They say the streets will chew you up and leave you for dead. Here a young girl’s dream is a mere memory. A bleak and hope-draining existence. A place where a man’s cruelty hides behind a veil of deceit and smiles.
FBI agent Blake Wilder has spent her best years taking down the most depraved souls. Even though she has seen great evil, it has not taken away the sparks of hope she has. Hope that helps her endure and continue the fight for the good guys.
When she receives a call from a detective in New Orleans regarding multiple missing women, she faces a perplexing case with no bodies, spanning multiple decades. The only clues to the potential crimes are shoes bound with a red bow on the beds of female victims, ones who are never heard from again.
Upon arrival in the vibrant city, she is met with both appreciation and scorn by the police precinct. Unfazed by the unwelcoming environment, Blake searches for clues to find the missing women. From the swamplands to the marshlands, there are no concrete clues to the disappearances. It seems the perp has committed a series of perfect crimes. With no trails or even body parts to go on, the red ribbon case feels like an unsolvable riddle. One that only leads to dead ends and defeat.
Deaths, desperation, and vanishing working girls. Some truths are to cover up the illusion of something far more sinister.
Elle Gray lives in a small town with her 2 cats, and her handsome husky. As a girl, she was obsessed with crime novels and thrillers.
Today, she loves writing and creating thrilling novels with courageous, strong heroes/heroines and dangerous psychopaths. She invites you to join her exciting world of detectives and FBI agents that take down killers and kick butt.
I recently discovered this author and I love the way she writes. Storylines are mapped out well with the right amount of twists and turns. Who doesn’t love a badass female lead?! Excited to read the next book in the series.
Enjoyed the book, really like Blake and the team. Took off one star because it got confusing on the murdered girls. Odette Simeon's friend was Winter Franks, but later they kept saying her friend was Allison Bowe who was the last one murdered by the Red Bow killer. ???
This was another fantastic thriller, and a great addition to this awesome series. Blake Wilder and her equally wonderful team have been through numerous cases together, but this time things are going to be extremely different from how they usually work. It's certainly not a story that you'll want to miss! I would definitely recommend this book, series, and exceptional author.
I have to admit that I wasn't sure how things would work out for Blake and crew when they agreed to this new endeavor. However, I'm thrilled to see that it seems to be exactly what this team needed. I really hope that it'll continue, and that there will be many more stories in the future!
The author and this series are both probably worth 3 stars. But this book was not and I want to remind myself not to read more of the series bc this book almost had a 5-star rating when I was researching it and I can see myself trying to download more in the future.
The story was like one I've seen on a 1,000 Crime drama TV shows. I knew how it would go, easily guessed the antagonists, and wanted to hurry through most of the dialogue. The main character used the word proclivity so much that when the suspect said the word proclivity, it was just another example of how rushed she seemed to be to write this book. One example.
The 25th novel in Elle Gray’s Blake Wilder FBI series is tautly paced and smooth reading. After all this time, Blake feels like a real person. I have read other series by Ms. Gray - but none compare to this one. In fact - I don’t recommend ones that are written with her in partnership with other authors. It is patently clear through grammatical errors and overuse of the same words that Ms Gray is not writing the bulk of those novels. But this book and this series continue to receive a solid A+ rating from this voracious reader.
Another fantastic installment in the Blake Wilder series. I loved seeing the team split up and tackle separate cases this time—it added a fresh dynamic and kept the pace moving. The cameo by Senator Hedlund was such a fun touch, and I still can’t decide if she’s trustworthy or not, which makes her appearances even better.
Just when I thought I had the killer figured out, the story surprised me in the best way. I usually catch on halfway through or spot things the characters miss, but this one kept me guessing and fully entertained. A truly great addition to the series, and I’m already excited to dive into the next book.
Although I enjoy this series by Elle Gray I found this one hard to get into. Blake and her team are working under different people now although they are still with the FBI. When she gets a call from a Detective in New Orleans that wants her help in finding a serial killer who is attacking prostitutes. Blake has to make a decision as to what case needs them most. In order to do what needs to be done she has to split her team in two. She takes half and Astra takes the other half and they go separate directions. When the case is solved the killer turns out to be someone they didn't even suspect.
Weekends are always the perfect time for me to stop and enjoy an Elle Gray novel. Perfect Crime made the perfect weekend reading into Monday afternoon. No murderer can hide for long against Blake Wilder and her impeccable investigative team. Splitting the team up ion two different cases was hard, but it was time for Astra to shine. I had sort of figured out the ending, but it blow my mind when the actual killer was revealed. This is another great Elle Gray spellbinder!
This one is part of long Blake Wilder series. I really like Blake as the person she portrays. She and her team get into some interesting situations. The people that make up the team make for a great story. I would never guessed who the culprit was in this story. With Elle Gray welding the pen, I am ensured of a great story. I was proven right again in the Perfect Crime.
One of those books that you expect to be another Ho Hum FBI agent solves crime in a very expected manner. The one redeeming quality of this book is the team dynamics and good paced read. Although, I did find myself sitting down and devoting a couple of hours to finish the book. Predictable ending but the team dynamics was what kept me interested and sparked my curiosity enough that I am going to start reading this series with book 1 and see how far I get...
Once again, Elle Gray has a successful Blake Wilder outing. This book kept me guessing right to the end. I love the process that these characters go thru to solve their cases. After every case, I look forward to the next one. I have also started reading all Elle Gray's other series & love them.
In “The Perfect Crime”, Elle Gray once again concocts a great story line along with interesting characters set in the “Big Easy”. The separation of Blake and Astra in their investigation endeavors was a good move for the story and sets the stage for more great characters and stories. Bring on the next Blake Wilder novel!
Using Blake's two different places is completely different. One team in New Orleans and the other in Arizona was interesting. They discovered who the killer was in New Orleans and stopped the drug supply going into a prison. Anyone liking to solve a mystery should read this book.
I really enjoyed this book. It was well written, just like all of those that came before. But there was a new twist: the team was split in half to work 2 cases at once.
I have read the first 25 Blake Wilder books and the 4 Paxton Arringtons. I can’t wait to start book 26.
Every single book in this series is riveting. Probably the best series I've ever read !! I just hope the author, Elle Gray keeps writing this Blake Wilder FBI Thriller series !!!
This is a great thriller.I can't wait to read the next book. After reading the ending it sounds like the next book will be really exciting. I could not put this book down. Loved the suspense and intrigue. I highly recommend this book and series.
I have read all Blake Wilder books and this can not be the ending!!!! You left me hanging by my fingertips alright Elle Gray get to work on book 26 I'll be waiting and hoping.
First time reading this author, hopefully won't be the last! Truly great story and wonderful characters. Good mystery and surprising twist at the end. Looking forward to more!
After a long hiatus, a New Orleans-based killer resurfaces, and a detective enlists FBI assistance, as an equally weighty smuggling setup draws half the team westward.
Fantastic suspenseful well written!! FBI Agent Wilder and her team are relentless and keep working to solve the case. One of my most favorite series and looking forward to more in this series!
The Perfect Crime(Blake Wilder FBI Mystery Thriller Book 25)
OMG!!!!!!! This book was soon worth the wait. I just love the way they managed to solve 2 separate cases and all come home again. I can't wait to read the next book.
The narrative flowed cohesively. The characters exhibited strong chemistry, and their interactions were convincing. I found this book and this author's work to be compelling.
I really would like the drama around Blake to come to an end, one person cannot have that many enemies for doing her/their jobs. This sometimes takes away from the overall reading experience I want from a good investigation, mystery thriller.
I enjoyed this book. There were a few predictable moments, but in the end still had a twist to what you thought you knew. I did enjoy the strong female leads who showed they could still tap into their softer side.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I have said t before but it gets repeating 'I don't know how she does it. The things she knows the stories she tells... its just amazing!! I have learned so much from her books. Thank you Elle Gray for so many hours of utter enjoyment!!
Didn't see that twist coming. Love the characters in this series. Interesting twist on their investigation. I would of hoped that there would have been checkins , but overall good book.
