As an adult reader and a writer/aspiring author, this one brought tears to my eyes. I will absolutely be grabbing a copy and reading it to myself for inspiration, not to mention reading it to my kids. I struggle even calling myself a writer since I’m not published, but this book turns that on its head. I love the imagery and inclusiveness of all the different ways we can write and express ourselves. These are the kinds of books that can change the world! The illustrations are incredible and the perfect fit for this book.

Thank you so much to the author, illustrator, Capstone and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!

This lovely, lively story features a diverse collection of kids exploring their writing life, and reminds that there's more than one (or ten) ways to be a writer, whether it be the genre you choose (fact, fiction, fantasy) or the form (news, stories, speechs and songs) or the method (dictating in a tree, or coloring a story in pictures on the floor, or using chalk, pencil or marker in a classroom).

Perfect pairing with Levington's picture book about overcoming writer's block, Brainstorm.

Rebecca Gardyn Levington does it again! She takes topics that kids stress over, like writing, and adds. her magical touch to--poof!--make readers excited to write! Rebecca's rhyming text makes this story flow, but she's included powerful thoughts within this story. My favorite line: "Write a note to right a wrong." Andrea Boatta's illustrations are adorable, too. Young readers will feel empowered after reading this story, and teachers and parents will love using it with their young learners. Highly recommended for all homes, schools, and libraries!

Teachers and parents will love this picture book, WRITE HERE, WRITE NOW, which plants the seed in children's minds that they can be writers. Then, page by page, it sets them on the writing path using rhyming text and starts with, "Here's a tip for how to start: Think of things that spark your heart. Dreams and wishes, people, places—ANYTHING your mind embraces."

This book provides a whimsical and inspirational approach to learning to write. It will help children who get stressed out when their teacher asks them to write words on paper. It will soothe those reluctant writers by giving them a simple road map to writing when they are asked to write something in school. It does all this while motivating the children in the class who love to write to write more.

The last page talks about Who? What? Where? Why? When? and Now? That says, "Don't think, just write. Take out a sheet of paper and a pencil. Set a timer for five minutes. Start writing everything in your head. You will be amazed by the creative things your brain thinks up. Have fun playing with all your new ideas!"

This book is fun for children to read and will light a spark in their imagination. It suggests a teacher or a parent could set a five-minute timer and ask their child to write down things that pop into their heads. That's short enough that even a child with a short attention span can try it and be successful. Also, it is short enough for a parent to fit it into the child's daily schedule, making it a habit they will look forward to doing, especially if they receive a little praise for the words they wrote.

Andrea Boatta’s illustrations water the seeds that Rebecca planted in Write Here, Write Now, helping kids see themselves as writers. Good luck with the book!

3.5 stars, rounded up.

This picture book encourages kids to explore creative writing. The simple, rhyming text tells them that they can write anywhere and at any time, and describes different approaches that they might take to telling a story. The book also names different types of writing projects, including screenplays, articles, and journals, instead of just focusing on writing a short story or novel. The illustrations are also very appealing, with lots of soft colors and diverse representation.

This book encourages its readers to express themselves through writing, and to know that they can change people's minds and enrich the world by sharing parts of themselves through their work. My one notable critique is that the author tells you to share "your truth." My eyes roll so hard every time I see that phrase. You can share the truth about what happened to you. You can share the truth about your life. But if something is actually true, then it's just true, and it's not "your" truth. Personalizing something in that way just undermines it, making it sound like it's just your private feeling that has no basis in reality outside yourself.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, and I would recommend it to people who are looking for an upbeat, joyful way to encourage writing. This would be great in a classroom context, and it would be a wonderful gift for an aspiring writer.

I received a temporary digital copy from NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is a delightful and heartwarming picture book that celebrates the creativity and imagination of young writers. As someone who cherished writing as a child—whether it was crafting poems or penning heartfelt letters—I found this book to be a beautiful reminder of the joy and empowerment that comes from putting words on paper.

The rhyming text is engaging and fun, making it a perfect read-aloud for classrooms, libraries, or cozy storytime at home. The message is clear and uplifting: every child has a story to tell, and their words have value. The vibrant illustrations add an extra layer of charm, making the book visually captivating for young readers.

Whether your child is already passionate about writing or just discovering the magic of self-expression, this book will inspire them to see themselves as writers. It’s a wonderful addition to any child’s bookshelf and a great gift for budding poets, storytellers, or anyone who loves to create. Highly recommended!

A Million stars to this book! I can't even begin to explain how amazing it is. I have been an aspiring author since I was a little girl. I still dream of being published. How I wish I had had an encouraging book like this growing up. So inspiring and uplifting. Even though the text is simple it sends a big message. It shows so many ways you can write and how. It gives children the basic guidelines and what they mean; The who? where? Why? & more. All this to encourage you to write whatever you want, to write what you would read and to allow your imagination to flow. The colorful illustrations perfectly show the message of the story. A small book with a big message.
I'm so thankful to the publishers, author and to NetGalley For allowing me to enjoy the ebook. I will be buying it for myself & for my little ones who love to tell us stories. I hope it will encourage them both to want to write their own stories. Perfect gift for the little author in your life. Enjoy the adventure.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read and review this book before publication.

I would have adored this book as a kid when I first started writing in 4th grade. But I thoroughly appreciate it now as an adult, especially with self-doubt and writers block.

The rhymes are fantastic and don't feel forced. The art showcases diversity and the different forms writing can take. While this is a children's book, I think it is also important for teen, young adult, and adult writers. Just flipping through it from time to time when writing doesn't come as easy as it usually does would be a great source of inspiration.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a "who, what, when, where, why" at the end of the book. Both a summary and checklist, it wrapped up the book nicely (the reason for reading the book).

I can't wait to purchase a copy for my daughter!

Oh I really enjoyed this rhyming book that inspires and reassures children to write in all and any forms and for all reasons. For preschoolers and up, this book shows the power that writing can have and stresses that in terms of expression there is no right or wrong. I can see this book being a great read in a classroom to encourage anxious or reluctant students, and one on one, to motivate children to flex their writing muscle. The diversity in the illustrations didn't feel forced and tokenish because the text messaging is that all can write and be writers. I appreciated the inclusion of two visibly Muslim girls in the pictures and look forward to sharing this book with my kids and their classes when it is published.

It's not often one finds a book that pairs perfectly with other books. Rebecca Gardyn Levington's latest meticulously rhymed picture book is THAT book. Focused on the craft of WRITING, Write Here, Write Now primes the pump for young readers to think about how they can be creative with words. Where do you start? "Think of things that spark your heart." Back matter answers other who, what, where, when, and why questions about writing. Andrea Boatta's colorful, diverse animated artwork drives the creativity point home--imagination seems to jump right off the pages! "Scribble fast, or take it slow. Play with words and let them FLOW." An engaging, gentle introduction to writing that needs to be included in all school libraries and classroom book presentations. It's a natural.

I love how this book encourages kids to write *anything* their heart desires, at *any time* of the day (or night). This book will no doubt inspire creativity in young readers and start good habits early. What I mean by good habits is things like writing every day, or writing whenever an idea comes to mind. Additionally, this book shows kids that writing is (virtually) limitless. The author makes sure to illustrate how you can write anything you want, and anything you can think up. This is so important and a very heartwarming message for a book to have, while still being simple and concise. Lastly, the illustrations heavily reflect the creativity and multitude of things that your imagination can think of, which I loved. Bravo!

Such an encouraging book to inspire writing anywhere, anytime, alone or with others. “Write what brings you joy – have FUN! Writing is for EVERYONE!” This book has beautiful rhyming verse, and I appreciate the diversity of characters in the delightfully vibrant illustrations. A reassuring reminder of the power of expressing thoughts and ideas in a variety of formats, in an approachable and engaging manner.

With thanks to Capstone Publishing for the digital review copy, via NetGalley. This review is voluntary, and all opinions are my own.

My emerging writer has been inspired by this accessible book since our first shared reading and has not stopped experimenting with various writing formats and ways to share ideas!

As a writer, I absolutely loved this book about writing! The jaunty text and fun, fanciful illustrations make writing seem so ACTIVE and engaging -- which it is, of course, but it is very difficult to SHOW that on the page. This book is successful at that, and as a result feels inspirational for readers to pick up a pen (or a keyboard) and start writing. One of my favorite pages is actually the first one, where the illustration shows "So many ways to be a writer" including screenwriter, blogger, food critic, lawyer, activist. There are so many professions that rely heavily on writing and communication skills, that most kids (or let's face it, most people) don't realize. This book will be perfect in a classroom to introduce students to writing, and inspire them to write more.

My inner child needed this writing reminder today. ♥ I just know this would've been a book that inspired little me to immediately grab my pencil and start writing; even as an adult, it does the same.

I love that the advice goes beyond the 'rules' of writing, showing you can write however you want, whenever you want, with no restrictions. Such well-put poetry and such vibrant, fun illustrations! I really loved this and would recommend to all kiddos, especially the budding writers.

I love the concept of Write Here, Write Now, which details all the different ways there are to be a writer. It doesn’t matter your setting, your choice of tools (paper, computer, etc.) or time of day — just write from your heart and you can’t go wrong! There is no limit to what can be written. The fun, colorful illustrations add charm and whimsy to the inspirational text! I highly recommend Write Here, Write Now — it is a love letter to the amazing power of words/stories and highlights how ANYONE can be a writer. Fun writing prompts are included at the end of the book to stir up some creative juices. This book will inspire many!

Another joyful and inspiring book for kids from Rebecca Gardyn Levington. She never misses a beat with her beautiful, lilting rhymes. At the back of the book, Rebecca gives ideas of when to write (now, or whenever you an idea hits you), what to write (poems, speeches, stories, movie script, anything), why to write (because writing is MAGIC and only you can tell your own stories), and even how to write (set a timer for 5 minutes and WRITE!) The illustrations in vivid colors show kids from all backgrounds having a blast writing. This book is engaging and just might get your young person opening their notebook to a clean page.

Everyone is a writer. They can write wherever they are, about whatever brings them joy, and make a difference in the world. The artwork is inclusive, the message sincere, and the rhyming on point. I can see this being a great mentor text for young readers and writers. I hope to snag a physical copy for my bookshelf after it is published in January.

Until then I am grateful for NetGalley and Capstone for providing me with a digital copy. Add this to your TBR. You are going to love it as much as I did.

So often, kids (of all ages) worry about ‘getting it right’. WRITE HERE, WRITE NOW offers the encouragement, compassion, inspiration and (yes) permission for all aspiring writers to share their own hearts. From developing ideas to the various manners of articulation to the places and moments in which we can create, this book celebrates the art of self-expression. Rebecca Gardyn Levington’s rich rollicking rhyme, coupled with Andrea Boatta’s flowing, color splashed artwork will leave kids begging for rereads of this precious story – followed by requests for materials to create their own!

I've never read a "how to write" book in nearly as short a time. I've barely enjoyed reading a "how to write" book as much, either – this rhymes perfectly, and really bounces our mind to putting pen to page, or phone to voice-note, or fingers to laptop. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't actually offer any real inspirational options, or firm advice about narrative, style and voice – it just exhorts the very young reader to want to create. And that is a perfect first step. Is there a touch too much detail in all the background art? Maybe, but I can't knock it down for that on this occasion.

A wonderful introduction to the craft of writing for children. The narrative playfully invites children to express themselves with words in a wide variety of ways and places, and in so doing encourages children to embrace and express their unique voices. Lots and lots of ways to use this book in the classroom. Andrea Boatta's illustrations are joyful and imaginative - perfect for this book on creative self-expression.

Invitation to share ideas! Write Here, Write Now is an inspirational invitation to kids to be open to their imaginations. Rebecca Gardyn Levington's lyrical, rhyming text combined with Andrea Boatta's dynamic, colorful illustrations shows kids the many forms their writing can take. Backmatter with the who, what, where, when, why and how of writing can be a teacher's guide to help students get started.

Rebecca's books do not disappoint! This book shows students that their words have power and that they can write about anything, anywhere! Kids often struggle with what to write about and this book will surely give them a springboard about where they can start. I plan to use this book to launch Writer's Workshop with my new 2nd graders in the fall. Writing is one of the most important subjects we teach and it needs to start with our youngest learners. I highly recommend this book!

This is a perfect book for encouraging young writers by making the process fun and approachable. Writing can be intimating and this book shows that all writing is valuable and and that there's no "right" way to do it. It would be a perfect book for the classroom - and even better when paired with Levington's other title Brainstorm! The illustrations are whimsical and adorable too.
