HIS DARK VENDETTA is the second book in the Bonded in Blood series. Each book is an interconnected standalone Paranormal Mafia Romance with a guaranteed HEA.
Katelyn Brehm writes steamy Paranormal and Mafia Romance with mature characters and contemporary settings deeply rooted in our real world. Kat is a second-generation German-American and native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. When she's not reading and writing or working on her vintage Romance cover and stepback collection, she works as an aerospace engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Kat lives in Pasadena, California with her husband and two cats, Mini Wheat and Pepper.
Well, it's finished! Whew, what a wild ride! I hope you enjoy these two and their journeys--as individuals and as a couple. They're flawed and messy and I adore them both. On to book 3!
Another absolutely DELICIOUS audiobook from Dani Soleil, Aiden Snow and Katelyn Brehm ! I’m constantly blown away by these books ! The PLOT is phenomenal, the spice is delicious, and now I’m even more convinced I want my very own blood demon ! FULL RTC
——————————-
I can’t even put into words how much I love and adore these books, these narrators, and this author ! If I’m thankful to social media for anything, it’s that it brought me these books and dragged me into this world. I never want to leave.
These books give you all the delicious mafia romance vibes, mature characters, possessive / obsessive men, strong independent women, and YUMMY spice. On top of all of that? Blood Demons. NOT vampires.
Luca had a vendetta to cash in on. A new future to face. Demons to slay (internally not actually) And he knows just what he’s going to do about it. When his plans go to shit, he decides to improvise. Now he’s got the woman he wanted dead living with him.. and their one night they shared months ago, and the building attraction they’ve shared for years doesn’t (shouldn’t) matter anymore.
Siobhan is an absolute queen. She’s taken care of herself by herself her entire life. Her family’s caused her nothing but pain. She doesn’t fall in love, and she absolutely doesn’t need a man. Luca already hurt her once or twice before, and by no means is she supposed to be forgiving him AGAIN. But being his captive doesn’t start to seem like such a bad thing when he starts caring for her, flirting with her, listening to her, and opening up to her. Will these two be able to sort things out or will the vendetta he has against her prove too tough to overcome?
I cannot say enough about Dani Soleil here! Her performance as Siobhan was absolutely phenomenal! The range of emotion she shows, the funny parts, the serious parts, the SCREAMS!! I was floored during parts of this book to the point of having to put everything down and just listen. Dani really captured the entirety of her character and it was such a joy to listen to. HER ACCENT for those times when Siobhan is just overcome with emotion and can’t mask it?! Holy smokes. It was flawless. I could listen to Dani talk for EVER!
Aiden was stunning as usual. Of course the growly, possessive, overprotective mafia man is the perfect role for him! His voice is like butter, and it even had me slowing down the speed a couple times just to really enjoy it.
Overall I’m still obsessed. Been obsessed. Will be obsessed with this world that KB has created and I’m living on borrowed time until book 3! I can’t recommend these enough to everyone looking to try something new, they’ve truly been such a joy to read and listen to.
His Dark Vendetta is the kind of audiobook that has you doing everyone else's chores out of choice, just so that you can keep listening! The dual narration was just as great as the first book in the series, Her Dark Salvation, and the two narrators really brought the story to life.
It was a really satisfying and angsty paranormal mafia romance. Siobhán was understandably furious and bitter at Luca for his previous behaviour towards her alone, even before he abducted her in revenge for his father's murder! These two were like an enemies-to-lovers powder keg ready to explode, and Luca's sort of redemption arc was so well done. It got really emotional at several points as well so it was a really well rounded book.
This is a series where you'd lose a lot of context if you treated them as connected standalones and just came into the series at book 2, because they are closely interconnected with a series-long plot that links them all together. The last 2 hours of the audiobook were a complete suprise and I couldn't believe how this one ended! I am so ready to listen to Mama Gina's story next. That one is going to be incredible, I already know it.
Disclaimer: I received an Advance Listener Copy from the author, but this is my voluntary and honest review.
oh come on!!! that ending?! UGH. this book was soo good and so well written. the details In this book really make it stand out. I loved finding out how Luca and Siobhan finally made it back to each other.
I am OFFICIALLY OBSESSED with Blood demons. Like… this is hands down my #1 book right now. Everything is just so perfectly done, I’m speechless.
Not gonna lie, I hated Luka at the beginning and thought this was gonna be a mess — but I was SO wrong. They’re both so broken, but somehow found healing in each other. The way they rebuilt trust and grew together? Pure enemies to lovers GOLD 🔥❤️🔥
And THAT ENDING??? I’m still recovering 😭 How am I supposed to survive until book 3 😩📚
🖤Paranormal Mafia 🩸Blood Demon x Human 💥Action ❤️🔥Slow Burn 💗Family & Found Family 🫦Mature (and s3xy) Couple
NOTE: Can be read as standalone but HIGHLY recommend reading Book one, not only another 5 star read but it revisits characters and plot points that extends a bit to this story.
Review Just as amazing as book one and thrilled to bits that we see all the same faces return in this cinematically infused mafia revenge drama. The mafia meets paranormal aspects to our world is executed with such panache, and a groundedness is always permeating from every interaction. It's a shadowy world oozing with class, danger, grit, passion, and adrenaline!
Our MMC Luca (a blood demon) is overcome by feelings of revenge for the mu4der of his father. Consumed with a way to fulfill his "dark vendetta", we see him struggle with what he believes is the crux of his betrayal and loss. The cost to his soul and losing the ones he loves at the expense of holding on to his anger is at stake... this is what makes great timeless stories!
He's been put through the ringer. He has feelings of guilt and vengeance, but despite this we see how his heart is still very much beating and aches for the love he once had with human, Siobhan. Their history is complex and I loved the several flashbacks to see their sweet and fiery chemistry. And Luca is a presence all his own, oof!
Siobhan is strong, fiesty, funny, and will push back, not afraid to stand her ground. She has been caught in the crossfire of her Irish family's mafia links and wants to wash her hands of it. But Luca and her's star crossed love story, the push and pull...is pure kismet.
We get a wonderfully complex and rich drama to follow, akin to those irresistible crime/mafia movies we all love from a certain Italian director (Scorsese wink wink) but with a paranormal, Romeo and Juliet type twist! This series is a MUST and waiting for book 3 will be a test of my patience haha!
Oh holy hell!! What an ending!!! You must prepare for a cliff hanger of epic proportions.
This second installment to the Bonded in Blood series centers around Luca. Luca has just been cast out by Marco and sentenced to punishment by Vinnie. Luca’s vendetta against the Irish burns deep inside and the only thing keeping him strong through this is his desire for revenge against the rat and family that took his father’s life.
Siobhán wants nothing more to do with the mafia life. She decides to take and find another job and leave behind her family of choice to try and start over again. But Luca’s plans interfere with hers and she continues to get dragged into the world she is so desperate to leave.
What does fate have in store for these two? Well it ain’t rainbows and lollipops.
This book was nonstop adrenaline rush from the very beginning to the end. It is full of blood, gore, gun, violence, and brutality. It has a heat level of 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ as the chemistry between Luca and Siobhán burn up the pages. This story is continuing to develop throughout each book centering around individual from the DaVita clan. The next book will probably center around Vito. All books must be read in order in order to understand the whole story.
His Dark Vendetta is a dark mafia romance centered around blood demon, not to be confused with vampire vampires. It is an exciting rush, filled with heated chemistry and amazing character. It is a unique blend of paranormal and dark mafia romance. I thoroughly enjoyed this story as I did the first one. It’s a roller coaster ride of emotions. I cannot wait until the next book to find out what happens next.
His Dark Vendetta is the second book in the interconnected series Bonded in Blood. While it is a standalone, I recommend reading the first book before diving into this one. This is a slow burn, almost lovers to enemies to lovers, mafia, blood demon (not vampire), dark romance. Siobhan and Luca have been flirting and dancing around each other for two years before he asks her out on a date. I loved that Siobhan was older and career focused. Luca Moretti is part of the family business and is single minded in his quest for revenge against the Shaughnessys for the death of his father. When he learns that Siobhan’s last name isn’t Conley but Shaughnessy, he decides she will pay the blood debt. Luca kidnaps her with plans to end her life, but he can’t bring himself to do it. He finally realizes she didn’t lie to him and why she goes by Conley. I honestly did not like Luca in the beginning. He was bullheaded, blind to the truth, and wouldn’t listen to reason. Once he finally pulled his head out of his a$$, he started to acknowledge his feelings for Siobhan. The stakes get higher and he can’t bring himself to use her against her family for his vendetta. Luca pushes Siobhan away and ends there would be relationship before it could finally begin. Just when Siobhan thought she was going to escape this life, she gets a surprise and Luca has to face his nightmares before they can have their HEA together. Overall, I enjoyed this story and look forward to the next book, however, the characters lacked depth and needed more development to enhance the romance of the story. Some of the important conversations were held with side characters or off page and when the mmcs talked to each other the conversation wasn’t deep enough for me. Although, I did love Luca’s declaration at the end.
Thank you to Katelyn Brehm and Grey’s Promotions for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of His Dark Vendetta.
3.5⭐️ 2🌶️ 📚ARC Review📚All thoughts and opinions are my own📚 🐦🔥Follow me on socials @myrisingphoenixera.reads🐦🔥
This is book 2 of Bonded in Blood, a Paranormal Mafia series, and once again I loved it. This story follows Luca and Siobahn and their very messy and complicated relationship.
Let me start by saying I had the opportunity to do an immersive read on this book and that only made the experience that much better. Dani Soleil and Aiden Snow did a phenomenal job at the narration, and their accents were on point. Siobahn tended to have a thicker and heavier accent when she got upset and Dani Soleil nailed that transition from normal accent to heavy accent smoothly. Her performance made you understand Siobahn on another level, and I was here for it.
Siobahn is a spit fire who doesn't back down from a fight meanwhile Luca is a man on a vendetta and their two worlds crash. This story has lots of spice and an easy storyline to follow. The ending has quite a cliffy that leaves you begging for book 3. I can't wait to read the next book.
without too many spoilers I absolutely loved this book I was hooked from the beginning both damaged souls Sibhan wanted out of the mafia she didn't care much for it , Luca the blood demon wanted the love he had with Sibhan they understood one another and picked one another souls up the spicy in this is chefs kiss 💋 not just a regular mafia romance but paranormal ❤️🔥 enemies to lovers slow burn but the spice is spicing 🌶💋
4.5🌟 I picked up this book expecting mafia, which I got, but then was given a paranormal story as well?! I felt like I won the lottery! The characters fought SO hard for that HEA, and the road they traveled to get there made me tear up several times. I think Brehm has captured a great mix of genres with this series, and I'm excited to read book 3 when it releases next year. 🥳
4.5 okay. So for most of the book, I wanted to just smack the main male character. Because honestly, Luca, seriously. He had some demons that he had to excise, and he had to get over, and then you finally pulled his head out of his rump. And it took him long enough. She was strong for the most part. There were some triggering moments for her. Because of memories of things from past which was kind of horrible but all in all the book was really well done. I really enjoyed it.
I received this as an ARC - I've rounded up from a 4.5 rating.
This book begins a couple of months after the ending of Her Dark Salvation, but this time we’re following Luca and Siobhan - the star crossed lovers. For those unaware, this trilogy is an urban paranormal mafia romance, so it draws on each of those elements.
While the place names mean absolutely nothing to me as I’ve never been anywhere near America, let alone Boston, I like how Katelyn grounds her world in what feels like a very real place. This puts the urban aspect as a lovely tapestry or backdrop to the story itself. Initially, there’s a lot of names, and I’ll have to admit, at one point I did give up trying to figure out who is who, but after the first 20 pages, it didn’t really matter. A personae dramatis would have been helpful, but I could just have made my own. With that said, I did like the cast, there’s a lot of characters, but they do feel distinct and serve a purpose.
I adore Siobhan, her character is strong and vulnerable at the same time. Her trauma and her disability was really well written and was woven into the story and wasn’t forgotten about. Luca, oh dear trauma boi…Normally, I don’t continue books if I don’t like the main couple, but this was an outlier to me. I did not care for Luca, I understand he’s traumatised, but a large portion of that is of his own making and then he’s victimising himself, which is not so endearing to me. HOWEVER, he did redeem himself towards the end - but if my friend was dating him, I’d tell her to run because he is a walking red flag. I continued to read, because I cared so much about Siobhan and the story in general - there’s obviously an overarching story within this trilogy. And Katelyn’s prose is so easy to digest. Two things before I finish this long review - I love that Katelyn includes immigrants in her story and shows how the first generation and second generation have different struggles. I also love that all her FMCs are over 40 and feel realistic!
Audiobook releases March 12th 2026 (ALC by Author)
His Dark Vendetta by Katelyn Brehm is the second book in the Bonded in Blood series and this book didn’t just hook me, just like the first, it SANK ITS TEETH IN AND REFUSED TO LET GO??? I am not exaggerating, every chance I had I was listening and the length of the story is perfect.
This is paranormal mafia romance at its most addictive and speaks to my favourite genres. It made me feral, made me swoon and then left me wanting more. I love it when I get this feeling!
Luca Moretti wants revenge and Siobhán wants out of the violent underworld that shaped her. Their past? It’s complicated. Their present? Oh, it’s explosive, obsessive and borderline catastrophic.. I mean it could have gone all kinds of ways!
Luca is alpha type, broken and unhinged in a quiet and lethal way. The man is fueled by vengeance and bad decisions and yet somehow I was out here rooting for him. His anger slowly melts into something possessive and fierce and I ate. It. Up. Every. Single. Time.. it’s interlinked with book one but not so heavily you need to have read the first to understand.
And Siobhán, well, she is not here to be rescued. She is trauma and resilience wrapped in sharp wit and stubborn strength. She fights. She survives. She refuses to fold. Watching her stand her ground against Luca’s intensity was EVERYTHING.
Together? Their chemistry is volcanic. Not cute. Not soft. Volcanic. It’s that slow fuse you know is going to blow up and when it does, you’re grinning like a menace because the tension was THAT good.
The pacing is heartstopping but layered with lots of emotional elements. This isn’t just mafia drama, it’s betrayal, power, blood demons, family loyalty and love that feels dangerous. The paranormal elements blend seamlessly into the underworld politics, feeling like it’s made to go together and the stakes feel razor sharp the entire time.. lots of on your toes times.
Now let’s talk about the AUDIOBOOK because oh my gawd.. it just made it better!
The narrators absolutely elevated this book. The raw emotion in Luca’s voice? The edge, the restraint, the simmering obsession? I was done for, Aiden Snows voice fits so so well with these men. And Siobhán’s narration by Dani Soleil captured her strength and vulnerability so perfectly that I felt every crack in her armor. The tension between their performances made the enemies-to-lovers arc feel even more intimate and intense. Certain scenes hit harder because you could hear the conflict, the desire and the anger. Then later the obsession and love. It added this immersive layer that made it impossible to pause.. every chance I listened.
Enemies to lovers done to perfection. Messy. Rough. Emotional. Steamy… The writing is immersive and addictive and the ending had me sitting in stunned silence because I was not prepared to feel that much.
If you love dark mafia romance with morally gray chaos men, powerful heroines who don’t bend, paranormal twists and tension that makes your pulse race, His Dark Vendetta needs to be on your TBR immediately.
Katelyn Brehm, with respect, what was the reason for emotionally destabilizing me like this? Feral! I am still recovering and I would absolutely do it again. 😌🔥 (I need more!)
HIS DARK VENDETTA Bonded in Blood series Author: Katelyn Brehm ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/🌶🌶🌶
The middle-aged characters were the best surprise!
What a great twist on mafia romance! I loved the fact that the characters speak Italian-American in the book. It made it so much more authentic than just saying that they are Italian mafia. I also enjoyed the fact that the paranormal aspect wasn't the main focal point. It was the perfect balance. And to have characters in their mid-forties? Icing on the cake!
Although this can be read as a standalone, I highly suggest reading the first book of the Bonded in Blood series, Her Dark Salvation, for the best understanding of the characters and for more emotional impact.
-Interconnected Standalone -Characters in their mid 40's -Paranormal Mafia -Blood demons x Humans -Fangs -Italian-American culture -Friends to Enemies to Lovers -Captor/Captive -Betrayal -Vendetta to settle -Secrets -Redemption -Heartbreak -Angst -'Who hurt you?' -Chronic Illness due to traumatic injuries -Obsessive and compulsive behavior -Found Family
"I want blood. Shaughnessy blood. And because of your lies and because you're a rat, I want that Shaughnessy blood to be yours."
Luca is an angry blood demon who wants long overdue revenge for the death of his father. A vendetta...a life for a life. And he sets his eyes on the woman who was once his friend and love interest, Siobhan. The niece of the man who killed his father. The liar. The rat.
Siobhan left home at the age of 18 and moved as far away as possible to get away from her family ties to the Irish mafia. After Luca broke her heart a year prior, she had avoided him and her feelings. And after he betrayed his foster father, getting her caught in the crossfire, she thought he was dead. But Luca reappears full of hatred and the desire to claim her life for his vendetta. He had been her fairytale love story. Only to become her biggest heartbreak. And now her greatest threat.
Lines begin to blur after Luca kidnaps Siobhan with the intent to kill her. Secrets are revealed that throw a wrench in his plans for revenge and in her plans to get away from the mafia for the second time in her life. How will they move forward? And will Siobhan ever be able to accept not only Lucas's involvement in the mafia, but the fact that he is an entirely different species who feeds on blood?
First of all — thank you to Katelyn Brehm for this gifted copy. This paranormal mafia romance absolutely delivered on the obsession, tension, and blood-feud chaos I was craving. 🖤
Luca Moretti is not your soft hero. He is vengeance wrapped in a tailored suit. A capo with a blood demon curse, red eyes full of rage, and one goal — repay his father’s murder with Siobhán’s life.
Except… it’s never that simple.
What I loved most about His Dark Vendetta is the emotional war happening beneath the violence. Yes, there’s kidnapping. Yes, there’s revenge. Yes, there’s mafia politics and feds breathing down his neck.
But the real battle?
It’s Luca fighting himself.
Siobhán isn’t weak. She’s wounded. She’s strong in that quiet, resilient way — the kind of FMC who chips at walls instead of smashing them down. And watching her unravel Luca’s resolve was chef’s kiss.
This book leans hard into: 🖤 Enemies to lovers 🩸 Blood feud / family rivalry 🔥 Forced proximity 🧛♂️ Possessive vampire MMC 🥀 Obsession vs vengeance ⚖️ Love + loyalty warfare
The modern-day Romeo & Juliet comparison? Accurate — except this Romeo absolutely intends to kill Juliet at first. The tension is sharp. The push and pull is intense. And when Luca shifts from revenge to possession? That transition hits.
Now let’s talk audio.
🎧 Aiden Snow as Luca? That deep, controlled, dangerous delivery is PERFECT for a morally gray anti-hero. He carries that quiet dominance and underlying rage so well. 🎧 Dani Soleli brings emotional depth to Siobhán — vulnerability without weakness, strength without losing softness.
Together, the narration elevates the dark romance atmosphere and makes the obsession feel intimate.
If you love: • Paranormal mafia romance • Morally gray, obsessive MMCs • Kidnapped by the enemy energy • Blood demons + dons • “I should destroy you… but I can’t” tension
This one needs to be on your TBR.
🩸 Revenge was the plan. 🖤 She became the weakness. 🔥 He chose her anyway.
And yes — guaranteed HEA, but you will absolutely suffer first.
This was EVERYTHING I wanted in a sequel and more.
His Dark Vendetta (Bonded in Blood #2) by Katelyn Brehm takes the dark, dangerous world of blood demons and mafia politics and makes it even more intense, more emotional, and more addictive.
Luca is grieving, ruthless, and completely consumed by revenge when this book begins. He’s not easy to love at first—and that’s exactly why his emotional shift hits so hard. Watching his walls crack? Watching vengeance slowly lose to vulnerability? So satisfying.
Siobhán is strong, sharp, and absolutely justified in her anger. She refuses to be manipulated or broken, even when she’s kidnapped and caught in a blood feud she didn’t start. Their relationship is a slow-burn powder keg—angsty, layered, and full of unresolved history. It’s enemies-to-lovers with real emotional weight.
The paranormal element (blood demon x human) adds such a unique edge, but the heart of the story is family—both the one you’re born into and the one you fight to protect.
The audiobook made it even better. Aiden Snow gives Luca a deep, controlled intensity that perfectly captures his inner conflict and dangerous edge. Dani Soleil brings strength and emotional depth to Siobhán, making every moment of anger and heartbreak feel real.
The dual narration enhances the chemistry and tension in such a powerful way. I genuinely found myself looking for excuses to keep listening.
This is not a book you should jump into without reading book one. The series is interconnected, and the overarching plot is important. And those last two hours? I did NOT see that coming.
I received an advance listening copy from Katelyn & High Gravity but this is my honest review.
If you love dark paranormal mafia romance, morally gray heroes, strong heroines, and angsty slow-burn tension, this one absolutely delivers. 🖤
Thank you to the author for the ALC of this book. A moment for Aiden Snow and Dani Soleil who are SO good in this. Both performances were so so good.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series and was super excited to read about Luca and Siobhan. This book is a little darker, more mafia-esque, and has more heart. I really loved it so much.
That only thing that snapped me out of the story was the worse plot device ever created
So I took a star off for that one thing, but honestly I was enjoying the heck out of it until that point. Both characters are carrying secrets and resentments and trauma. It's part friends to lovers and enemies to lovers and rival families to lovers, and the way they make space for each other to love was really beautiful. It's also got some really great spice.
I just really love a mafia dark romance and this had all of that intrigue and danger and allure mixed in.
And there is a scene with Marco from the first book and Luca that literally made me tear up. Some moments were just really lovely.
I didn't want to put this book down! We get glimpses of Luca and Siobhan in book one, but never did I think their story would go this dark or this torturous (but that's what helps make the spice really good). Our story continues from the epilogue of Her Dark Salvation, jumps right into the tension and uncertainty that plagues their lives and then leaves us on another loose plot point (hopefully to be resolved in Her Dark Protector).
I'm here for it all, 35+ main characters (even the humans!), vampire/blood demon mafia, new vendettas exacerbating old vendettas, rival families, found family, some misunderstanding, spice, spice, and more spice. FYI, it's dark ... there were some points I didn't think the MC's would be able to come back from.
🎧Aiden Snow and Dani Soleil once again did a fantastic job with the narration. Our FMC has a mixed accent and Dani Soleil did a great job of capturing all of its variants.
Thank you to Katelyn Brehm & her team for reaching out to see if I wanted to continue the series with this ALC ... I definitely want to continue because OMG, when can we have book 3?!?!?!?!?!?!
His Dark Vendetta picks up after Her Dark Salvation ends. Luca has been disowned by his family and taken away. Siobhan is deeply upset over all of it. When Luca is set free from his captives, he vows to get revenge on Siobhan's family for the murder of his father. He takes Siobhan but can't hurt her, they still have this intense pull. Soon they give into their attraction and Luca releases her. Surprises keep happening and Luca needs to tell Siobhan the truth about his family. How will she take it? Can they have their happily ever after? Siobhan was such a strong and independent fmc, Luca the protective alpha-hole. Together they learned you can let yourself be vulnerable and trust someone to love and support you.
Kat is 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 again with her Bonded in Blood series 🔥 This is elite-tier paranormal mafia romance and I’m so here for it 💯🖤
After 𝘏𝘦𝘳 𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, I had my eye on 𝓛𝓾𝓬𝓪 + 𝓢𝓲𝓸𝓫𝓱𝓪𝓷… and WOW did they deliver. They’re officially my new favs. Siobhan is a headstrong queen who does not hold back, and Luca? Let’s just say I’m obsessed 😮💨 The spice was *chefs kiss* and I always love a good kidnapping 🖤🤣 this one was spicy with the best kind of slow burns in between.
His Dark Vendetta can be read as a standalone but be prepared for a little bit of a cliffhanger. Her Dark Salvation is the first book in the Bonded in Blood Series which I also recommend!
This audiobook captured me from the very first words. It was a duet narration and narrated by Aiden Snow and Dani Soleil. They did an amazing job on Luca and Siobhan.
Luca has lost so many people in his life. His main focus now is getting his revenge on the people that killed his father.
Siobhan has decided that she needs to get away from her current life and family, so she is taking a two week vacation and looking for a new job. Here two weeks doesn’t go as planned and she gets caught up in the middle of the feud.
Everything the Luca had planned went out the window once Siobhan delivered her news.
Although the cliffhanger 🤯🤯 I need to know what is going on with Gina!
I really enjoyed listening to this book. Both voice actors portrayed Siobhan and Luca brilliantly. I could hear Siobhan sassiness and vulnerability through the audio whilst Luca obsession towards Siobhan was to yearn for.
It was a HEA for the couple and that brought joy to heart. I'm glad Luca was able to let go and live for himself and his love ones while Siobhan was loved the way she deserved to be loved.
So the book ended and yet it didn't 😑 which means, I'll be picking up next book! Thank you Kat Brehm for the ALC. Loved it.
I like the mafia and vampires. Author Katelyn Brehm combines both and creates an interconnected series that includes doses of the edgy darkness of a paranormal vampire romance and balances it out with mafia crime. It works.
He is described as a modern-day Romeo and Juliet, but Romeo tries to unalive Juliet; “His Dark Vendetta’s” vibe has some dark themes. Luca has a rough history. There are several sad moments, and they certainly validate who he becomes and explain why. I liked Sioban’s character as well. Overall, I was entertained by the story and found myself fully immersed in the world Katelyn Brehm created.
Vampires and mafia, how could this not be fun?! Well it wasn’t. Honestly, the MMCs brand of cold and awful really made me hate him. I understand he had a ton of trauma but he tried to kill our FMC and continuously hurt her and FMC was supposed to be this strong woman, but she continuously capitulated to someone who tried to kill her “even if he couldn’t” do it. He didn’t trust her he didn’t believe her until a man told him to. Also it’s crazy to think the MMCs uncle and family in the mafia were so OK with the MMCs betrayal of everyone and massive tantrum. The FMCs body betrayal syndrome was too much to bear when the first time they were intimate he had just seriously hurt her physically. I just can’t. I read this book with a pit in my stomach and it never got better.
It is written well but honestly there was a lot of repetition and some gaps in understanding when something had been clarified earlier so it was like it was never said.
I really loved the first book so I’m quite disappointed in this one. However I do appreciate that the characters are older however it doesn’t feel like it because everyone acts so immature.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
“What. pair we made. Both severely fucked in the head and taking comfort from the one person we were supposed to hate.”
A perfect blend of vampires(blood demons), mafia, modern day Romeo and Juliet and revenge. It starts off right where Her Dark Salvation ended. Luca and Siobhán are uncontrollably drawn to each other despite their families dark history. Luca struggling with his obsession with justice against his need to protect and love Siobhán, was perfection. I can’t wait to continue this world with Vito and Gina’s story.
I received this ALC from the author and of course I immediately went and grabbed the ebook too — partly because I wanted to read along, and partly because I genuinely love supporting authors when I can. 🖤 This is book two in the Bonded in Blood series. While it’s technically an interconnected standalone with a guaranteed HEA, I really do recommend reading in order. You’ll appreciate the returning faces and the depth of the world so much more that way.
🎧 Let’s start with the audio… Since the ALC was my entry point, I have to talk narration first. This is dual narration with alternating POVs, and it worked beautifully. You can really feel the emotional weight of both characters.
And listen… Aiden Snow’s deep timbre voice? 🫠 It just fits Luca. That gravelly, controlled intensity adds such presence to his character. Dani Soleil brings strength and vulnerability to Siobhán in a way that made her trauma and resilience feel authentic. The emotional delivery in some of the darker scenes was especially well done.
🩸 Mafia Meets Paranormal — Yes Please Just like book one, this blends mafia revenge drama with paranormal elements (blood demons needing Sources, the politics of dons, feds circling, blood feuds). The execution is confident and immersive. It doesn’t feel gimmicky — it feels like this world truly exists just beneath ours.
We get all the familiar faces back, which made it feel like coming home… if your home happens to be full of dangerous dons and supernatural blood ties. 😅
🖤 Siobhán & Luca – A Twisted Romeo and Juliet Siobhán wants out. She’s desperate to escape the mafia life and her dangerous found family, but Luca Moretti has other plans. Her family murdered his father, and vengeance is on the table: one life for one life.
Kidnapped by the man she once thought would be her forever, she waits for him to break her — heart and soul.
This is very much “modern-day Romeo and Juliet”… except in this version, Romeo might actually try to unalive Juliet.
Luca is fueled by desire, obsession, and revenge. But as the days pass and Siobhán chips away at his walls, the lines between hatred and need blur in ways neither of them expected.
“What a pair we made. Both severely fucked in the head and taking comfort from the one person we were supposed to hate.” That line? It sums them up perfectly.
💔 What Worked for Me
I adored Siobhán. She’s strong yet vulnerable, and her trauma and disability are handled with care. They aren’t forgotten or brushed aside for plot convenience — they’re woven into who she is and how she moves through the world. That meant a lot. Luca’s backstory brings several sad moments (hence the single tear drop 💧). His history explains the monster he believes he has to become. You may not always agree with him, but you understand him — and that makes the emotional arc hit harder. The tension is deliciously dark. The chemistry? Absolutely there. The spice sits comfortably at a level 3 for me — intense, emotional, but not overwhelming the plot.
Overall
This was just as gripping as book one. Dark themes, revenge, obsession, found family, paranormal mafia politics — all wrapped in a romance where love fights against blood feud.
I was fully immersed and genuinely entertained from start to finish. If you love morally gray heroes, emotionally scarred heroines, and a little supernatural edge with your mafia drama, this one delivers. 🖤
And that ending?! Mind. Blown. 🤯
You absolutely get your HEA for Siobhán and Luca, but the final twist sets up the next installment in a way that had me staring at my phone like excuse me, what just happened? It’s technically another standalone, but fully interconnected with the series — and the setup for the next couple is chef’s kiss chaotic. I am already counting the days because I NEED that story.
