Maybe because it was 2am and maybe I was delusional when I finished this book but I don’t even know what I read🥴 at first when I was reading it I was like “oh this is cool, I could see this as a Netflix show” wrong…once I hit about 60% the same conflict kept repeating and they were using the same phrases like “we’ve never seen anything like this before” and the ending… did he turn into a human AI!? So strange and not what I thought this book was going to be!

A book with potential but was let down by a plot that was all over the place.
From Chapter 1 it was obvious who Emily Kingsley betrayer was and despite the ‘qualities’ and special attributes of Rusty and Sarah they couldn’t see what was in front of their nose.
Sarah? How many times did the author need her to betray Rusty?
How many times was he blinded to the fact that she was working for the other side? Remember, the author goes out of the way to tell us about their special attributes. Instead we see a ‘specialist’ military man blindsided again and again.
So many goose chases and betrayals until he’s captured and becomes another Mindwaves’s target.
Mindwave is not about ‘control’ or ‘manipulation’ it’s about unlocking the full potential of the human mind……a network that links the minds of the humans being experimented on. So it is about control and manipulation. At what cost? Destruction of free will, privacy, the very essence of a humanity?
But Rusty, that guy who couldn't see the end of his nose? Well he somehow had the brain power to shut down the whole network system and blow it for good. 🙄
I jumped to the end to see how the author wrapped this up. Rusty was no longer human. He was a Guardian of the multiverse. Rusty Caldwell. Navy Seal was gone. Replaced by a being of cosmic power and understanding Sarah? Well she and Rusty would shape the future of the multiverse ushering in a new era of cosmic wonder and unimaginable potential. 🫨
So nope.
Not for me.

Jim Caldwell(Rusty) a private eye was called by Robert Kingsley to find Emily Palmer a scientist who was kidnapped. He works with detective Sarah Blake on the case. This is a fast-pace, full of action suspense read that has you on the edge of your seat. I received this ARC copy via Booksprouts and leave a honest review. I recommend this book to other readers.

This was Rusty and Sarah’s story. Sarah, with her unorthodox methods and razor-sharp mind, is unlike anyone he’s ever worked with. High-profile individuals in Los Angeles are vanishing without a trace. Teaming up with the enigmatic detective, he’s plunged headfirst into a conspiracy. It was an intriguing and intense read. And voluntarily leaving this review.
Set aside an entire day for this exhausting contemporary philosophical science fiction mystery fantasy procedural reminiscent of early twentieth-century science fiction.

What an incredible view into something unimaginable that really is beyond anything possible. I needed to get to the end just to see that the disaster was avoided and humanity continued as normal.
Good read Jim/ Rusty Caldwell is on a mission to find Emily Palmer a kidnapped scientist called in by Robert Kingsley . Rusty parters Sarah Blake who takes no shit and known for her unorthodox methods . The two detectives are thrust into a cloudy maze of suspense and suspicion. I’m leaving my review voluntarily in my own words .
