I’m much too young to be this damn old. I finally understood the saying. Sadly it took a car accident, a brain injury, and a hysterectomy to give me clarity. What a trifecta! Regardless, I’m now questioning everything I ever knew about my life—my seemingly perfect life as a stay-at-home-wife.
I love jeans but my closet is full of dresses. I want to tear down walls and wallpaper everything but I don’t even own a hammer. Who am I? I’m not the domestic stay-at-home-goddess, my doting husband thinks me to be.
As a matter of fact, I’m suffocating in this house and the feeling of being trapped in a life that isn’t mine worsens with every hot flash I get. So does the urge to take a power tool to him in his sleep. But is it only the head injury, or have I actually been kidnapped and brainwashed? Some days, I suspect I don’t think for myself and when Theodore threatens to put me back in the psychiatric ward, I decide to take my little girl and run.
Thankfully the voice in my head leads me to an abandoned house at the edge of a campground in Bohemian Lake where for the first time in my life I realize what some call crazy, these women call magic.
But have I really escaped this time or is this all just another trick of the mind?
Drawn together by a women’s retreat, and bound by something supernatural, these women quickly discover what brought them to Camp Karma is more than just hot flashes, and horrible husbands.

Camp Karma strikes again. Pepper, who some may recognize from a previous series, is struggling. She can no longer live in her fake life. She has a daughter but she is not comfortable in any part of her life. Her husband is wealthy and controlling. Pepper is fighting the control which includes medications. While her husband is out of town, she pulls herself together and takes her husband and new car on a trip out of town. I am so loving this series. Pepper hates her husband. He keeps her in a state of brainwash. Following an accident which caused her to have a hysterectomy, she goes into menopause. Her mind clears, so she takes her daughter and escapes. A friend told her to go to Bohemian Lake - which she does. There she finds out all about herself and what has been happening to her.
Pepper is on the run with her daughter. She has left her abusive husband and ran. She has had brain damage and been hospitalized. She finds her in this town unknowingly that she is from there. She begins to remember her past. Her life has been full of lies and deception. A fast pace and action packed read.
