AL is an artificial lover. His sole purpose is to bring pleasure to women. Like other sex-bots, he is designed with the end user in mind. Precise and accurate sensors make him sensitive to a woman's state of arousal, which allows his processors to program and adapt the perfect routine to ensure complete customer satisfaction. Unlike other sex-bots, AL has fallen in love.
Erica lives in New Zealand—otherwise known to the rest of the world as: that pretty scenic place where they made the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies. She spends most of her time writing (also procrastinating), reading, hanging with her long suffering husband and frolicking with the neighbour’s cat. As a writer Erica delights in plotting evil and writing it all down for others to read and enjoy/despair–muahahahahahahahaha!
This author is very good at making you care about the characters. You may have noticed from the other reviews that they are not happy about the sad ending. Why would they be upset if they didn't care about the characters? Answer; they wouldn't. In other words, in a very, very, oh so very short amount of words, this author made me feel a lot more than other books I have read that were much longer with more character development. And honestly, there wasn't time for much character development at all. I can't even figure out how she did it, but I'm very impressed.
I can't wait to read the story that this is the lead in for!! Brava!
Wow! I actually liked this and I definately would have liked more. It is a story about a sex-bot the only real thing lacking in this short story is the fact that it would make a fantastic novel. Al -- is not supposed to have feelings because he is a sex-bot but he does and falls in love with the woman who does his maintenance. Funny huh? Well it was a pretty good book the author just needs to write a complete story and not something so short ..
I don't know what rating to give it really, because it was so short. I'm in between a one star and a two star. There was no chemistry between the characters. I understand that it is a short story, and it was a freebie on the Kindle Store, but it should have been better than that. I've read novella's that had more depth and story to them. This novella was like a piece of paper, very thin and could blow away in the wind.
No surprises, I read this both for the cover and the brevity of the story. AL is a sexbot who's fallen in love with his cleaning lady, Sally, on her daily routine visits to clean him between clients. Poor, sad AL decides to act on his feelings one day, and the story concludes with the sad discovery of AL's true form.

I felt cheated by the end. There was enough here to make a real novella at the minimum. AL, a sex bot with artificial intelligence, has found love, but she ha no idea. For her the unthinkable happens to her as she is performing her job. She will not return and thinking of AL's loss has me a bit mift.
This was ok. There was a lot of potential in this story. It was super short and took practically 2 minutes to read. I wished it was longer. It's like a teaser trailer. There wasn't really much to the characters but I would've like a little more meat. This was basically a steamy scene, but the emotional background of AL made it a little more. Good Luck
cute short story. sad too. AL is a robot who loves his cleaning woman Sally. he acts upon his feelings one day. the sex was ehh. but the twist at the end Great!!
