A fantastic read. Hayes leads InnerChange, an international ministry among the urban poor. He honestly, respectfully, but very directly outlines what it looks like to follow in the steps of Jesus among the marginalized of our world. His calling out and criticism of the western church is spot on. Hard to put down, this book is full of wise insight for anyone working with the poor and marginalized.

This is a powerful book. Using life experience, stories & history, this author paints a picture of what God is doing among the poor and why the reader needs to take notice. This book will challenge, spur on & encourage the reader towards incarnational ministry in some of the darkest places on this earth. For anyone who has a heart for the poor, this needs to be read.

An encouraging and convicting look at what it means to follow Jesus in loving and caring for the oppressed. Hays emphasizes a balanced spirituality where accountability, community, and solitude are integral parts. I liked it.
