With snuggly images that look soft enough to touch, the creator of FLOSS tells a bedtime story certain to soothe the most restless child.
"Good night, everyone," says Harry the elephant. Zzz, goes Lulu. Snore, goes Ted. But Harry can’t sleep. He reads and cleans. He wriggles and worries. Will sleep ever come? Will his friends Ted and Lulu be able to help? Kim Lewis soothes fidgety little listeners with a tale about comforting friends- and the solace of sleep.
Harry, the elephant, is sleeping in a cozy bed with two other animals. He can't sleep. The author finds it important to go into lavish detail about Harry's discomfort.
Finally, a solution of sorts is presented: Harry's two friends keep him company in his sleepiness-without-sleeping. Lo and behold, it works.
FIVE STARS to readers who like this sort of thing:
* Educating children with TMI detail about problems they may never have, only now their imaginations are free to worry about that very prob. * Giving impressionable children the idea that whenever they have problems, friends are the Always Solution.
Personally, I strongly disagree with both of these ideas. But if this is your favorite thing to share with children, welcome to it!
As with the rest of the series, the illustrations here really make the book. I must say, though, that Harry reminded me of me in this volume. Night like that are really, really rough. They don't go into the grumpiness that Harry probably went through the next morning when his alarm went off and he had to go to work...or, wait. That was ME! lol Cute book through and through, although it was a little long for my audience.
I remember the youngest member of the household was less engaged with this story when they were very young - there's no dinosaurs, no explosions, just a bit too chill for this child!
Fast forward and now the same child found the illustrations absolutely adorable. Also we regularly have trouble getting to sleep so seeing a fluffy elephant lovingly settled to sleep was much appreciated.
Harry the Elephant, and his friends Lulu, and Ted are preparing for bed. Everyone says goodnight, and Lulu and Ted fall fast to sleep, but not Harry. Sleep won't come to Harry, so he tries a multitude of things to help him, but nothing seems to work. His restlessness wakes Lulu and Ted, and they both try and help Harry fall to sleep.
Three friends cuddle up together, but Harry cannot fall asleep! He tries all kinds of strategies including keeping himself busy, but sleep still will not come. Finally his friends wake up and realize he needs a little assistance falling asleep again. Only with the comfort of his friends’ company can he finally fall asleep.
Harry and his friends Lulu and Ted cuddle into bed for a good night's sleep. Although Lulu and Ted have no trouble falling asleep, Harry can not. He worries and finds things to do that should make him tired, but nothing helps. When Lulu and Ted realize Harry can't get to sleep, they do what friends do. Sweet illustrations.
3.25 Stars Oh, you had me at stuffed animals! I nice little Goodnight book and it also goo for a child who can't sleep. Either from, worry, or any other reason! It all works out in the end and sleep was had by all!
I thought that this was a cute book. My son read this book to me and I thought that it was a good book for beginner readers. This is also an AR book for anyone who might want to know. I would recommend this book to others.
What a sweet and beautiful book. The illustrations are captivating and the textures so soft you can almost feel the blanket and the animal’s fur. The storyline is easy to empathize with. One to be read over and over.
Aww, so cute and the story is very sweet. The illustrations make the book. I want to jump in there and fall asleep with these adorable stuffed animals. The next time I can't sleep I'll remember this book.
Harry the elephant is having a terrible time trying to fall asleep. His friend Lulu and Ted are both sound asleep in the bed, but Harry just can't seem to fall asleep. He tries everything, but then his friends wake up and help him. Harry gets just what he needs to drift off into dreamland.
Anyone who has ever been too tired to sleep will relate to poor little insomniac Harry the stuffed elephant. The good news is that the soft and fuzzy pastel illustrations set a cozy mood and by the time you finish reading, you'll be ready to drift off. The perfect bedtime story.
My 4 year-old did not get into this book about an elephant having trouble with his bedtime routine. I liked the illustrations, which were cute and funny, as well as the juxtaposition of the elephant and a child's bedtime. Might be fun for when my younger child inevitably has some bedtime issues.
This would be a really great book to read right before nap time. While reading this book, I would probably get stuffed animals that were in the story and have the kids take turn feeling how soft the animals are and also having other materials that are as soft as the animals.
When I was young I thought my stuffed animals were real. I protected them as if they were pets. I like this book about living stuffed animals, and friendship.
I don't thinks this book even deserves to be rated a one. That is an understament. Worst Book EVAR!!! I had to read it, like every night. This book is awful. Don't read it.
