KEIRAI lived a predictable life until a bunch of Rogue Demons dragged me kicking and screaming into the supernatural world. Now, my best friends are Witches, Zarak, the guy I’m in love with, is leader of the Nephilim, and Angels are trying to destroy everything I hold dear. Zarak insists on maintaining his distance to keep me safe, but that all gets blown to hell when the Angels discover I’m his weakness. Now my biggest problem is finding a way to prove my worth to him and his family. I won’t be their weak link anymore. ZARAKAfter trying and failing to keep Keira at arm’s length so she’ll be safe, she’s in my home and in my bed. Despite her humanity, I know her place is by my side, but fate keeps putting her in harm’s way. She’s the key to rescuing my missing family, but to accept Keira’s help is to risk her life. Out of desperation, I’m left to team up with the Demon Kings and their mates. But if I lose Keira to gain my family's freedom, I’m not sure I—or the world—will survive.
** Please note, while Outcast is the first of the Nephilim series, it is best read after the 4th Kings of Hell book. Reading orders can be found on my website at **
How can I love the Nephilim storyline more than the kings? Or maybe it's equal love but in different ways... either way...the intrigue and drama and background mythology was just perfect and I can't wait to find out what happens next!
As a fan of the Kings of Hell series I was so happy that Zarak got his own book. We have had a few cameo appearances of this elusive Nephilim throughout the Kings series but it's always been at the surface level. Zarak is so much more. A Nephilim who puts duty first because of the love he has for his Nephilim brothers and sisters, but his life has been forever altered ever since he crossed paths with a brave mortal woman who put her life on the line to save a witch from death.
Keira had no idea of the part she unknowingly paid when she risked her life to protect the life of a witch who so happens to be mated to one of the Kings of Hell; with her life spared she has been sworn to secrecy about the true nature of Witches, Demons, Angels and Nephilim. Keira also never imagined she would gain new friends in the form of Cali, Sawyer, Mika and Dmitria all of whom are mated to 4 of the Kings of Hell.
Zarak is trying to keep his distance from Keira because he doesn't want her to be used against him in the cosmic war between Angels, Demons and Nephilim. Unfortunately, fate has other plans. The more arak stays away the more he feels a pull towards her. When Keira life is in danger all bets are off and Karak decided to keep her close no matter what.
Get ready for laughs, action, violence, possessive demons and nephilim, magic, romance and spice. Keira and Zarak were perfect for one another. Keira life went from boring and mundane to an epic adventure and it was endearing to see her father enjoying the ride right along with her.
The Kings of Hell has an ally in Zarak even if they always bump heads due to their nature but both demons and nephilim realize who their true enemy is and must come together and pull out all the stops to protect their mates, themselves and mankind as a whole because the Angels are cooking up something that will spell disaster for both the Kings of Hell and Nephilim alike.
Ever since we first met Amazarak in the Kings of Hell series, I've wanted to know more about him. A mysterious creature that was neither angel nor devil, but extremely powerful in his own right.
I was so excited when Alexis Maree announced he was to get his own book and once I got my beady little eyes on it, I couldn't tear myself away.
There are so many moving pieces interwoven with the Kings of Hell series that my attention was riveted from the very first word to the very last, and I still wanted more.
The world building is extraordinary as are the complicated relationships between the characters across both series. Zarak is as hot as he is mysterious and I found myself wishing and hoping that he'd get out of his own way to get his HEA.
I highly recommend reading the Kings of Hell series first because of the complexity of the story. Whatever you do, do not miss this series!
My thoughts: Where to start with this one, I was immediately drawn to Amazarak when he first appeared in The Kings of Hell series book two, and became friends with Calixta. I just knew there was something special about him and I had hoped deep down that I would get more about his story. I AM OBSESSED, although I am not entirely sure obsessed begins to cover it. The storyline, the chemistry, the steam. I can’t say enough how brilliant it is! Maree always does her homework and she has delivered yet another wonderful story in the PNR world and I learnt a little Hebrew which was an added bonus. I really wish I could move into this book, and be part of the family Maree has created in this book. The story is not at all predictable and even when I thought I might have guessed a twist or turn, I was proven wrong. Amazarak is a wonderfully broody MMC and I want all the books on him. He is not quite a shadow daddy but he is absolutely in the morally grey category with touch her and die vibes and I am here for it! His love interest Keira is such a powerhouse FMC and she did not disappoint in typical Maree fashion. I love her as a character and the way her story developed made me do a happy dance.
This is definitely longer than I am use to for the Kings of Hell series. (Which, I loved the way this one worked with the King of Hell series!) Overall though, wasn't really a fan. I thought the MMC and the FMC were both dull. I don't know. Maybe it was the 'Poor me, I am only a human in a world of supernaturals' vibe that just frustrated me. But it almost felt like a bad soap opera, if I am being serious. I gave it three stars however, because the way Alexis built the world around the Kings of Hell and then used this one to further elaborate and build on a few unknowns was just *Chefs Kiss*. If you are reading the Kings of Hell series, 100% need to add this one.

Another wonderful world from Alexis Maree. I was happy to pick up Outcast, a spin off series to The Kings of Hell series. I actually couldn't wait until this one came out. Zarek is such an interesting character that a book on him brought happiness to me! I loved the way Zarek and Kiera interacted all throughout this story. So many new questions arose, old questions were answered, and a huge bombshell was dropped onto my pretty little head!! I can't believe there so much more to learn. ^_^ I'm invested in The Outcasts the same way I am with it's predecessor. This story was a nice change too. So emotional and beautifully written.
What happens when the most powerful Nephilim falls for a human.... that is the story of Zarak and Keira
This is book 1 of the Nephilim stories which is a companion series to the Kings of Hell series.
We first meet Zarek during Cali and Adrik's story and he meets Keira who was trying to protect Cali after being kidnapped by rogue demons.
Now Zarek has vowed to himself to watch over Keira, but when Angels use her as a trap for Zarek, he brings her to his home with his sibling Nephilims. Can he keep her safe and his siblings from the Angels....
I absolutely love this addition to this universe! Loved getting to know Zarek and his siblings, how Keira tries to give them some normal childhood activities (letting them lick the beaters), the breaking into heaven, Corvins mystery and heart wrenching loss, and the Kings of Hell's pillow fight ..... oh and Aunt Penny and Sid....
Looking forward to more bc I want to see how Caed, Inara, and Areal work out ... and is Cali pregnant?
Zarak and Keira I really enjoyed Zarak and Keira's story. Not only do we get more on Zarak, but I think it also added more to the Kings of Hell series. We get a few revelations as well.
There was action, danger, drama, tension and spice. It was also emotional at times.
I was rooting for Zarak and Keira to be together right away. However, their journey was not easy and it was filled with twists and turns. Of course, also due to Zarka's stubbornness and other obstacles they faced it took so time. In the end, I'm glad they got their happy ending!
I have wanted Amazarak’s story from the moment he appeared in the Kings of Hell series. I loved diving into the Nephilim backstory and how they fit in the bigger picture between the Angels and the Kings of Hell. Keira and Zara’s were so sweet and it made me so happy that Zarak finally found his happiness. I am so invested in the Kings of Hell storyline and I love how this book fit into that. Can’t wait for more!
As a fan of the Kings of Hell I was so excited to get to know the nephilims on a more personal level! I've been interested in Zarak since he was first introduced! I can't wait to learn even more about him! But Zarak made me so mad trying to stay away from Kiera! I wanted him to IMMEDIATELY give in! lol But I'm happy that they finally got it together! I can't wait for the next book!
