About the author

Alison lives near Glasgow, Scotland with her husband. By day she is the superintendent radiographer in charge of a busy MRI unit, by night she turns into a real-life Jessica Fletcher - iPad at the ready.

When she doesn’t have her nose in a book you will find her out running; planning her next house project or foreign holiday or obsessively (her husband’s words not hers) cleaning the house. All whilst listening to Depeche Mode or James on repeat.

Her first book, The Sculptor, is the first in a thrilling new Scottish crime series that introduces you to Police Scotland’s tenacious female detective sergeant, Tracy McGregor. DS McGregor is a former DCI in the CID. She is disgraced and stripped of her rank following a mistake she makes in the handling of her previous case. Desperate to redeem herself she relocates to Inverness where she takes up the position of DS in charge of cold cases.
The first book in the series follows Tracy’s journey from disgrace to redemption, as she chases a serial killer, whilst taking the reader on a wonderful journey through the Scottish Highlands.

The Sculptor (DS McGregor Mysteries, Book 1) by Alison Aitchison, Audio Version.
A very impressive debut novel. The plot is well thought out and moves at just the right pace to keep you hooked without dragging. Tracey, the police officer, and Katie are both very likeable, believable characters, and I found myself quickly invested in their stories. The mystery itself is gripping, full of tension, and had me wanting to listen to just one more chapter.
Simon Aitchison’s narration is excellent—clear, engaging, and really brings the book to life.
Overall, a real page turner [or in this case, page listener!]. I’ll definitely be looking out for the next in the series.

Great read

The book follows the lives of Tracey a police officer who's taking a new job with the police in a new town to escape a tragedy that had been caused by her and Katie who's starting a new job in a new town to escape from her ex fiance.
Tracey starts looking into cold cases of girls who had disappeared within the area, Katie is being stalked unaware she could be the next victim. This is a great read from start to finish and I found both characters easy to warm to. Looking forward to more DS stories from the author

An entertaining, well written first novel by this author. An excellent premise,, Great characters, the dogged investigator and the latest victim. Told from both angles it keeps you involved throughout. One interesting thing is there is practically no dialogue in the book which is a little unusual but an interesting style of writing. Narration is excellent. i received a complimentary copy of the audio and am leaving a voluntary honest review.
