FROM FORMER GREEN BERET AND USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR JASON KASPER

Elite CIA operative David Rivers leads his paramilitary team into rural Pakistan with a critical directive—neutralize Kamran Raza, a rogue general selling nuclear secrets to the highest bidder.

But when their mission is blown apart, the unit uncovers a devised plot with stakes far beyond their wildest a conspiracy to ignite a nuclear crisis between Pakistan and India. Raza's intricate plan, a digital charade of doctored communications, could convince both nations they're on the brink of war. Now, Rivers and his team must outmaneuver Raza on the geopolitical chessboard to prevent jeopardizing regional order.

With the specter of nuclear war looming, the stakes couldn’t be higher. As David navigates the razor’s edge between duty and disaster, he learns that a war between Pakistan and India is only the beginning.

Because Raza’s true goal is something far more catastrophic.

Book Review – Rogue Frontier – Jason Kasper
Although thriller author Jason Kasper’s previous David Rivers story – “Congo Nightfall” – was my favorite in the Shadow Strike series, his latest tale, book 9, “Rogue Frontier” is a very close second to being my favorite in this series.

Kasper – a former Army Green Beret – continues to bring impressive combat realization and authenticity to an exciting and exhilarating soon to end series. Rogue Frontier is another notable read to a great series.

In this narrative, main protagonist, elite CIA operative David Rivers leads his black ops paramilitary team into rural Pakistan with a dangerous directive to nullify a rogue general selling nuclear secrets to the highest bidder.

But when the mission goes ‘south,’ the paramilitary unit ends up uncovering a conceived plot with a wild conspiracy to ignite a nuclear crisis between Pakistan and India. Now, Rivers and his black ops team must outmaneuver the ‘rogue general’ on the geopolitical chessboard to prevent risking a catastrophic nuclear war between the two nations.

With the specter of nuclear war looming and the stakes extremely high, this is where Kasper’s prose/writing style really stood out.

As stated in previous Kasper book reviews, his military experience and knowledge of intense combat situations shines through in his storytelling and creates a vivid military realism to every fight scene. The sharp twists and turns, the treacherous treacheries, and the deviant deceitfulness are all palpable throughout this story.

Kasper is a “maestro” at making the reader feel what they are reading. Every action scene felt perilous, and every situation felt real. This story was a true ‘page-turner.’

Excellent flow and pacing; genuine and relatable characters; overwhelming and intense action; and plausible and authentic scenarios throughout made Rogue Frontier an exciting and thrilling tale.

Another easy to read - read it in four days - and remarkable addition to the David Rivers' Shadow Strike series by Jason Kasper.

I received an ARC through "Severn River" and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This story begins with Rivers in America delivering his wife's baby while the remainder of the team is in Pakistan. The team's mission is to capture Raza, one of the top five wanted people. The team has restrictions placed where they are only authorized to have pistols. As the team is on route to a location where Raza might be, they are intercepted and attacked. A gunfight ensues and they are outgunned but manage in the end to survive. After the attack, they head to a different location to continue the hunt.

After a short time, Rivers joins them and based on new intelligence they proceed to a location where they believe Raza is. Reinforcements are called in from ISI to lead the assault. The ISI group run into issues, so Rivers' team take charge. They discover that Raza has escaped via a hidden tunnel. Once more they have to wait and get more info for Raza's location. Rivers believes that it is time to bring backup. They finally are able to capture Raza, but at the same time, it seems that someone has started a war with India, the war with India is being used to enable another group to steal a nuclear weapon. Rivers originally thought with the capture of Raza, they would be going home, but it seems that there were other plans for them.

The team was now to work ISI once more in addition to the Chinese to locate and recover the weapon. Pakistan did not want to allow the USA to participate. Read along and discover how this small team was able to determine where they might stop the other group from moving the weapon out of Pakistan.

The ending is great and will resolve most of the issues. This book is a definite read. Don't miss out!

Rogue Frontier by Jason Kasper
Shadow Strike #9 ~ A David Rivers Thriller

Action-packed rollercoaster ride from beginning to end ~ Riveting read.

What I Liked:
* The beginning of the book with David there as his wife gave birth to their son, Jackson ~ how hard it must be to leave family behind and go to war ~ even if you enjoy and are good at it
* The original Longwing team: five intrepid, highly skilled, lethal, dedicated, admirable, and intriguing men that worked together seamlessly
* The bond between the team members, the synchronicity of their actions, the use of their skillsets and their uncanny way of reading one another as well as the situation
* The inclusion of the second Longwing team with five men that mirror the jobs of the first team but are also quite different – worked well together and perhaps they will show up again in future books
* The Op-Cent moments and getting a glimpse of their jobs and how they support the team
* The action scenes that made me feel I was a member of the team and in the midst of war
* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing
* The twists and turns with so much on the line and the need to succeed
* Wondering how many of the team members will retire when their current contract expires
* That all of the team returned safely
* Knowing that there is another book to look forward to

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about what motivates terrorists and why they commit to the goals they have
* Thinking about how difficult it would be to switch between “home” and “war” and the impact it must have

Did I like this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Yes

Thank you to Severn River Publishing and the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

The Project Longwing boys are back and up to their necks in action.

When I was offered an Advance Reader Copy of Rogue Frontier by the publisher, I jumped at the opportunity. I’ve been a fan of the David Rivers Thriller series since reading the first page of The Enemies of My Country – David Rivers book 1.

Reading Book 9, Rogue Frontier, was just as fresh an experience as reading the first book in the series just over four years ago. Each mission in this series has a few similarities and the same Project Longwing team but the situations David and his team find themselves in are all original. Rogue Frontier was no different, this time they are in Pakistan assisting the government and its intelligence services. To say any more would tempt me to provide to much information that could lead to spoilers. Suffice to say just when I thought I had everything figured out and believed I knew how the story would end, Mr. Kasper proved me off base – maybe in a different ballpark if I’m being honest.

I guess along with a cast of well-developed characters and believable non-stop action, the unpredictable nature of Mr. Kasper’s stories are what keeps me coming back for more.

I discovered Jason Kasper through Spider Heist, which is a fast-paced, fun read so that led me to the David Rivers series. I got the first 2 books in the series through a library sale and they did not disappoint! I have not read each book in the series (I definitely want to), but you can absolutely jump into this book without having read the first 8. The story holds together very well on its own.
Overall, it’s action-packed with the team moving fast against incredible odds and the detail of ‘allies’ is great. The team dynamics are perfect and when the two teams come together and mix it up, it definitely adds to the whole story. Extremely well written, engaging, and touches briefly on some serious topics that are a reality of military ops. My favorite quote:
“That entire ruse of turning trauma into glory kept the military industrial complex churning with fresh recruits that would, if they ever made it to war, later find themselves bewildered in a world of civilians they’d never be able to relate to again.”
Well worth your time!

outstanding

I love Jason Kasper writing. All his series. He’s an amazing writer. This shadow strike somehow tops the previous one and with such a gripping storyline I read it clear through. Couldn’t put it down! The story line pulls you in multiple directions with lots of twists and turns, plenty of action. But at the heart of it, it still David and his team their accumulated knowledge, warrior brothers who are trusted to stop whatever threat being made on the world at all costs. A story you can actually believe might happen with a handful of dedicated heroes laying it all on the line to save the world. Written in away you feel like you’re right there. Kasper is truly an artist when it comes to words. Grateful to have found him and look forward to anything in the future

Rogue Frontier by Jason Kasper was a fantastic read! The story opens with the legendary David Rivers nowhere to be found just as his team is attempting a covert operation. From the first page, Kasper's fire selector switch feels locked on rock and roll. When the mission gets blown, the team is dragged into a desperate conspiracy that threatens nuclear annihilation. Undermanned and with little to no resources, Project Longwing has to play 'Fast and Loose' if they are going to save the world. Again.
The depth and attention to detail speak to the real-life Special Forces experience Kasper brings to his writing, lending incredible authenticity. This book is perfect for readers who love fast-paced, authentic military thrillers with non-stop action. Highly recommended!

Fast-paced, entertaining military/spy fiction that will keep you reading and reading. I had access to an ARC of the book. I like reading technothrillers with plausible geopolitical background. This is one such book. An undermanned and undergunned team of US intelligence operatives tries to capture a terrorist in Pakistan while an imminent war looms between Pakistan and India.

I liked the pace, the setting and the action. The characters are pretty shallow, as is usual in the genre. The dialogs and the conversations in the book are OK, nothing special. Don't get me wrong, it's still a good read (pun intended).

I was doubting between 3 and 4 stars, and I'll err on the side of the aftertaste, so 3 stars (and a half).

My Thoughts

Rogue Frontier is written by Jason Kasper. This is book 9 in the Shadow Strike Series. I’ve not read the whole series but I had no problems following along. I love military thriller books. The amount of details that the author has placed in this book is insane. The book is fast paced with lots of action and suspense.

The author to this book is a former Green Beret which allows him to write more authentically. I felt that I was standing there watching everything unfold. CIA operative David Rivers is leading his team on a mission in a remote part of Pakistan. However they quickly learn that there is a deeper plot to start a nuclear war.

Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me to read a copy of this book. All thoughts are my own.

The latest mil fiction masterpiece from Jason Kasper

It’s always enjoyable to find a great new author and follow their stories year after year. Their journey as a storyteller is similar to the journey many of us took in our careers serving the nation. With the repetitions comes experience and ultimately growth. Jason’s writing is mature, humorous, accurate and entertaining. This tale is the latest in a series of excellent novels about the adventures of a covert CT team with characters all of us recognize, appreciate and can relate to. I won’t hide spoilers but it’s a hell of a tale. Thanks Jason. Look forward to the next one. DOL, RLTW.

Round and round and impossible to put down (the way I like it)

There is NEVER a straightforward mission for David Rivers and his team, and I wouldn’t want it otherwise.

This book is no different, as it takes us from one surprising turn to the next, full of action from both ends of the mission, the whole masterfully woven by Jason Kasper until the very end, an ending that only makes me count down the days separating us from the series’ finale.

Another amazing read. Jason Kasper rocks.

David Rivers and his team have been the most satisfying read I've had in years. The detail that Jason Kasper places with his creations are second to none. There is never a dull moment in any of the books In this series. I'm sad to say that knowing the last 1 is coming out, I'm looking forward to the conclusion of this series. It's been a great ride.

I received an advanced copy of this book for my honest review. This book is a continuation of a great series. The action starts right and only slows down occasionally to give the reader a break. The story moves fast and keeps the reader guessing. The characters are all great and very believable. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

I truly enjoy all of Jason's books, he captures the warrior essence and mindset in a way that pulls the reader into the emotional dynamic in a way that only someone who has experienced combat can do. Great writer, and his characters are a perfect blend of humor, skill, talent, loyalty & courage.

Lots of action, lots of tangos.

There is plenty to keep the reader fully engrossed. Rivers must put the thought of his newborn son in the back of his mind, so he can lead his team in to hell and back!

This must be the end?

Jason has kept all the books pretty consistent quality. Plenty of banter with some good action.
Has some sentimental moment in this one from the leader. Mainly based in Pakistan for the duration of the book. These guys battle till the end!
