When I was a kid, I was torn between whether or not I was going to grow up and be the Incredible Hulk or Wonder Woman. I flirted with being a Jedi Knight for awhile, but I wasn't up for the intense travel associated with the gig. In my teens, I settled on being a writer -- although I had no idea the effort that would entail.
Not only am I a writer now, but I'm a writer in several different mediums. I'm a longtime newspaper reporter, an avid reader and a voracious science fiction fanatic.

Yes Dear; whatever you want

I gave this book just three stars because I'm tired of Poet constantly infantilizing Cade.; something she hates being done to her.
Cade has shown little growth in his abilities, and it's painfully obvious in this story.
He played a more important part in earlier stories, but it seems as though the author has decided that now, he's just going to be Mr. Poet".
I'm all for the equality of women, but I don't think it should come from making the men in their lives less.
As for the story itself, while enjoyable, it seemed a little formulaic this time. That seems to be a danger when a series goes on a long time.
I enjoyed Niixie and Naida's talents getting utilized and Dolph and Nixie's romance coming out in the open!
All in all, I'm So ready for the circus to move to the island!
Hopefully, the author will let the men grow up and come into their own there!

I love this.series.

After eighteen books.this.series.is.still going.strong. The characters are diverse.......human, pixie, shifter etc most of whom.work at the Mystic Caravan Circus. One.of the last travelling circuses in existence run by supernaturals who use it as a place to hide from humans, they also (as they go.from town to town) look out for any supernatural threats which may do harm and deal.with them. If they have to they will kill but Poet and.her friends (Kade, Luke, Cole, Raven, Nadia and Nixie, oh and not forgetting the cross.dressing dwarf Nellie) prefer, if possible to.find.a non lethal.solution. This book sees them having to face.two.very different enemies, both quite deadly, who.don't care who they hurt so.long as they get the prize.they are after..................

Love the wild and witchy vibe of Mystic caravan book 19.
The series continues to be one of my favs and Poet is a wonderful heroine with a fun and funky supernatural supporting cast including her now hubby, mage Kade, bestie Luke and the rest of the mystic caravan regulars with Raven as a bigger part of this story since she and Percy are engaged and wedding plans are part of the story line.

Always excited when one of the new novels is available and they never disappoint!would lovvvve to see this as part of a movie franchise - how magical this series would be properly cast and directed, breathtaking!

An entertaining story, magical characters and an absolutely worthwhile read

I love the story, I love the characters and the setting is great. The book was released yesterday and I had to read it immediately after I got my hands on it. It’s just as good as I expected and I loved it. The next one is already on my list.

Great installment in the series and kudos to the author for not giving us a long insufferable recap of the previous stories like she normally does. Although she did throw in a little back story, for what? I have no idea because trust me nobody who hasn't read the series is picking up book 19, I mean seriously.

Anyway this story was a little different than the rest, Poet was a little more easy going but her normal control freak self. I am a little disappointed with Kade's character, nothing has evolved with his magic and he's just a sad sap of goo goo ga ga over Poet. His character can be better. Cole is becoming more of a main character than Kade and Luke's only good for quick one liners now.

I am wondering if the series will continue once they get to Moonstone bay, which is probably 1-2 books away.

Overall good read.

I like the series and most of Amanda M Lee’s books. I am getting tired of the repetitive themes. The main characters are “ the strongest and most powerful” and everyone keeps telling them that. All of the main characters, especially the men, are incredibly loyal to a fault and hopelessly in love and follow the main characters around and dote on them no matter what they do. The women who are “the bravest, the smartest, the strongest “ keep doing things that contradict those declarations. They never follow good advice, they keep doing stupid things and getting their selves in bad situations. I wish the characters would stop telling one another how strong, smart, loyal, powerful and good looking they are. Instead show these qualities with their actions, not by repeatedly saying it. Still, I enjoy the light humor and will continue reading the books.

Like all of Amanda Lee’s novels, Freaky Curses sticks to her signature rhythm—easy to follow and consistently entertaining. As the 19th installment in the Mystic Caravan series, this book brings the traveling circus to San Diego, where they're forced to set up near the waterfront. There, they uncover a disturbing scene: a Demon and a Gorgon manipulating military personnel and teenage girls, enchanting them into violent, zombie-like brawls—mercifully without the rotting corpses. The team pieces together what’s really going on and, in classic Mystic Caravan style, finds a way to resolve the threat—not with brute force, but with empathy, offering the monsters something rarer than a fight: happiness.

I really enjoy this series. Once we got past the high school drama in the first few books, this series was really good. Lots of character growth, suspense, mystery, etc. Some of the books have been downright scary. I've given them all 4 or 5 stars.

Unfortunately, this one fell flat for me. There was really no action. There was a lot of talking and trying to figure out what was going on. It just felt boring, and I just wanted to get it over with. Which makes me sad because I was so excited a new book was released.

She also kept talking about and thinking about Melissa, who I thought might play a part in this book. But she didn't and this wasn't related in any way.

Poet Parker!

The magic of a new loa would seem as if power is the key. But when there appears to be magic behind missing girls the search for answers quickly escalates. It becomes obvious an enemy must be hiding somewhere but no one in Mystic Caravan is from the area…finding answers doesn’t mean they have all the answers.

It is amazing how this series gets better with every book. Post is tapping into her power and authority and yet her desire to do the best for all stays present

I can’t wait for it!

I knew that if I started this book that I’d end up finishing it way before the next book came out and would then have to wait. Which is exactly what I did! I have a feeling that when everything collides some villains will be making a second appearance! I can’t wait for the next book! It seems the end is fast approaching for Poet and company and everyone is excited about it. There are stops along the way to Detroit and more adventures to be made and I’m here for it!!

Wonderful series!

Love everything this author writes. This series though was my first from her. It's a favorite for sure. Each new adventure is unique. These storylines have a bit of everything. I appreciate that especially the humor. I catch myself laughing out loud at some of the antics and flights the characters get into. I also love the series crossovers interweaving the storylines of each series. Please keep them coming.

No curses here

I think I had too high of expectations for this book because of the cover and title. Instead of curses we got Romeo and Juliet go to the monster circus. I didn't hate the book, I just didn't love it or laugh like I usually would. I'm just bored. So next book please.

The Mystic Caravan in San Diego

Sun, water, a beautiful park...What could possibly go wrong?
With this group and a couple of passive aggressive ancient monsters: plenty!
I won't ruin it for you, except to say the delightful Baron Samedi makes an appearance and the pixies are real stars in this story.
Read it and Enjoy!
A+ Fun & Fabulous!

This one just fell a little flat for me. Kade seemed to fade into the background - Cole and Baron played a bigger part in this than he did. At least Luke's whining was not front and center this time. It feels like the series has already checked out with the upcoming move to the Island and the comments from a couple of characters that people know all about what they are doing in the circus.

Poet Parker is in San Diego and she is experiencing Deja Vu. On the West Coast again with girls going missing or acting strangely. Unwittingly stepping into a power play between a gorgon and a lesser demon. The circus must save the local girls and the naval base from the two machinations. Always a fun and quick read.

Pretty Shmaltsy

Surprise ending. Lots of interesting peripheral characters. One of the things I like best about this series is Poets clients she reads for. They are mini stories in themselves.
Now I want to see them come up against some other lesser demons, for example Mammon.
It's nice to see the other circus players develop. I hope Naida and Nixie get to meet Scout.

Another great Mystic Caravan Mystery with Poet and the gang at the helm where they must fight to save missing girls from a horrible death? or not ? Well they will find out one way or the other and crazy things keep happening to the guys. Whats going on? Thats what Poet intends to find out with the help from the rest of the gang.

More circus fun

The crew is still doing their last cross country lap and this time they're in San Diego. Unfortunately, it's not all fun in the sun when they have to intervene between two feuding paranormals. They aren't ones to give up though, especially when innocents may be in danger.

Freaky Curses

I am loving the direction this series is going. Can't wait to see how Poet's powers continue to develop and Baron cracks me up. Great addition to series. Don't want to do spoilers, but definitely recommend.

Another great read

This is one of my top two series and this book did not disappoint. Interesting final resolution that I didn’t anticipate and lots of great interaction among all the favorite players. I’m even getting to like Baron a bit. Looking forward to the next book.

Good mysteries

There are multiple players causing trouble in this book and some are really powerful, so there’s a question of whether they are too strong for the group to handle. And a surprising ending

Ok but not my fav

I guess that this was not my favorite book. I usually look forward to the circus and Poet. Its just seemed a little phoned in. The characters were shadows and the usual group appeared very shallow. Disappointed.

Always a Homerun

Great read. I love it when the Baron makes an appearance. Often, we don't get to choose our family, but in these circumstances, they do. I love the dynamics between Poet Raven and the twins.
