friends and competing for the same positions since high school. Their chemistry is impeccable and it was fun watching them grow together.
They go to 7 different inns to write an article at the end, and let me tell you these "inns" were so entertaining! 😂 some were warm and cozy and perfect, some were well I don't want to ruin it, but some were freaking great.
Stars Hollow vibes, Second Chance, and Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Lattes
Iris Bertone (FMC): freelance reporter, wants the open permanent position, lover of all things fall including leaf angels, pumpkin patches and fun fall coffee drinks Sam Larsson (MMC): freelance photo journalist, competing for the open permanent position, wants to prove that he doesn’t need his dad or last name to get jobs, lover of all things Iris
Tropes: 🍂 Rivals to Lovers 📸 Slow Burn 🍂 Fake Relationship 📸 Road Trip Hijinks 🍂 Only One Bed 📸 Vermont in the Fall Vibes 🍂 Plus Sized Queen 📸 Spice and Everything Nice 🍂 Cozy Novella 📸 Second Chance
A delightful delicious fall read that had me laughing, swooning and wishing for sweater season. Cozy up by the fire with a blanket, grab your hot cider and enjoy this great read!
I received an ARC copy and wanted to leave an honest review.
“Fall Inn Love” by Elise Kennedy was the first novella in her Cozy Nights in Vermont series, and I thought it was absolutely adorable!
The two main POV characters are Sam and Iris, who have been rivals since they were in high school.
When they’re paired together for a work assignment, they think they’ll constantly be arguing and annoyed by each other.
But that’s not what ends up happening after all, and I’m so glad it didn’t! Sam and Iris were both such lovable characters, and I truly enjoyed reading their story.
Plus, I really felt like their relationship had a lot of depth despite the fact that this was a novella. No spoilers, but I was rooting for them the whole time. 5 freaking stars!
Elise Kennedy’s small town, cozy romances are like a handful of Reese’s peanut butter cups: sweet, easy to enjoy, and make you feel a little tingly… Or maybe that’s just me. Listen, I really love peanut butter, okay?
ANYWAY.
This book was so sweet. It had rivals to lovers, all the cozy vibes, and pumpkin spice EVERYTHING. Exactly what you need to get into the autumn mood.
Also, I laughed so many times reading Fall Inn Love. It was an absolute joy, and I cannot wait for the next one!
Here are a couple of my favorite quotes with absolutely no context:
This was a cozy romp. Rivals-to-lovers, only one bed, forced proximity, he falls first, all of which takes place during fall in Vermont — what more do you need?
I love how Sam and Iris were opposites in many ways but just perfect for each other. Iris is type-a, passionate, and a perfectionist. Sam is more laid back, takes things as they come, kinda of guy. He’s a standup guy and every time he calls her, “darling,” I about melt.
These cozy stories are what Elise does best. They feel like a soft cozy blanket by a warm fire — you can't help but feel all warm and tingly inside after reading them. I can’t wait to see what she does next!
Iris is on her dream assignment. She will be reviewing the “most romantic” Vermont inns for a prestigious travel site. Her BFF is normally her photographer but at the last minute, she can’t make the trip. She gets a fellow photographer to go in her place. The only problem is Sam and Iris have been rivals since middle school.
Can they survive this assignment?
My thoughts:
The different inns were amazing. A few made me have to pause my reading from laughing too hard. I liked how all the inns were different and that Iris was given a list. She had no clue what each inn would be like only that they were supposed to be romantic.
Sam and Iris were well written. I loved them together. The building of their relationship from rivals to friends to lovers was done really well.
I love a good small town, cozy romance and this book did not disappoint! • Enemies to lovers • Work romance • No 3rd act break up 🥳 • Small town in the FALL y’all 🍁🎃🍂
I love EK’s style of writing that is both romance-y and yet so relatable (lots of references to beautiful, realistic bodies). The pace of the book wasn’t quite a slow burn but the action does take a bit of time to unfold.
It was cute and spicy 🔥 Solid 4 stars ⭐️
Thank you for the ARC copy! 🩵

Love this book! Elise Kennedy shot to my favorite author list after reading her Love in Fairwick Falls series. I will forever read anything she writes.
I love that this book was set in Vermont. I am a New Englander and I could easily picture this gorgeous fall landscape. It made me want to book a hotel in VT in the fall and experience it all. The cult bit made me chuckle because I could so see this being a thing in VT. LOL
I loved Iris and Sam and the slow burn they had. Not to mention the spice! Good Goddess, the spice! Elise delivers!
Cute & cozy, bring on the fall!! This gave me “I want fall immediately” feelings. Fun story with different adventures. Read as an ARC reader- glad I got to enjoy right away. Quirky, spicy, & “get me to a small town in the fall” vibes. Thanks Elise!
Such a quick fall read! Gotta love a picturesque Vermont trip with fun twists and turns, enemies to lovers, fall themed activities, and some spice to top it off. Super easy and fun read that had me giggling to myself. The characters are so lovable and fun, in only 170 pages, you get a full glimpse of their life and fall in love with their story. Would recommend!
Like any other time I finish an Elise Kennedy book… I am left saying… I NEED MORE! I never want to run out of books by her and Fall Inn Love is such a great addition to her collection. I absolutely adore this cozy Fall story and the characters are just as sweet as can be! Iris is a curvy journalist and Sam is a sexy photographer. They couldn’t be anymore compatible if they tried, but they’ve fought it since high school! The sparks and slow burn are there and the banter is epic! I can’t wait for more in this series! Another home run for Kennedy!
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was very fast paced, and since it was just below 150 pages, I finished it in 3 or 4 readings. Even though I wanted that there was more of this story just because I liked it, I think it was a good call to make a sequel instead of elongating this story, as now my attention did not drift away. I loved the only one bed trope and thereby forced proximity. To make it 5 stars, I would have loved to see the characters (or one of them) stay with their original statement. For example that the FMC would have never seen him as possible future lover and that the MMC has always seen her like that. Now towards the end, it feels like she is saying that she fancied him all this time, while in the beginning of the book she is really against him. I would love to read the sequel of the book! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
What a leisurely-paced cozy fall romance! The scenery was beautiful, Sam and Iris’ chemistry was off the charts and reading this book felt like wrapping up in the softest blanket. It’s perfect to take to fall events because it’s super entertaining but you can also put it down to help with the green bean casserole and pick right back up where you left off. 5 cozy inn stars.
So cute, it is the perfect fall book! Spice scenes are easy to skip if needed. All the fall vibes were in here and I wouldn’t mind a cute guy bringing me a cute fall drink…just saying. 🤣
I wasn’t sure what to expect with it being such a short book but it was really good! It didn’t feel rushed. It was very cozy and a super cute & easy read.
