An innovative guide to permanent weight loss without dieting or exercise helps readers identify their "inner hunger switch" or "type" of brain problem that stimulates weight gain, which is correctable by using prescription medication or natural supplements, and provides a program devoid of diets, mood swings, and patterns of overeating that are rooted in brain chemistry.
I wish I could turn off my hunger switch! I've always been fairly slim but menopause hit and KABOOM! The first half of the book was all about that weight has nothing to do with what you eat or exercising and the second half was all about watching what you eat and exercising. It felt like two different messages. I do believe that you need to watch what you eat, you need to move and some people need to have medicine to manage hunger through brain chemistry.
Paul Rivas stated occupation is 'bariatrician'- a doctor specifically treating (obese) people that can not lose weight through tried & true traditional mmethods of healthier eating and exercise. His basis is that there are 4 different profiles. There is a lot of information in this book. I ploughed through it in a few days. As I started out reading, I think I was a bit bored and skeptical of his mmedical view and info regarding certain 'treatments'. A few days later, I happened to catch a BBC documentary on weight loss that validated those precise medicinal treatments he covered in his book. I guess if one has unsuccessfully been able to lose weight or keep it off through real effort using traditional no-gimmick methods this could be a book of interest to you and helpful to your next visit to your doctor. The reason for the 3-star rating is because I don't have real mmedical issues pertaining to weight. I picked up the book out of curiousity. For mmyself drinking water, eating healthy, reading labels and mmoving mmy butt works for mme. isabelydancer00
