I don’t know why this book doesn’t have five stars! It has some classic interactive rhymes, a few of which I’ve never heard. My baby loved them and so did I!
Interaction between caregiver and child is so important developmentally and can include talking, playing, and singing. The early literacy practice of playing is promoted with this rhyming picture book as My First Baby Games, an excellent text to share between caregiver and child. While reading this book, the caregiver should play with the child—moving and rocking the baby along with the rhymes—will nurture a child’s print motivation skill by providing a positive, pleasing connection (play) with text interaction. Appropriate for children 0-12 months, My First Baby Games also increases the child’s phonological awareness skills with its rhyming text which promotes speech and language development.
