All That Remains Behind

Rate this book
A politician disappears, and a severed hand is all that remains behind…

With the case of the Bone Artist finally closed, John Kincaid is sent to New Orleans when the hand of a beloved, prominent political figure appears on the man’s own doorstep one misty morning–with no sign of the rest of him.

As the investigation deepens, Kincaid soon learns that public personas can be deceiving…and that something darker lies just below the illustrious surface of the Big Easy.

With little help from a local police chief intent on sending him back to prison, Kincaid must not only keep watch on what’s in front of him, but on his back as well if he wants to find his way through this twisted case and come out the other side.

All That Remains Behind is the chilling continuation of the John Kincaid Crime Thriller Series from Jack Dane, perfect for readers who love Michael Connelly, David Baldacci, James Patterson, and D.D. Black.

Too many flaws in the storyline

I did read the whole book just to find who was behind it all. I was not enamored by the story because there were some serious flaws in the story. Especially when he was tied with zip ties by his hands and feet, yet the captors failed to see he was wearing an ankle bracelet. Don’t want to list any others without giving away the story. My favorite characters in the book was Scraps and Cassandra. Apart from Kincade I found no depth to the other characters. A plus was the ending, made the whole tedious read worth it.

This author is extremely talented and a brilliant writer. I have read most of his books and have never been disappointed.
This is book 2 of a series with the same main characters but a new crime to solve. This time the killer is delivering the severed left hand of his victims, the first being a prominant politician campaigning a run for Senate. It is quite a puzzle as they unravel many motives and suspects. You would never guess who is responsible for the murders.

John Kincaid

Leblanc was a piece of shit. An example of a pig taking credit for work of good people working under him. Poor John, I don't know how he finds the strength to keep putting up with these assholes. He is a smart, compassionate man who is solving cases and slowly healing mentally from his wife's death. I look forward to reading the next book.

This was hard to only give 4 stars. Really enjoying Kincaid, and liked the characters. Only gave it 4 stars as I felt like he hinted at who the accomplice could be too early. Had it been revealed right at the end, might have given it 5. Moving on to book 3 now though, as I have really enjoyed the first 2!!

amazing!

Great 2nd book in a series, but it could also be read as a standalone. Much better in order though. Never saw each twist coming. A new favorite author for me, for sure!
