HIS DARK VENDETTA is the second book in the Bonded in Blood series. Each book is an interconnected standalone Paranormal Mafia Romance with a guaranteed HEA.
Katelyn Brehm writes steamy Paranormal and Mafia Romance with mature characters and contemporary settings deeply rooted in our real world. Kat is a second-generation German-American and native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. When she's not reading and writing or working on her vintage Romance cover and stepback collection, she works as an aerospace engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Kat lives in Pasadena, California with her husband and two cats, Mini Wheat and Pepper.
Well, it's finished! Whew, what a wild ride! I hope you enjoy these two and their journeys--as individuals and as a couple. They're flawed and messy and I adore them both. On to book 3!
oh come on!!! that ending?! UGH. this book was soo good and so well written. the details In this book really make it stand out. I loved finding out how Luca and Siobhan finally made it back to each other.
I am OFFICIALLY OBSESSED with Blood demons. Like… this is hands down my #1 book right now. Everything is just so perfectly done, I’m speechless.
Not gonna lie, I hated Luka at the beginning and thought this was gonna be a mess — but I was SO wrong. They’re both so broken, but somehow found healing in each other. The way they rebuilt trust and grew together? Pure enemies to lovers GOLD 🔥❤️🔥
And THAT ENDING??? I’m still recovering 😭 How am I supposed to survive until book 3 😩📚
🖤Paranormal Mafia 🩸Blood Demon x Human 💥Action ❤️🔥Slow Burn 💗Family & Found Family 🫦Mature (and s3xy) Couple
NOTE: Can be read as standalone but HIGHLY recommend reading Book one, not only another 5 star read but it revisits characters and plot points that extends a bit to this story.
Review Just as amazing as book one and thrilled to bits that we see all the same faces return in this cinematically infused mafia revenge drama. The mafia meets paranormal aspects to our world is executed with such panache, and a groundedness is always permeating from every interaction. It's a shadowy world oozing with class, danger, grit, passion, and adrenaline!
Our MMC Luca (a blood demon) is overcome by feelings of revenge for the mu4der of his father. Consumed with a way to fulfill his "dark vendetta", we see him struggle with what he believes is the crux of his betrayal and loss. The cost to his soul and losing the ones he loves at the expense of holding on to his anger is at stake... this is what makes great timeless stories!
He's been put through the ringer. He has feelings of guilt and vengeance, but despite this we see how his heart is still very much beating and aches for the love he once had with human, Siobhan. Their history is complex and I loved the several flashbacks to see their sweet and fiery chemistry. And Luca is a presence all his own, oof!
Siobhan is strong, fiesty, funny, and will push back, not afraid to stand her ground. She has been caught in the crossfire of her Irish family's mafia links and wants to wash her hands of it. But Luca and her's star crossed love story, the push and pull...is pure kismet.
We get a wonderfully complex and rich drama to follow, akin to those irresistible crime/mafia movies we all love from a certain Italian director (Scorsese wink wink) but with a paranormal, Romeo and Juliet type twist! This series is a MUST and waiting for book 3 will be a test of my patience haha!
Oh holy hell!! What an ending!!! You must prepare for a cliff hanger of epic proportions.
This second installment to the Bonded in Blood series centers around Luca. Luca has just been cast out by Marco and sentenced to punishment by Vinnie. Luca’s vendetta against the Irish burns deep inside and the only thing keeping him strong through this is his desire for revenge against the rat and family that took his father’s life.
Siobhán wants nothing more to do with the mafia life. She decides to take and find another job and leave behind her family of choice to try and start over again. But Luca’s plans interfere with hers and she continues to get dragged into the world she is so desperate to leave.
What does fate have in store for these two? Well it ain’t rainbows and lollipops.
This book was nonstop adrenaline rush from the very beginning to the end. It is full of blood, gore, gun, violence, and brutality. It has a heat level of 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ as the chemistry between Luca and Siobhán burn up the pages. This story is continuing to develop throughout each book centering around individual from the DaVita clan. The next book will probably center around Vito. All books must be read in order in order to understand the whole story.
His Dark Vendetta is a dark mafia romance centered around blood demon, not to be confused with vampire vampires. It is an exciting rush, filled with heated chemistry and amazing character. It is a unique blend of paranormal and dark mafia romance. I thoroughly enjoyed this story as I did the first one. It’s a roller coaster ride of emotions. I cannot wait until the next book to find out what happens next.
His Dark Vendetta is the second book in the interconnected series Bonded in Blood. While it is a standalone, I recommend reading the first book before diving into this one. This is a slow burn, almost lovers to enemies to lovers, mafia, blood demon (not vampire), dark romance. Siobhan and Luca have been flirting and dancing around each other for two years before he asks her out on a date. I loved that Siobhan was older and career focused. Luca Moretti is part of the family business and is single minded in his quest for revenge against the Shaughnessys for the death of his father. When he learns that Siobhan’s last name isn’t Conley but Shaughnessy, he decides she will pay the blood debt. Luca kidnaps her with plans to end her life, but he can’t bring himself to do it. He finally realizes she didn’t lie to him and why she goes by Conley. I honestly did not like Luca in the beginning. He was bullheaded, blind to the truth, and wouldn’t listen to reason. Once he finally pulled his head out of his a$$, he started to acknowledge his feelings for Siobhan. The stakes get higher and he can’t bring himself to use her against her family for his vendetta. Luca pushes Siobhan away and ends there would be relationship before it could finally begin. Just when Siobhan thought she was going to escape this life, she gets a surprise and Luca has to face his nightmares before they can have their HEA together. Overall, I enjoyed this story and look forward to the next book, however, the characters lacked depth and needed more development to enhance the romance of the story. Some of the important conversations were held with side characters or off page and when the mmcs talked to each other the conversation wasn’t deep enough for me. Although, I did love Luca’s declaration at the end.
Thank you to Katelyn Brehm and Grey’s Promotions for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of His Dark Vendetta.
3.5⭐️ 2🌶️ 📚ARC Review📚All thoughts and opinions are my own📚 🐦🔥Follow me on socials @myrisingphoenixera.reads🐦🔥
without too many spoilers I absolutely loved this book I was hooked from the beginning both damaged souls Sibhan wanted out of the mafia she didn't care much for it , Luca the blood demon wanted the love he had with Sibhan they understood one another and picked one another souls up the spicy in this is chefs kiss 💋 not just a regular mafia romance but paranormal ❤️🔥 enemies to lovers slow burn but the spice is spicing 🌶💋
4.5🌟 I picked up this book expecting mafia, which I got, but then was given a paranormal story as well?! I felt like I won the lottery! The characters fought SO hard for that HEA, and the road they traveled to get there made me tear up several times. I think Brehm has captured a great mix of genres with this series, and I'm excited to read book 3 when it releases next year. 🥳
I received this as an ARC - I've rounded up from a 4.5 rating.
This book begins a couple of months after the ending of Her Dark Salvation, but this time we’re following Luca and Siobhan - the star crossed lovers. For those unaware, this trilogy is an urban paranormal mafia romance, so it draws on each of those elements.
While the place names mean absolutely nothing to me as I’ve never been anywhere near America, let alone Boston, I like how Katelyn grounds her world in what feels like a very real place. This puts the urban aspect as a lovely tapestry or backdrop to the story itself. Initially, there’s a lot of names, and I’ll have to admit, at one point I did give up trying to figure out who is who, but after the first 20 pages, it didn’t really matter. A personae dramatis would have been helpful, but I could just have made my own. With that said, I did like the cast, there’s a lot of characters, but they do feel distinct and serve a purpose.
I adore Siobhan, her character is strong and vulnerable at the same time. Her trauma and her disability was really well written and was woven into the story and wasn’t forgotten about. Luca, oh dear trauma boi…Normally, I don’t continue books if I don’t like the main couple, but this was an outlier to me. I did not care for Luca, I understand he’s traumatised, but a large portion of that is of his own making and then he’s victimising himself, which is not so endearing to me. HOWEVER, he did redeem himself towards the end - but if my friend was dating him, I’d tell her to run because he is a walking red flag. I continued to read, because I cared so much about Siobhan and the story in general - there’s obviously an overarching story within this trilogy. And Katelyn’s prose is so easy to digest. Two things before I finish this long review - I love that Katelyn includes immigrants in her story and shows how the first generation and second generation have different struggles. I also love that all her FMCs are over 40 and feel realistic!
HIS DARK VENDETTA Bonded in Blood series Author: Katelyn Brehm ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/🌶🌶🌶
The middle-aged characters were the best surprise!
What a great twist on mafia romance! I loved the fact that the characters speak Italian-American in the book. It made it so much more authentic than just saying that they are Italian mafia. I also enjoyed the fact that the paranormal aspect wasn't the main focal point. It was the perfect balance. And to have characters in their mid-forties? Icing on the cake!
Although this can be read as a standalone, I highly suggest reading the first book of the Bonded in Blood series, Her Dark Salvation, for the best understanding of the characters and for more emotional impact.
-Interconnected Standalone -Characters in their mid 40's -Paranormal Mafia -Blood demons x Humans -Fangs -Italian-American culture -Friends to Enemies to Lovers -Captor/Captive -Betrayal -Vendetta to settle -Secrets -Redemption -Heartbreak -Angst -'Who hurt you?' -Chronic Illness due to traumatic injuries -Obsessive and compulsive behavior -Found Family
"I want blood. Shaughnessy blood. And because of your lies and because you're a rat, I want that Shaughnessy blood to be yours."
Luca is an angry blood demon who wants long overdue revenge for the death of his father. A vendetta...a life for a life. And he sets his eyes on the woman who was once his friend and love interest, Siobhan. The niece of the man who killed his father. The liar. The rat.
Siobhan left home at the age of 18 and moved as far away as possible to get away from her family ties to the Irish mafia. After Luca broke her heart a year prior, she had avoided him and her feelings. And after he betrayed his foster father, getting her caught in the crossfire, she thought he was dead. But Luca reappears full of hatred and the desire to claim her life for his vendetta. He had been her fairytale love story. Only to become her biggest heartbreak. And now her greatest threat.
Lines begin to blur after Luca kidnaps Siobhan with the intent to kill her. Secrets are revealed that throw a wrench in his plans for revenge and in her plans to get away from the mafia for the second time in her life. How will they move forward? And will Siobhan ever be able to accept not only Lucas's involvement in the mafia, but the fact that he is an entirely different species who feeds on blood?
His Dark Vendetta picks up after Her Dark Salvation ends. Luca has been disowned by his family and taken away. Siobhan is deeply upset over all of it. When Luca is set free from his captives, he vows to get revenge on Siobhan's family for the murder of his father. He takes Siobhan but can't hurt her, they still have this intense pull. Soon they give into their attraction and Luca releases her. Surprises keep happening and Luca needs to tell Siobhan the truth about his family. How will she take it? Can they have their happily ever after? Siobhan was such a strong and independent fmc, Luca the protective alpha-hole. Together they learned you can let yourself be vulnerable and trust someone to love and support you.
Kat is 𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘁 again with her Bonded in Blood series 🔥 This is elite-tier paranormal mafia romance and I’m so here for it 💯🖤
After 𝘏𝘦𝘳 𝘋𝘢𝘳𝘬 𝘚𝘢𝘭𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, I had my eye on 𝓛𝓾𝓬𝓪 + 𝓢𝓲𝓸𝓫𝓱𝓪𝓷… and WOW did they deliver. They’re officially my new favs. Siobhan is a headstrong queen who does not hold back, and Luca? Let’s just say I’m obsessed 😮💨 The spice was *chefs kiss* and I always love a good kidnapping 🖤🤣 this one was spicy with the best kind of slow burns in between.
His Dark Vendetta can be read as a standalone but be prepared for a little bit of a cliffhanger. Her Dark Salvation is the first book in the Bonded in Blood Series which I also recommend!
I like the mafia and vampires. Author Katelyn Brehm combines both and creates an interconnected series that includes doses of the edgy darkness of a paranormal vampire romance and balances it out with mafia crime. It works.
He is described as a modern-day Romeo and Juliet, but Romeo tries to unalive Juliet; “His Dark Vendetta’s” vibe has some dark themes. Luca has a rough history. There are several sad moments, and they certainly validate who he becomes and explain why. I liked Sioban’s character as well. Overall, I was entertained by the story and found myself fully immersed in the world Katelyn Brehm created.
Vampires and mafia, how could this not be fun?! Well it wasn’t. Honestly, the MMCs brand of cold and awful really made me hate him. I understand he had a ton of trauma but he tried to kill our FMC and continuously hurt her and FMC was supposed to be this strong woman, but she continuously capitulated to someone who tried to kill her “even if he couldn’t” do it. He didn’t trust her he didn’t believe her until a man told him to. Also it’s crazy to think the MMCs uncle and family in the mafia were so OK with the MMCs betrayal of everyone and massive tantrum. The FMCs body betrayal syndrome was too much to bear when the first time they were intimate he had just seriously hurt her physically. I just can’t. I read this book with a pit in my stomach and it never got better.
It is written well but honestly there was a lot of repetition and some gaps in understanding when something had been clarified earlier so it was like it was never said.
I really loved the first book so I’m quite disappointed in this one. However I do appreciate that the characters are older however it doesn’t feel like it because everyone acts so immature.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I have been DYING to read Siobhán and Luca's story! From the first glimpse of them in Her Dark Salvation, I've wanted to know what happened in their past to make them "hate" each other. Their chemistry was so palpable. So this book was absolutely everything to me - the tension, the spice, the banter, the LONGING! Oh, my heart was aching with the longing.
Even though I was so curious about Siobhán and Luca in book one, I was kind of worried about liking Luca. He is definitely a playboy and an @sshole, and after what he did to Marco, he was going to have to work to get my support, lol! But it wasn't too long before I understood Luca and I felt so sorry for him. A tragic past with his mother and father, a feeling of abandonment, and nowhere to put all these crazy emotions except in getting revenge. He puts on a tough face, but there were moments of thoughtfulness and tenderness that showed he truly cares. Not to be too spoilery - one of the most powerful and emotional scenes was his confrontation with Marco at the end. I was already rooting for Luca and that just tipped me completely over the edge. He was a different man after that, able to be more open and honest. I understood part one Luca, I loved part two Luca.
Siobhán was simply divine. She was already a goddess in book one and she became even more elevated in my eyes during this book. This is a woman that has had to deal with so much crap from everyone in her life. People who were supposed to protect and love her. But they didn't, so she had to take care of herself. The audacity of men, ugh!! I wanted her to start throwing hands so many times, but her words were sharper than any weapons. She has a backbone of steel. Despite all the pain she's gone through though, she has such a huge capacity to love. Luca has put her through the wringer, yet she still fights for him and loves him through it all. She bends, but doesn't break.
The chemistry between Siobhán and Luca was out of this world! It was literally bleeding off the pages. This was definitely a good, slow burn, even though there were some spicier moments sprinkled in earlier on *wink wink*. The first kiss scene felt so explosive, it almost overshadowed every other scene. Yet the best parts definitely happened in the last 10%. Sometimes it was easy to forget that there's a supernatural element to this mafia story, but when it came around, oh boy. The biting!! I simply died. That was my favorite from book one, it is my favorite in book two. BITING!
I was excited to see the next book is going to be about Vito and Gina. I'm always looking for hints about the next couple in books and despite their interaction being minimal, my eyes zeroed in on them. How can there be so much tension in like two sentences?! I need it!
I've been reading Kat since The Art Collector and the writing and storytelling has always been amazing. But I think everything was taken to a new level with His Dark Vendetta. This just had a different feel to it and I can just see the growth from book to book. The writing was so strong, and the handling of emotions was so masterfully done. This just makes me even more excited for what's to come!
Thank you to the author and NetGalley for allowing me to read an early copy of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I’ve spent my whole life trying to get away from this world, and you keep running to it.”
If you haven't started this series yet, this is your sign. If you like mafia and pnr, and you like your romance spicy, this is definitely your sign.
While this is a standalone in an interconnected series, I highly recommend reading in order. You will get a much better appreciation of the backstory of Luca and the betrayal that costs him everything. This book starts out in the aftermath of that, and if you haven't read the previous book, you may not fully appreciate the redemption arc that takes place here.
I love the unique spin of vampires with the blood demons of this series. But I especially love the combination of dark mafia with spicy paranormal. Luca is a made man who has lived and breathed his revenge for years. He's made mistakes that have cost him everything, including almost his life. And now, his vendetta is just a breath away. And the woman he once was drawn to is his ultimate Judas. Or so he thinks anyway.
I love a Romeo and Juliet vibe, and this brought it in spades. Luca and Siobhan are meant to be enemies. After all, Siobhan's family is behind the death of Luca's father. So what's a man to do? Kidnap the woman he once lusted after with every intention to kill her, obviously.
This was such a wild and quick paced ride. I loved the warring families dynamic and I loved Luca's redemption arc. The romance was romancing and I loved the slow burn of it.
If you're looking for a unique PNR read, definitely check this out.

Katelyn Brehm’s "His Dark Vendetta" is a gripping continuation of the Bonded in Blood series that intricately weaves themes of love, revenge, and the complexities of familial loyalty.
The story follows Siobhán, a character whose journey is as tumultuous as it is poignant. Once filled with hope for a happy ending with Luca Moretti, she now finds herself ensnared in a web of vengeance and peril that turns her world upside down. Brehm captures Siobhán's internal conflict skillfully; her desire for freedom clashes against the suffocating reality of her grim circumstances. The narrative plunges readers into her fear and defiance as she grapples with the dark vendetta that not only threatens her life but also endangers her newfound family. The parallel to Romeo and Juliet creates an engaging backdrop for the exploration of love strained by violence and betrayal.
On the other side is Luca, the embodiment of obsession and revenge. Each day, he navigates a world where he dodges bullets and the law while Siobhán slowly chips away at his defenses. This dynamic brings out an unwanted truth that shatters his resolve to break her spirit and instead ignites a desire to claim her as his own. The author presents him not merely as a villain, but as a tragic figure fueled by loss and anger. The tension between Siobhán and Luca crackles throughout the pages, leaving me on edge as i witness the dangerous balance of their relationship.
The author’s writing is both vivid and evocative, pulling me into the menacing undertones of the story. The supporting characters adds depth to the story, showcasing the intricate alliances and rivalries within organized crime. The stakes continuously rise, creating a relentless pace that kept me turning pages late into the night.
However, the juxtaposition of love and violence may not appeal to everyone. Some readers might find the themes of vengeance and the dark transformation of love unsettling. Yet, for those who revel in stories of star-crossed lovers facing insurmountable odds, this book delivers in spades.
Overall, Katelyn Brehm's "His Dark Vendetta" is a bold exploration of love entangled in darkness. Its rich character development and heart-pounding plot twists make it a compelling read, leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next installment in the Bonded in Blood series.
If you enjoy tales of passion embroiled in danger, this book is definitely for you.
Katelyn Brehm brings the heat, tension, and heartache in His Dark Vendetta, the second installment in the Bonded in Blood series. This time, the spotlight is on Luca Moretti and Siobhan Connally—two characters born into warring mafia families, the Italian DeVitas and Morettis versus the Irish Shaughnesseys. Their story is a combustible mix of vengeance, forbidden romance, and secrets that could destroy them both.
Luca’s life has been marked by loss and trauma. His mother died giving birth to him, and his father was murdered by the Irish mob when Luca was just six years old. Raised by his uncle and fueled by a burning vendetta, Luca is on a path of revenge. That path takes an unexpected turn when he meets Siobhan—a poised, classic beauty managing one of the family’s exclusive clubs. Their connection sparks over casual coffees and lunch dates, an easy and unexpected comfort in their otherwise brutal world.
But just as things begin to bloom, Luca’s world shatters again when he discovers Siobhan is an Irish from Southie. The betrayal he feels is immediate and explosive. Unable to separate his feelings from his vendetta, he kidnaps her, intending to dispose of the “rat” he thinks she’s been all along.
What follows is a gripping, emotionally layered back-and-forth as Luca and Siobhan clash, connect, and slowly begin to understand one another beyond the bloodlines they were born into. Siobhan’s past, too, is steeped in pain—her life forever altered at sixteen by her own family. She’s fiercely independent, guarded, and unwilling to be a pawn. Yet with every stolen moment, every sliver of vulnerability they share, the tension between them turns toward something undeniable.
The slow unraveling of secrets—especially the twist that Luca may not be entirely human—adds a paranormal edge that amps up the intrigue. Their love story is a dangerous game of cat and mouse, filled with betrayal, longing, and the aching question of whether they can overcome the legacy of hate they’ve inherited.
This book was a wild ride. The chemistry was off the charts, the stakes stayed high, and every twist kept me hooked. I rated it 4 stars and I’m already counting down the days until we get Gina and Vito’s story next!
ANGSTY, DARK PARANORMAL ROMANCE WITH MAFIA MADE MEN…
“I waited too long to kiss you,” he said in an awed whisper and brushed his thumb across my cheek. “I could have been kissing you this entire time.”
His Dark Vendetta is Dark, Paranormal Mafia romance story between Luca and Siobhán, a revenge story, full of angst where attraction, love and revenge plays important role. The want for revenge but also to protect the same person you wish to take revenge on is complicated and when you have to choose between family and love, it becomes messier. The story is emotional, with past complications and at the end it’s about hoe to grow together, develop trust, love and moving on to new future with person you love, leaving what happened in past.
The Chemistry between main couple is intense, and their relationship can’t be considered as slow burn but more of as trust and understanding developed slowly as story moves on but their physical chemistry is on top from the starting, and on top of that banter is add-on to story, I adore both Luca and Siobhan, later more than former as our female main character, Siobhán is a woman who strong in her convictions, yet vulnerable due to her past and circumstances. She is strong and self-sufficient and knows to stand her ground. Even after being tired and putting up with toxic people in her life, she at the end, comes out as the queen she is.
Luca is a complex character in my mind; I didn’t like him much in the starting as he was impulsive and a big walking red flag but as the story moves on and his character and back story became more clear I started feeling little bit sympathy for him and at the end of the story he managed to redeem himself, not much but up to some level. I admired his character development, but I didn’t like how he at the starting kept blaming Siobhán for everything even though he was also equally responsible for how their relationship and everything fell apart. Overall, I really enjoyed the book and am looking forward to reading third book in the series. If you are looking for emotional dark romance with Paranormal twist, this is the story for you.
While His Dark Vendetta can be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading book one, His Dark Salvation, first to fully appreciate the rich backstory. Please note: I received an ARC of this book, and this is my honest opinion.
Now, with that out of the way, let me say I am ABSOLUTELY AND POSITIVELY ADDICTED! 🤯
Seriously, His Dark Vendetta has rocketed to the top of the books I've read this year (though I'm holding off on declaring it an all-time favorite until I see how this incredible series concludes!). Everything about this installment was just chef's kiss perfection. I'm honestly a little speechless trying to articulate how much I loved it.
I'm not going to lie, my dislike of Luca had me thinking I would hate this book and all the unnecessary drama he would produce. Boy, was I wrong! The way Luca and Siobhán, two incredibly broken individuals, found a path to healing in each other was just everything. Watching their trust slowly rebuild and their relationship evolve was pure enemies-to-lovers GOLD. 🔥❤️🔥 The chemistry was definitely there and added a great layer to their connection! 🌶️🌶️
And THAT ENDING?! 😭 I'm still reeling. The adrenaline rush from the very first page never let up, and now I'm left here wondering how I'm supposed to possibly wait for book three! 😩📚
This unique and thrilling blend of paranormal and gritty underworld elements focuses on fascinating "blood demons" (definitely not your typical vampires!). The dark mafia romance is brutal, bloody, and intense, but the character development and the undeniable connection between Luca and Siobhán make it utterly captivating. The author has done an incredible job continuing to build this world and focusing on individual members of the DaVita clan.
If you're looking for a dark, action-packed romance with great chemistry, complex characters, and an ending that will leave you breathless, look no further. His Dark Vendetta is a rollercoaster of emotions, and I am absolutely counting down the days until the next book! Highly, highly recommend!

🩸Katelyn Brehm, you’ve done it again! This is the fourth ARC I’ve devoured by her, and at this point, if Katelyn writes it—I am always going to read it. Automatic. No questions. Auto-click. That should tell you everything you need to know: grab her books immediately! 👏📚
In His Dark Vendetta, Katelyn gives us an intoxicating mix of blood demons, betrayal, and enemies-to-lovers angst that hurts so good.
Luca and Siobhán? Modern-day Romeo and Juliet if Romeo had fangs, a vendetta, and a whole lot of unresolved feelings. 🖤
“We both have scars from this life, Luca. Mine are just on the outside.”
Luca is raw, ruthless, and absolutely reeling from grief. Siobhán is strong, fiery, and has had it with mafia drama. She escaped once, and she will escape again—unless Luca’s rage-fueled obsession takes her down first. But oops... feelings. Regret. Longing. Redemption. Cue the intense chemistry that sizzles off the page.🔥
Let’s talk tropes & vibes: 💀 Blood Demon x Human 🔫 Paranormal Mafia 🧛♂️ Captor/Captive with delicious tension 💘 Found Family + Redemption Arc 💥 Action-packed 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Spicy, emotional slow burn 💔 Gut-wrenching betrayal meets tender second chances
This book hurts in the best way. I went from hating Luca’s cold vengeance to full-on rooting for this tortured demon who just wants love and justice.
And Siobhán? ICON. She’s the perfect balance of sass, strength, and vulnerability. Watching them rebuild trust after so much pain? Pure enemies-to-lovers GOLD. ✨
And that ENDING?! I’m not okay. Cliffhanger level: rude. 😭
Katelyn is building something epic with the Bonded in Blood series, and this book absolutely slaps. If you're into dark paranormal romance with mafia vibes, this one will sink its teeth into you. And good luck waiting for book 3—I’ll be in recovery until then. 🖤
Want a taste of danger, passion, and fangs? Start with Her Dark Salvation, then dive headfirst into His Dark Vendetta. You won’t regret it.😈
Luca and Siobhán are intense, their chemistry is off the charts. They played off each other so incredibly well. Where Siobhán is vulnerable, Luca is rash. Where Siobhán is fiesty, Luca grows even more intense.
Siobhán and her trauma, her disability, are so incredibly well written. I appreciated they way they aren't just mentioned and then forgotten throughout the rest of the story - we get to see it woven in throughout the entire book. I appreciated her strength, so incredibly much. While she was so incredibly vulnerable, she was willing to fight for what she wanted. Even in the face of all the pain she was going to have to deal with. But Luca, and the pull of the chemistry between them is more than even she can fight.
Luca, oh Luca. Such an interesting man. As much as I wanted to adore him, I found myself hating him at the same time. He was so focused on avenging his past, on making sure that his family was vindicated, I wanted to shake him to make him see everything he was missing right in front of his face. But he truly has been put through it, and at the center of it all is the want and love that he has for Siobhán.
There is so much going on throughout this entire book, and I loved every moment of it. The ins and out of the Mafia lifestyle, the paranormal aspect, the twist on Romeo and Juliet - there's absolutely so much to love. There is also so much to be said about how perfectly the relationship between Luca and Siobhán was written - the spice, the banter, the pure absolute longing was so beautifully done. I adored every moment of it.
I'm anxiously waiting for book 3 and to see how this series continues.
Tropes: 🩸Paranormal Mafia Romance 🩸Slow Burn 🩸Found Family 🩸Vampires 🩸HEA
He'd thought she'd betrayed him when all she did was love him. He had wanted revenge, and she was going to be the price of his vendetta.
This was one gripping and emotionally intense tale of love, betrayal, revenge, and ultimately, forgiveness and liberation. It had been easy to get carried away with the emotions felt by the main characters + Luca with his long-standing and deep seated fury and need to avenge his father, and Siobhan with her despair and anger over Luca's mistaken belief about her role in his father's death. I could barely put the book down as I'd been impatient to get to the point where Luca would finally realize he'd been wrong about Siobhan all along. And of course I also couldn't wait to find out how Siobhan was going to take it once she finds out the kind of being that Luca truly was. Indeed this book was one outstanding example of a gripping dark mafia romance, containing the right amounts of suspense, drama, and underhanded machinations from the characters. I was definitely engrossed by the book from start to finish. It concluded with a happily for now ending for the main characters, but gave us an irresistible glimpse of the story yet to unfold for another set of characters. Being informed that the next book is to arrive in 2026 is just terrible! I wish it'd be much, much Sooner! Oh well
I am grateful to the author for granting me a free review copy of this book. I am leaving this honest review voluntarily
I haven't read any of this authors book before. If Mafia meets vampires is your thing then this is for you. I think reading the 1st book things would be easier to understand but I do feel it can still be read as standalone. Wasn't too hard to follow or understand what had happened before. Luca is so determined for vengeance for his father's murder he loses sight of everything. Now he has found out the woman he liked lied to him & betrayed him, this seems fitting revenge. Siobhán is heartbroken after loss of the only man she loved. Now ready to move on and away, she wasn't expecting her past to be here. She is actually very strong, she doesn't want anything to do with her Irish Mafia family and keeps away. She has already tasted the horror of it firsthand. Yet that life still haunts her and now it has turned her lover into her captor. Every time he goes to end her, something stops him. But he will do it because he needs his revenge. As the story unfolds Luca starts realising he may be wrong but can he make this right again? They have lots of chemistry but we don't get much spice apart from a scene and a half. But to want her she will have to know the truth. So it's best to let her go. Siobhán knows something isn't right with Luca and he is hiding a secret but what? I did like it spoke about her bowel illness and how difficult it makes her life. Not everyone understands it. It was an interesting story and next one seems like it will be a good read.
OMG MY HEART! So Luca had a lot of work to do for me to like him again and boy did he do some work! Seriously could not put the book down! Love me them Blood Demons!!
First I love the fact that these characters are older (and supposedly more mature but I cannot say that for Luca much as I feel like he was acting a bit like a spoiled teenager 🤦♀️). But I love him now! Also can’t help but love him when he flirts with Siobhán. I literally became a puddle on the floor! But I love her feistyness and how she bugs the shit out of him 😏! AND OMG THE SHORTS!!!! I fucking love her and how she uses the shorts!! She certainly embodies them, I would say she is ‘bad-ass’!!
I also cannot get over the scene between Marco and Luca near the end of the book! OMG I was bawling so hard, the emotion, the rawness of it was just amazing and beautiful! I just wanted to go in and hug them both! 😩😭 Seriously cannot wait for the next book! These Blood Demons have me in a chokehold and I am here for it!! LOVE THEM!!
**Have to throw in the reference to Princess bride……like it’s one of my all time favourite movies! I nearly 💀 when I saw this! IYKYK**
“Good night, Siobhán,” I said, laying on a thick British accent. “Sleep well. I’ll most likely kill you in the morning.”
His Dark Vendetta is the love story between Siobhan and Luca, two people from rival families that find safety in love within each other. Siobhan is a 40-something woman working as the GM at an Italian mafia-run, elite hotel in Boston and her boss’s adoptive son, Luca. Siobhan is the cousin of the head of the local Irish mafia and because of this she keeps her distance; she’s been burned by these enterprises. Luca is set on avenging the death of his father, who was lost at the hands of Siobhan’s family. Of course they’re drawn to each other, Luca wars between using Siobhan for his vendetta and loving her and Siobhan wars between leaving back to Ireland to stay safe and staying and fighting along side Luca.
I loved this story! Katelyn really has a way of making the story hard to put down. Ella and Luca were both frustrating people, I was thoroughly annoyed with their choices but their growth was so satisfying that I forgive them. The plot is so well thought out that it’s hard to believe that most of the events of this story really only took place over a few days time. The supporting characters are also wonderful and flawed. They add depth and substance to the story. I was at the edge of my seat at the end and I can’t wait until the next book to see what happens next.
ARC review. After “the Incident”, Luca is back and ready to seek revenge for the death of his father. He decides to take it out on the Shaughnessy he knows best: Siobhán. Siobhán, on the other hand, is simply trying to get away from the mob life that’s intent on following her. Their game is messy and toxic, and blood will be shed.
It’s a detailed and rich crime world, with paranormal layers sprinkled in just enough. If you’ve read or know about about mafia structure, things will be familiar here. Siobhán’s situation is so frustrating: she’s the only responsible sibling, caring for aging parents while working a high-stress career, and trying to stay out of her cousin’s attempts to drag her into mob business. She has a complicated history with Luca, who clings so desperately to his rage and his vengeance. His refusal to listen or deal with his issues creates so much unnecessary pain (thank goodness for an Italian mother figure to talk sense into him). The story between them is a rollercoaster, set against the bigger powder keg of human and demon, mafia and mob. Looking forward to the next one in the series already.
I loved the concept of dark mafia crossed with paranormal romance and this author delivered and exceeded my expectations with His Dark Vendetta, a deliciously dark and slowburn enemies to lover’s tale and the second book in the Bonded in Blood series. There’s just something about a damaged hero out for revenge but has a connection to his chosen prey. His internal struggle as he desperately wants to avenge his father and end the blood feud but theres a very fine line between hate and love as Luca was about to discover. Meanwhile Siobhan is an innocent blamed for the sins of her Irish mob family. All she wanted to do was escape and start over
This was an exciting and gripping read with plenty of steamy scenes. The writing was fabulous, from start to finish, with a plot filled with heart-stopping moments and action and the spice content was perfectly balanced against it. The characters were fantastic, ruthless, but ultimately broken, and I loved that they were past the first flush of youth…...well obviously Luca was but Siobhan especially. And after that epilogue, I can't wait to read more from the blood demons.
