Very Interesting 19th Century Account of American Flags

This is a fairly concise (app. 80 pages) story of the history and development of the American flag. The language is readable, not as archaic as I would have expected. Tracing the different flags and the creation of the present national American flag is much more interesting than one might expect. Hamilton writes well.

My only complaint is that the people who digitized the book did not include the illustrations. This is a common problem. Many of the groups who are digitizing older books deliberately omit illustrations in an attempt to make the digital copy easily copied and passed on.

What I have read is not only an historical reconstruction, but also a real interesting story of etnography. This is a brick, and an important one, of the construction of the USA identity.
The numerous citations of letters and acts make me understandhow much important is a flag, and an original one. Also, make me understand that till the beginning the Thirteen Colonies were conscious of theyr origin: not only from England, Scotland, Ireland but also from Dutch and German and France come the pioneers of the USA, as the Great Seal of The United States was originally designed in 1776.

Well done, Mr. Hamilton.
