This book felt like I was sitting across from Michael & Meredith in a coffee shop hearing them share about what they've learned about prayer and worship. Reading both of their perspectives as they told of their testimonies, their relationship, and how they went from having lives of performers to worshippers, really added to the conversational feel. I appreciated the practical aspects as well. They wrote about the importance of gratitude, making praise personal, and making Jesus the Host while backing up encounters and explanations with definitions, translations, and Scripture.

If you're looking for a "textbook" on worship, prayer, and praise, this isn't it though. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 stars was because I was expecting (and ended up just wishing) that it had a little more of the practicals since the book bio said it was a "hands-on guide." I did appreciate the gratitude practice detailed at the end of Chapter 6, and of course, everything they mention you can pray into, seek out, and learn by leaning in and practicing yourself. I was just expecting more little springboard exercises I guess.

Overall, the book felt like their testimony of the Lord's faithfulness to them and how He revealed His heart toward worship to them. It feels like a spark meant to light a fire in your heart so you desire more and seek it out yourself. Rather than a specific how-to guide, it yells, "Look at what our God has done!" and "Look at what He wants to do!" and invites you into the eternal More that Jesus gives- which is ultimately more of Himself. This book left me encouraged, full of faith, and affirming that they indeed put the "fun back into fundamentals!"

I think what I got most out of this is that things don’t always have to (and most likely will not be) going ‘well’ or ‘right’. Scripture tells us that suffering is promised. And that’s when it’s most important to praise. That’s when we must go against our flesh and worship in spite of what it wants. When we do this, we will begin to see a change, and be changed.
Jesus lifted up sacrifices of praise when He Himself hung on the cross
Run to the Lord, worship Him in all :P
