A riveting story, this thriller deals with the plight of a Midwest town pitted against an evil threat that plagues humanity throughout the world, and now rears its ugly head threatening the good citizens in a small rural community. Lucy Rydell has no idea what she’s getting into when she accepts and invitation to house-sit at her aunt Sylvia’s secluded lake home in central Minnesota. Newly separated from her husband, Lucy intents to use the hiatus to assess her marriage and set a course for the future. Everything goes awry when FBI agents Hunter and Peterson approach her with questions concerning a child abduction investigation. Feelings of betrayal force Lucy to suspect her aunt’s involvement in the heinous crime of kidnapping and the bizarre connections she uncovers as she delves into her family’s past leave her reeling. Regrettably, turning to Detective RJ Rafferty for help could turn out to be the biggest mistake of her life. If you revel in a good thriller, you will enjoy all the twists and turns weaved into this compelling narrative. In SOS, Lucinda reminds us that our present-day decisions can elicit dire consequences in the future.
I met the author, Lucinda Michalski, on an elevator in a hotel outside of Oklahoma City and when she heard I was from North Dakota and knew Minnesota well, she excitedly shared that she’d just published her first book, SOS, set in the Vergas, MN area. She was so excited and proud that I promised to read it as soon as I could get a copy. SOS is a very well-written book with interesting characters and a lot of action. The main characters are likable (and unlikable) and her plot line keeps you guessing. My only wish is that Mrs Michalski had written just a little bit more, as the book left me with a few questions. Maybe they will be answered in a sequel. 😊 I’d like to read more, so please keep writing!
Fast moving. Lots of characters to keep track of. Keeps you hooked so that you don't lose track of who is doing what! Keeps you guessing as to what will happen next
