What an incredible emotional ending to a great series

I can't say enough about this story.. It has so many tearful moments, sparks flying between the characters, the angst and the happily ever after.

The Last Chance and The Best Chance.

Aaron Chance has been the most headstrong character from very beginning who would do anything to protect his family because they are all he has in the world that means anything to him up until a beautiful competitor who is the most annoying person
ever moves across the street and he begins to feel things he has never felt before. However he can't give into temptation.. Until they are forced to work together to solve a murder and he sees her as someone who soothes him when things get dark.

Joanna has been abandoned by both her father and her brother now she has the chance to pick up the pieces by owning her own exclusive club for women who want to learn things that aren't offered to women anywhere else.. However her neighbor who also has a club is most handsome annoying dangerous man she's ever met who refuses to leave her be and he makes her feel things like no one else has but she refuses to give up her club and her independence.. But once they are forced together to solve a murder.. She sees him in a different light and she feels safe with him.

Aaron was willing to sacrifice it all for her but Joanna refused to give up on him.. He was her safety and she was his light. They both protected each other when they were in danger..

The way his siblings and friends stepped up to help him in this story was just a tear jerker.. And not only his friends and family but the ladies of her club stepped up to help her..

I enjoyed this book from the beginning to the end.

I can't wait for the next book from Adele

I received this book from the author as an arc in exchange for an honest voluntary review and this is purely based upon my own personal opinion and that of no one else.

short excerpt:

The fire had dwindled to embers, the smoke from the snuffed lamp a fading white trail in the dimness. The soft flicker of the solitary candle sent shadows dancing across Mr Chance’s handsome features, but he didn’t look at her as he placed Lord Howard’s letters in his desk and moved to extinguish the last light.

“Is it not a little early for you to retire?” She glanced at the fire, wishing the distance between them would burn away just as easily. Was he desperate to avoid spending time alone in her company? “You often sit at your desk until the early hours.” She didn’t say she spied on him sometimes.

He seemed surprised she had noticed his daily habits. “We have a busy day tomorrow, and there’s less paperwork now the gaming tables are empty.”

“Will you manage while the club is closed?”

He’d agreed to fund her trip to France, but she didn’t want to make assumptions.

Mr Chance snorted. “The club generates a third of my yearly income. I plan to reduce that to a quarter when I rent the apartments I’m having built north of Regent’s Circus.”

“You mean to strengthen your empire,” she said, impressed.

“I mean to ensure my family’s long-term future.”

And what about your future? she wanted to say while battling a host of strange sensations: a longing in her heart and a newfound ache in her loins, a swell of pride for him rising like a warm tide in her chest.

“You’ve given them everything they could want. Money keeps a man safe and dry from the elements. Love and friendship nourish the soul.”

“I strive for a balance in all things,” he said.

“That’s not entirely true. You neglect yourself.”

“I have everything I need and want.”

Would he ever admit to wanting her?
Or had Eloise misheard, her confession just a silly mistake?

“And yet your tone lacks conviction.”

He blew out the last candle, plunging them into darkness. Despite the abrupt end to their conversation, the palpable energy flowing between them did not need eyes or a voice.

The atmosphere shifted, unspoken desire humming in the air like a hypnotic melody. Did he feel the sudden crackle of electricity dancing over his skin? Did he struggle to think of anything but their bodies pressed together, swaying in time to the music? Had she imagined the soft brush of his fingers against hers as he moved past her to open the door?

He was kissing her, the woman who lived under his skin, the woman he'd worshipped from afar for so long. He didn't know how he had fallen into her trap or under her spell, but the moment their mouths met, he didn't give a damn.

5 stars!

Aaron and Joanna's book is here at last, and it was just as amazing as I hoped it would be! I have been eagerly anticipating Aaron's book since the first novel in this series was released as the sexual tension and unwanted attraction between Aaron and Joanna has been building with each consecutive book. And while I have loved reading the other stories of Aaron's siblings as they each find happiness, my heart has always loved Aaron the most because he has sacrificed nearly everything for the safety and happiness of his family. Even though he doesn't believe himself to be worthy, he deserves a peaceful and loving life, and Joanna is just the woman to break down his ironclad defenses.

The relationship between Aaron and Joanna has been one filled with secret longing and witty barbs that disguise their underlying chemistry. However when Joanna turns to Aaron for help after someone is murdered in her club, they are finally forced to acknowledge their mutual attraction as they work to discover who is responsible. As much as I loved Aaron before, this book made me adore him even more. He was such a loyal protector, with a secret caring and vulnerable interior, and I yearned for him to find happiness after everything he has survived. Joanna was such a great heroine as she was not afraid to see Aaron for who he truly was and ultimately allowed him to make peace with his demons. This entire series (especially this particular book) has been one of my favorites by Adele, and I cannot wait for more matchmaking schemes in the next series🖤

Tropes: frenemies-to-lovers, murder mystery, protector hero, heroine-in-danger, he falls first, secret pining, 'it's always been you' vibes, villain who's one step ahead, 'burn the world down for her' hero, found family, band of brothers, STEAMY🔥

This is my 41st book by Adele Clee and have been reading her since 2016. I love her writing and know I'll always get a good read from her. I also love that her books have a little danger, suspense and intrigue in them. I am loving this series.

I really loved Aaron and Joanna's story. I loved the intrigue and the suspenseful storyline. I love a good "ton" book with ballrooms and dancing but then I read a great thriller like this and I love these too. :) Especially this series and Adele's writing. Always so good. Really great read. The couple was hot, sex was hot. Definitely recommend.

1831 Aaron Chance is the owner of Fortune's Den and hated heir to the Earl of Berridge. Late one night, Miss Joanne Lovelace owner of the ladies' club The Burnished Jade, on discovering the body of Lord Howard in her club runs to Chance for help. Unfortunately both have a motive for his death, but can they find the culprit before they are arrested and quietly hanged.
An entertaining and well-written historical romance and mystery with its cast of likeable characters. Another good addition to this enjoyable series which does have mature content.

I really enjoyed this story with romance and mystery. At last, the story of the oldest Chance brother, Aaron and Joanna Lovelace. Joanna is quite an independent lady, who runs her own club, which is on the opposite side to Aaron’s gambling club. They have had numerous meetings and although they feel an attraction, Aaron, especially, tries to deny it. An event at Joanna’s club brings them closer together, but will Aaron put anyone before his family and own up to his true feelings. There is a murder to solve and also a mystery concerning Joanna’s father and brother. I enjoyed Daventry’s appearance and his matchmaking efforts. There is passion and a few surprises, as well as trying to decide who can be trusted. I’m looking forward to the new series, where old friends will feature as well.

💋💋

I’ve loved every book in this series, and have been dying to read this last one.
Will Arron and Miss Scrumptious become a couple?
We all know the answer to that, the real question is how do they get to their HEA .

A wonderful story that totally keeps the attention throughout, I adored all the characters.
The plot was interesting and twisted just when you think you’ve got it sorted.
Just brilliant!
Adele your my go to author for all things romantic and thrilling.
Highly recommend.

Finally a book about Aaron! In the previous series of books, the author brothers Chance - Aaron and Christian were very important leaders in the affairs of Daventry, and at the end of the last series there was a phrase that Aaron cares so much about everyone, when there is someone who cares for him. And then Aaron fell deeply into my soul, I really wanted to read his story and see the woman who would become his partner, and I can honestly say that Joanna did not disappoint me.
I will say frankly that the books about the brothers disappointed me, I think that these brothers deserve more than unsuccessful actresses, runaways and seamstresses, and I was also somewhat disappointed that in these books we already saw Aaron's chosen one, that it did not become a surprise in the last book.I read the book in one sitting without stopping, although the author's template is standard, but this final investigation was intriguing, interesting and unpredictable, I enjoyed every minute.
But why, despite everything, did I not give the book 5 points? Because for me, the plots of all Adele Klee books have the same fundamental flaws.
1) I don't like this monotonous line of matchmaking when the heroes are forced to live under the same roof, closely cooperate in the investigation. Honestly, I want people to fall in love themselves and find their way to each other without matchmakers like Daventry. After all, Aaron is a strong and decisive man, but when it comes to love, he was not only indecisive, but also behaved like a donkey, insulting the heroine in every way for six months and at the same time taking care of her 24/7. And if it wasn't for Joanna herself, who began to tempt him in every way, pushing and challenging him would not be possible.
2) The second follows from point 1, which is that I did not believe in such a rapid development of love on the part of the heroine, it all took less than a week. As readers, we knew that Aaron fell in love with her at first sight, but it was the heroine who sought him out. Plus somehow for me her story and she herself is somehow implausible - such a beauty who takes your breath away and is single at 28, no one has won her over and she herself is a matchmaker and knows how to seduce like the best temptress, she also hasn't found anyone - this is some kind of sur. But the drama of her life is more like a soap bubble for me.
3) The author changed Aaron's character. In all the books, he is silent, rude, stubborn in expressing his thoughts and feelings even in front of his brothers. And here we see so much frankness from this side, a sea of flowery compliments, it simply does not fit with the image of the hero, people do not change like that. This is a clear overkill on the part of the author.
4) I am disappointed by the resolution of the finale in all the author's books. That is, the entire book is conducted by the heroes of the investigation and they themselves do not bring it to the end, the problem is solved easily and by itself - the criminals betray themselves, and almost self-destruct, or it is not the heroes but outsiders who do it. So in this book, the author made Marquis Rotem the hero of the book, I understand that the next series needs to be announced and he is a key character there, the story of which everyone will be waiting until the end of the series (as was the case with Aaron), but for me it is a huge disappointment that the strong the Chance brothers, who so courageously helped all strangers - the heroes of the previous series, the author made indifferent bystanders who simply stood aside while the brother was in danger. We saw a little glimpses of Aramis and Delphina, and the other two were simply not there, and let's face it, these brothers were braver and more determined to save other people than their own brother. For me, the author just pissed off the strong characters of the previous books in order to advertise the next series. Well, the ending is crumpled, too fairy-tale and unrealistic for me. I would like the author to better write a longer story than this one and sustain the character of his characters to the end.

So often, when we get to the end of a series and it's finally time for a beloved character to get his or her HEA, this grand finale book is sadly underwhelming and cannot compare to the ideal you had built in your mind. I'm thrilled to report that was not at all the case in this book. Having read the previous books in the series, Aramis had a solid seat as my favorite Chance brother, but I think he's now been dethroned because no one can quite compare to Aaron. He has been quite an enigma for the entire series and I have been so looking forward to peeling back his layers at last. We all knew he had scars both inside and out, that he was a protector with a heart full of love for his family, but I at least, wasn't quite prepared for just how much depth he proved to have and that can only be a testament to Adele's writing and planning.

From her appearances in previous books it was clear that their was a spark between Joanna and Aaron, but equally clear that Aaron would never let her past his walls. I loved that Joanna wouldn't take no for an answer, that she saw the real man behind Aaron's thick fortress walls and wouldn't rest until she brought him out. I adored seeing both Aaron's bravery and his vulnerability. Perhaps the most rewarding was seeing previous characters, Aaron's friends and family, rally around him when he needed them and show him that he truly did not have to face everything alone, take everything on as his own burden. Never has a hero been more deserving of his HEA and this one was absolute perfection. I cannot fault it. I stayed up finishing it and immediately wanted to start it over again and did in fact go back and reread my bookmarked passages. It was great to see Aaron truly step into his own power and embrace his worthiness, moving beyond the fear and self-flagellation that had driven him for so long. He truly embraced his role as head of the family and received the respect and happiness he deserves in Joanna as the most steadfast partner. I'll not stop raving on about Aaron, but I loved that Joanna was willing to be open and vulnerable with him, make him feel safe, and really pursue him, knowing that he would deny himself no matter how interested his was in her. It was fantastic to see her show him that he could still occupy his role of head of the family without forsaking his own happiness. Aaron now sits right up there with Lucius Daventry as a favorite hero, possibly even a smidge higher than Daventry himself. If you need an escape that ticks all the boxes, do yourself a favor and grab this book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Last Chance – Last Challenge

Mr. Aaron Chance has spent most of his life fighting for his family's survival. Now he's fighting to save Miss Lovelace, with a little help from unexpected friends. I have been drawn to Aaron Chance's character since the first book in this series. His backstory of extreme pain and loss, as well as his unwavering duty to protect his family made him a (very gruff) hero, but oh so worth loving.

Miss Joanna Lovelace (aka Miss Scrumptious) tries to help empower women in a man's world. Never did she envision she might run afoul of the law and be accused of murder. Her character coming out of the shadows has been a long time coming. Finally Joanna gets to reveal her past of loss and violent betrayal. She is a surprising voice of wisdom.

Although the attraction between these two marvelous characters is combustible, the challenge they face will test them to their limits. If they can overcome their fear of even greater loss they stand to claim a prize beyond their imagination. The Last Chance is more than a tale of romantic love (as the historical world views it) but instead theirs is a deep soul searching journey from unimaginable pain to enormous but fearful joy. The author, Adele Clee has masterfully woven together their absorbing tale as they stand on the cusp of love, but also on the knife edge of total disaster. They will need to work together and accept help if they are to claim a well deserved HEA.

On a personal note, I was a bit overwhelmed by how much I loved reading Aaron and Joanna's story, I had to wait a few days before writing this review. I just could not get my mind to settle. Instead I kept replaying scenes and enjoying the very sweet and romantic ending. I plan to go back and read The Last Chance again, after I re-read the first four books. If you have not read the first four books, don't worry. The Last Chance stands alone. That said, you really must read the first four because they too are five star reads.

Content 411: This book contains the following: discussion of a violent assault, threats of violence, in ring fighting, mild swearing and described sexually intimate thoughts and scenes.

Disclosure: I received an ARC of this book from the author. I am voluntarily submitting my honest review.

Wow, what a ride it has been with this series! Each book has had tons of surprises, intrigue, mystery and suspense. I loved them all. Anyone who has read this series knows we all wondered about Aaron’s story. He is the oldest brother of four plus a sister they saved from the streets. The boys had a horrible life after their mother died and their father remarried. Aaron was forced to fight grown man when he was just a boy due this his stepmother control over his father. He did whatever he had to and was put thru much pain to save and protect his family. Now they are all grown and have married. He has money and is feared by many as he owns a gambling hell. His one and only vice is the lady who has open a women's club across the street. Miss Lovelace has also had a hard time of it after her brother and father went missing. Left with nothing she was finally able to open a club for women only and it's her life. The devil who lives across the road is both a pain in the neck and also her dream man. As both Joanna and Aaron use witty banter and talk to keep their true feelings and thoughts at bay. She has helped him with some of the trouble the other boys/now men have gotten into. When she is accused of murder, Aaron knows he will do anything to save her. His brother and sister have nicknamed her Mrs. Scrumptious as she is the only one to get under his skin. Oh, my! As these two are thrown together to save each other from prison everything they have hidden comes out. So many secrets are uncovered, there is plenty of suspense and danger alone with the under currents and plenty of steam between them. So much going on and the return of all the family, friends, servants and of couse the lady who saved them all, Mrs. Maloney. I would suggest reading the books in order. You will get so much more from the stories if you do. I can’t wait for the spin off series to start. What a treat as I thought this would be the last book with the Chance family. I received an ARC from the author and wish to thank her. This is my honest opinion and am freely giving it. If you read no other series this year this is the one not to be missed. I know I will go back and reread them all for sure.

Tropes: enemies (frenemies?) to lovers; forced proximity; MC's team up to solve a mystery
Steam level: 3
Part of a series, and best read in order.

3.75 stars rounded up. I think my hopes were maybe a bit too high for this final entry in the Rogue's of Fortune series (this book was one reason I resubscribed to KU). I do think it's more emotional-particularly in the 2nd half-than many of the author's books, and I was drawn into the bond between Aaron and his family more than ever, as well as his relationship with Joanna. Aaron's heartbreaking past and his efforts to keep his loved ones safe were genuinely moving. My interest was also piqued by a couple of the secondary characters, particularly Rothley. However, some elements bugged me:

--I expected Joanna and Aaron to have more of an adversarial vibe at the beginning; Joanna in particular seemed too fawning. There were some scenes throughout where she didn't behave like the tough, feisty woman I thought she was in the previous books. I wanted more sparks.
--The mystery stalls a bit in the first half, the characters moving in circles when things could
have been concluded more quickly. Then toward the end, there are a few pretty obvious holes/ questionable actions leading up to and during the Big Confrontation scene.
--The steam is effective overall, but the intimacy sometimes clashes with forward movement of the plot. We're supposed to believe that the MC's have very little time to save their own lives, but they engage in sexy times when the tension is highest. This leads to hot/cold behavior and rather cringy dialog. (I did like a surprisingly spicy scene about midway.)
--Lastly, I felt like Daventry and his wife were misused as characters. They spend more time being hot for each other and making ribald comments than helping the MC's.

Overall: if you're a long-time reader of this author, you'll appreciate a stronger focus on the characters' emotions and enjoy Aaron and Joanna's HEA, but some other elements don't quite gel.

Miss Scrumptious and the King of Clubs!
A marvellous series finale that lives up to the tantalising anticipation that has built and sparked since Aaron & Joanna's first clash of wit, will and sniping-good, attaction-heady bickering in book 1. The sexual tension crackled, reeled me in and captivated as much as it swept me along on a tale with dark haunting secrets, confessions and twists. All entangled around an intriguing murder mystery to solve and the steaming hot connection the pair emit as they tease, provoke and whett your appetite by keeping you invested.
As always this was so well written where the close proximity they were forced into radiated with sizzling chemistry as a murder hung over their heads in their race against time bid to prove their innocence. I love how it drew out their insecurities, opened up internal wounds and brought them not only to the forefront but closer together, beyond a hesitant friendship, as they stood side by side to fight their foe, internal vows and struggles, and the most deliciously deepset attraction and desire to just steal a moment and succumb to temptation.
THE LAST CHANCE is an engaging mystery entangled romance, bewitching in connection as it weaves around two that can scorch the very page they are written upon with their chemistry.

Really looking forward to the next series. As we are teased so beautifully with the prospect of a new one following on where this one ends...as we hop, skip and jump to the Burnished Jade and get better acquainted with the intriguing ladies in pursuit of a match of their own. Can't wait!
Highly recommended book and even more highly recommended series. Just loved it!

The Last Chance is the fifth and final book in Adele Clee’s Rogues of Fortunes Den series and we finally get Aaron and Joanna’s story.
Aaron Chance, the formidable owner of a notorious gaming hell, is driven by a desire for vengeance shaped by his tragic past. His life leaves no space for love, yet he finds himself captivated by Miss Joanna Lovelace, the alluring owner of a ladies’ club. Aaron has to remind himself that his interest is purely business. When a peer is found dead at Joanna's club, she turns to Aaron, the only man she trusts to help investigate. Their connection deepens amid the chaos, challenging Aaron's resolve to keep love at bay. Aaron and Joanna have been dancing around each other since the first book in the series and I loved how they finally achieved their HEA.
Aaron has always been the slightly overbearing and overly protective brother but here we get a chance to really see the sacrifices he made for his family. His gruff exterior hides a vulnerable man who will do anything for family. He truly deserved to find love with Joanna. Joanna is a great heroine. She really suffered since her brother died and her father abandoned her but she is resourceful and a true survivor. I loved her character.
As ever, the story is well written. The plot is fast paced with a mystery to solve and a satisfying conclusion to the series. The inclusion of Aaron’s brothers and sister gave us an opportunity to catch up with their lives and as ever it was great to see Daventry and his wife.
We are given glimpses of the protagonists of Adele’s upcoming series and I am really looking forward to the first book. I received an advanced review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I loved this book! It was a great way to end the series, but I hate that it is over. I loved the Chance family. Aaron was the oldest and the protector of the family. He had sacrificed his own happiness for his siblings his entire life, but Joanna Lovelace was the one woman that could make him question his family vows. In all the previous books, Aaron and Joanna had a relationship that was full of bickering, but it also hinted at their attraction to one another. This was the book that finally brought them together. While working to prove their innocence, there were no longer able to hide or deny their feelings. She brought out the parts of him that he thought were dead due to his terrible childhood. He showed her the loyalty, love, and protection that she never received from any other man, especially her father. This was a story of love through acceptance. This series was about the love of family and how nothing would change that.

This book was well written with strong character development. I loved them all! The plot was interesting with a lot of twists and turns, and it also introduced new characters that will make interesting leads for their own stories. This was a steamy novel about a great couple with a detailed plot and storyline that kept me interested. There was a murder mystery that needed to be solved before they could get their HEA. I couldn’t put the book down. I read it in one day!

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

The final book in a series that stole my heart with its romantic escapades wraps up with a flourish, delivering a love story I've been itching to read—and it surpassed my wildest dreams. The spotlight in this fifth tome is on Aaron Chance and Miss Joanna Lovelace, whose sizzling chemistry has been bubbling under the surface from the get-go of the series.

Aaron, the epitome of a storybook hero, has been my champion since day one; his bravery, devotion, family values, and complexity make him irresistibly charming. Joanna, a beacon of smarts, elegance, and tenacity, is clearly Aaron's soulmate. Their evolution from frenemies to lovebirds is a masterclass in storytelling, brimming with suspense, fire, and raw emotion.

The author's writing dazzles, blending humor, heart-thumping romance, and historical precision. The dialogue zings with sharpness, the scenes burst with color, and the secondary ensemble adds a cozy, enchanting touch to the story. In short, "The Last Chance" is a swoon-worthy curtain call that exceeds expectations; it's an ode to the author's talent for weaving tales and love stories that stick with you.

I suspected that the book revolving around Aaron Chance & Miss Lovelace would be intense, but wow!! Their story had me all in from the first chapter, & I couldn’t put it down. All the usual mystery & intrigue, but it also hit me in the feels. It even had me wiping tears a time or two. There’s plenty of witty dialogue & action to balance things out, though.
The other couples in this series had to fight circumstances and/or personal demons to be together, but this one beats them all. The mystery’s intense, the feelings are intense, & the clock just keeps counting down.
Both Aaron & Joann are loyal, almost to a fault. Neither has been willing or able to put duty aside to think of their own happiness. They’re both survivors, & it seems to help them understand the other really well. It’s not surprising they’re willing to make huge sacrifices for each other. I appreciate the ending that segues nicely into a new series. I hope to see how Joanna’s matchmaking skills compare to Daventry’s. He’ll probably still pop up when needed. Thanks to the author for allowing me to read an advance copy.

Clee saved the best for last! I was waiting for Aaron’s book with bathed breath, because he was the most intriguing character of all, and I wasn’t disappointed! I’m definitely adding this book to the top five of my favorite books of all times. I felt for Aaron so much since the beginning, because despite being arrogant and hard and grumpy it was obvious that he had a heart of gold and I really wanted to see him happy. And when I got to know Joanna better after her first few appearances in the previous books, I knew she was the one for him. Strong, confident and with a painful past, she’s not discouraged by the walls Aaron has built around himself and finds a way to tear them down. Their chemistry is over the top even when they just banter with each other, but when they touch? It’s an inferno!
I also enjoyed immensely the action and the mystery interwoven in the plot, that captivated me until the end and wasn’t predictable at all.
I’ve just two regrets… That the series is over and that I can’t rate this book a thousand stars!

We all knew Aaron has a crush on Joanna Lovelace owner of The Burnished Jade aka Miss Scrumptious! When she dashes across the street in her night clothes with the news there is a dead Lord Howard upstairs in her club!
This begins the strangest courtship to date! He and Joanna have history and so does Chance! There are several moving parts. Dead people found, new relations, nonstop action! Somewhere in all the mayhem these two fall in lust and love. Aaron has secrets and so does Joanna and they will tear them apart and maybe pull them together!
Love how the whole family comes together to let Aaron know his sacrifices were not in vain! But Arron is prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice to ensure their futures for the next generations to come.
These two are fire and gasoline as all of Aaron’s emotional baggage tumbles out and Joanna has to be strong enough to take it!
What a rollercoaster ride to the finish! Bravo excited for Daventry’s role in this one and the next series.

Adele’s stories are full of intrigue and mayhem and if you don’t pay close attention to the complex stories you miss all of the fun. Aaron had me laughing out loud. Who knew he was a funny guy? In this series I firmly felt that Aramis was my guy but slide a little over Aramis, Aaron has taken your place. We all knew Aaron’s story would be epic, but how epic? We were not ready for this story. Okay, so we were, but it has lots of surprises and fantastic characters, plus the usual family and of course Lucius. Desperation. Desperation for the truth, desperation for acceptance and desperation for love. Joanna and Aaron are such beautiful people and this is a stunning love story. Adele always amazes me with her stories and how wonderfully they are written. I will say it again, if you haven’t tried one of Adele’s stories, give her a try. Even though this is a standalone story, I would suggest starting at the beginning of this series (also try her other series).

A beautiful ending to the Rogues of Fortune's Den series!!! I couldn't wait for Aaron's story. The stoic tortured brother who fiercely protected his family above all else. This was such a touching love story with wonderful characters. Joanna Lovelace owns a club across the street from Aaron chase's gaming club. They can barely tolerate each other but is there an underlying attraction that they are both denying? A murder mystery brings these two characters together. Their love story was amazing. A definite page turner. You will love it. I would recommend reading the first 4 books in the series to understand the storyline. The other characters are in this book too. You will absolutely love this series!!!

Wow what a finale to a fabulous series. Since he was a child Aaron Chance has always put his siblings before himself and sacrificed so much. As each of his brothers and his sister found happiness they worried about leaving him. Aaron has already met his match in Joanna Lovelace, nicknamed Miss Scrumptious by his siblings. However, Aaron has high emotional walls and has made self sacrifice and art form. But when Joanna is in trouble he realises he has unknowingly rolled her under his protective wing. A beautiful love story of 2 people who have suffered so much over the years and deserve a happy ending. Loved it.

I’ve really enjoyed this series along with all the others associated with Mr Daventry, and I’d been anticipating this book release and it didn’t disappoint. What an ending to a great series.
Aaron was always my favourite Chance sibling and I’m so glad he got his HEA. Joanna was certainly made for him. Their chemistry was made known prior to this wow and this was explosive. Right from the first chapter, this book grabs you, moves you, gives you all the feels and emotions as if you were one of the main characters.

I’m so sad it’s the end but can’t wait for the next series with the Jade ladies. I’ll especially like to see Gabriel (Rothley) have his own HEA.

OMG, OMG, OMG I was so happy to read the last book of the series “Rogues of Fortune’s Den”
Whoever is out to get the Chance family set out to finally take out The King of Clubs, Aaron Chance. Miss Joanna Lovelace of the Burnished Jade seeks help when she discovers a dead body in her club across the road from Fortune’s Den. In helping Miss Lovelace he begins to realise that he may be the target and just a pawn in the game. Brilliant finish to an amazing series! Couldn’t put it down. The characters are strong as is the storyline. I loved getting to know them.

I received an ARC copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review.

An amazing romance!
I enjoyed this book. It's an entertaining historical romance with a hint of mystery. I loved the two main, lovely characters, Joanna and Aaron. The relationship between Joanna and Aaron is incredible. They are captivated by one another but refuse to acknowledge their mutual attraction. They both look out for one another and try to keep their distance. They have to solve a mystery together and overcome their fear, some hard times, and their past before letting themselves find their HEA.
I received a complimentary copy of this book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Riveting Historical Romance with Mystery

Can a dead body bring two people together? Aaron and Joanna have been at odds, but everyone around them knows that what is between them is far from hate. When Joanna discovers a dead body in her club, it is Aaron that she seeks for help. As the two investigate, evil and treachery are revealed. In the end, it will be a fight for both their lives. As they fall in love, each is determined to protect the other. Do they emerge victorious?

I enjoyed this tale of mystery and romance. I recommend it to those who like historical romance with plot twists that will keep you turning the pages.

Miss Scrumptious & the King of Clubs!
This story is the last in the series. Sigh! But it was THAT good too!
It started with a bang, ended with a boom and everthing inbetween was wonderful - the characters, the story with all of it's mystery, the evil deeds and of course the charmingly romantic Mr Chance and the delightful Miss Joanna Lovelace.
I loved it all, in fact I couldn't put it down!
I have just finished reading an early copy and highly recommend this book and also the earlier ones in the series.

I waited so long for Joanna’s and Aaron’s story…
I loved how they pretended they couldn’t stand each other in all of the previous books… I loved that his family nicknamed her Miss Scrumptious - That was hilarious ..I was so worried their story was not going to be everything I wanted it to be… It was amazing from the first page. I could not put it down… The mystery was mostly confusing, but most of the time I don’t care about that part of the story anyway 😂😂
This author writes amazing, passionate, funny, deep true love stories… And as always, I would have liked a little more steam.. ❤️❤️❤️

The heroine and hero have a competitive relationship in the beginning of the story, but I never figured out why the hero thought a women’s club competed with a men’s gambling club. They always have sparks when they meet and now they have to solve a murder before one of them is arrested. I like how in the end all the siblings and spouses come together to help. It was a good ending for the series. I’m looking forward to the next series which will involve this pair the the background. I received an ARC for an honest review.
