I am writing this review not solely as a review, but as a testimonial that the advice in "Ready for True Love" really works!! Specifically, the chapter entitled "Date Like an Exotic Bird" not only saved my skinny little white girl @$$ from saying "yes" to a date with a guy who is, frankly, a loser, but helped me feel empowered in my own sense of self while doing so. "Ready for True Love" is full of paradigm-shifting advice on dating in the contemporary world, as well as jaw-dropping anecdotes that will teach you so many valuable life & love lessons along the way. The book is built on the premise that there are five traits that make a person "Dateable" (though, I believe I actually counted six traits); these are revealed gradually throughout the course of the book. At times, the book gets a little repetitive, and the interruptions advertising Love Moderne (the book's parent website) made me roll my eyes, leading me to suspect that this book was once a series of blog posts. Also, I have a slight bone to pick with the book's criticism of the wonderful work of Dr. John Gottman, as it takes his prose out of context. Other than that, there is a lot here to help you gain (or regain) confidence in your sense of self as you navigate your dating life.
