This book begins with the premise that the journey to healing from Complex PTSD begins with a crucial decision to move forward. It is a simple but necessary decision. Personally, I was only able to begin healing from my own inner turmoil after I chose to do so and chose to focus on my own health and recovery. This is a helpful workbook with step by step information to decode Complex PTSD and recognize symptoms and triggers. It incorporates detailed body work and healing through movement and nature. Ultimately, it teaches the reader to live their best life through healing and self-acceptance. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is struggling through their own battle with recovery from Complex PTSD.

self-help books from a first person’s perspective are the best.

My humble opinion is that self-help books from a first person’s perspective are the best. You can always have a professional explain something to you without really understanding it themselves because they never lived it. I agree with the author that therapy and healing is individualized and that what worked for one may not work for the other. But knowing that healing is possible to the authors, experience is inspirational. I especially like the journal prompts throughout this book.

Amazing holistic steps to live with complex PTSD!

Dr. Lockhart really seems to know what is going on with individuals with complex PTSD and offers concrete steps to help individuals thrive with this condition! I love the holistic nature of the recommendations. This book would be good for individuals with PTSD and their loved ones!

A clearly written well researched book, augmented by simple, yet powerful illustrations. Gives you the power to take charge of your own life. The false memories section was especially poignant. With each of the ten steps a transformation is closer to reality

One soldiers path to healing

It is well-written and offers valuable suggestions and help. Many people are suffering from things they don’t know how to process. This book offers a lot of value to anyone suffering from PTSD or C-PTSD—it’s a very good read. I’m not wild about all the AI art, but the message is great.

Very relatable book for women with CPTSD
Although the author presents information in a straight-forward and easy to follow manner, parts of the book were difficult to read because of relatability to personal circumstances. I was thrilled to take a break and try the butterfly hug technique (yes, I did feel better). The self-regulation strategies balanced well with suggestions to seek assistance from others. I would definitely recommend this book to women who have encountered trauma - even outside of a military career.
