Hali Waverly is in a good place in her life. She’s feeling better after surgery. Her boyfriend Gray Hunter is moving his office closer to her tiki bar so they can work on their paranormal cases together. Everything is coming up rum-flavored. Unfortunately for Hali, things are about to blow up again. A jeweler’s conference should be easy—they have at least one a month after all—but when a magical tsunami hits at the same time the vault is emptied, trouble becomes the name of the game. There are a number of suspects—a shiver of shark shifters walking naked out of the water the night before doesn’t help matters—but it seems the culprit might have ties to Hali’s grandmother’s coven. Once upon a time, Hali’s familiar Wayne worked for a witch…and then a warlock. Things didn’t go well with either of them. When it seems one of those individuals is involved—and posing a threat to the entire beach—things explode. Hali has never been fond of Wayne but she needs him for this particular mission. More importantly, he needs her. That means things are about to get ugly. Magic is about to take over St. Pete Beach. Who will be left standing…or swimming?
Hali and Grey are enjoying life living on an exclusive beach resort when Grey is side to help with security for jewellers conference he's about to begin. Grey isn't happy but agrees he's even more upset when he finds out there's going to be 50 million dollars worth of diamonds in the hotel.safe and on display during the conference. Obviously the worst happens when a freak tsunami hits from he beach it engulfs Hali and Rusty (Grey's brother) dragging them out to sea. The resort safe is compromised during the uproar and the diamonds stolen. Franklin (the resort's owner) doesn't want to have to pay his insurance to cover the 50 million so gets Grey and Hali to find whoever is responsible and recover the missing diamonds....................easy no? Are in lots and lots of yummy shark shifters and Bod (Grey's beachcomber friend) predicting the arrival of the Megaladon God and it's just another day at the beach...................
Interesting read. There's a lot going on here - a new group of shifters appears, as does an old nemesis and Grey has an idea how to move the pack forward. I'm curious to see how all will be handled in future stories.
I’ve been enjoying this series since I discovered this author. The mysteries have been secondary to the characters at this point, but still enjoying the investigations. These are fast paced stories, and I fly through them in one sitting. I’d recommend binging a few at a time as they can be a little bit addictive. Can’t wait for the next book.
Franklin has another jewellers conference rolling in with 50 million in diamonds in the resort safe and little security. Gray gets dragged in to consult, but neither Franklin nor Mike Deline, the owner of the diamonds, seem to be listening to Grays' concerns.
Meanwhile, down on the beach, a shiver of shark shifters have amassed and strolled naked into the hotel. Hali isn't the only one who got an eyeful, and they seem to be congregating around the beach and tiki bar.
When a sudden storm rolls in Hali and Rusty try to get Bod off the beach, which puts them into extreme danger as a tsunami type wave hits hard, dragging them out towards the gulf. The wave falls strangely short and recedes back from the hotel from where a devastated Gray witnessed Hali and Rusty disappearing out to sea with Bod. The trio are rescued by the shiver but it was enough distraction to give someone time to break into the vault while the power was rebooting and take the diamonds, but who was it?
This book started out a little different than the others but as usual Hali and Gray were in the center of everything. Knew characters have arrive in Pete so I look forward to what their roles moving forward will be. This while a cozy mystery has a romantic component and loads of sarcastic exchanges that have you can laughing out loud. Wayne was even in this one in a slightly different way than is his norm. Looking forward to more of his past which seems to dictate the type of familiar he is or not for Hali. Cannot wait for the next book in this series. Highly recommend but start with book 1.
While beach life is returning to normal for Hali, Gray is moving his office closer to home. Since Franklin’s property is part of the agreement, Gray is roped into a security consult. When a flippant diamond owner, balks at security details, Gray is frustrated. Hali has her own troubles on her hands; a bad past sections from her grandmother Martha. When a tidal wave hits the beach with Hali and Rusty on it it, Shark shifters save the day. Can the resort escape the dangers being set up from a warlock who manipulates weather and a potential theft that ruin it?
Someone should tell the author about hyper-links so I get more than 91% of readable book. It really is frustrating to look down and see that I have 10% of the story left, only to find out it's 500 other books I've already read.
Anyway, this story started a little slow for me, but picked up in the middle. The ending was a touch anticlimactic too. Ah, well, they can't all be winners.
I love this series so much!!! I’ve been excited about this new book to find out how Hali is doing after her surgery. I love all of the characters and look forward to finding updates about them as well (Even Bod! Haha). I really like the addition to the new characters: Jagger and the shark shifters who having decided to move to the area. The dynamics between Gray and Hali are so adorable and I look forward to the new book already!!!! :)
Love Hali and Gray’s love for each other and Hali’s Tiki dreams for her business!i Intrigued with the new surprises in this story and suspicious of the convention group, hmmmmmm.
Hilarious that Franklin continues on as a butthead! and the nasty villain that shows up is an epic one, and the showdown that causes big drama! A fun run read and an absolutely worthwhile read
Lily has done it again, she has a way to keep her characters real and entertaining. I luv how her romance between Hali and Gray is real it makes others wish they had it. I don’t see book 10 in the works this series needs to continue as luv is in the air.
The first three quarters of the book were pretty good, but the "climax" was more of a deflation. I guess that it's like the movies that they put out were only half of the story. Having ongoing characters is one of the things I like about Hart's writing, but there should be a real story in each book. I was disappointed.
No dead body this time but rather a diamond heist at the resort. The clock is ticking for Hali and Grey to find them before the news is made public; which could have catastrophic consequences for Hali if Franklin loses his insurance for the resort.
Thank you! Have bad back and very bruised toe and you made me forget them with this excellent story! Had to keep reading until finished nd now feel a lot better. Love these characters even the pink flamingo is growing on me. Can’t wait for next in series
I liked the story and the characters are interesting. I’m intrigued by the new shifters as well. It feels somewhat unfinished though and I’m sure this isn’t the last time we’ve seen the baddies in this one.
Book 9 finds us back at our favorite tiki bar with Hali and Gray and the gang. There is humor, danger, mystery, theft, witches, shifters (including shark shifters), and a new dangerous warlock. Highly entertaining.
I love Ms. Hart's stories! Out of all the different books I read she is my favorite author. She has a fun sense of humor that she writes interesting mysteries around. You won't be sorry to buy any of her books.
From the moment Hali and Rusty went to Treasure Island, her hip surgery, hip pain, and limitations wasn’t mentioned again in the book. This is the last 2/3 of the book. Previously, it was mentioned every other paragraph! While I liked not having to read about it, boy, what a hole in the plot!
Totally enjoyed it! This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
