On the Same Page with God by Jenn Soehnlin is a 5-course gourmet meal in book form. You can’t help but want to savor every sentence and yet still set it down with your soul nourished at the deepest level.

Jenn walks readers through understanding the practice of prayer with personal anecdotes, well-researched input from Bible teachers throughout history, and scripture in a voice that is not just knowledgeable and winsome, but kind.

Part three of the book is especially helpful, with chapters guiding readers through praying over specific topics like your family, fear and worry, and healing. Jenn’s done the work of pulling out specific scriptures, but also teaches you how to do it for yourself with approachable, simple steps. My spiritual self is so much healthier after reading and applying this book.

I really appreciated this book. I had the chance to give feedback on the chapter about justice, which was excellent and very dear to my heart. I feel like many people like to pray but very few know how to pray for justice.

I also really liked hearing the author's stories. What is most helpful about his book is that it is a resource we can come back to time and time again to pray with scriptures over various subjects. Having something easy to pull out like that is a great assistance.

What an important book. She has taken some really difficult personal circumstances and used them as a springboard to dive into scripture. We know how important it is read and pray scripture, but she really helps us break down the specifics. I have already used some of her prayers and find them super helpful.

In Amazon Books there are over 50 pages of books related to the topic of “praying scripture” Many of these books are written by well known Christian authors who have written multiple books on this topic. So what makes On the Same Page with God Embracing the Power of Praying Scripture special?

This is a book for wounded prayer warriors that gets to the heart of prayer. In this book the author writes about how God changed her heart as she practiced the spiritual discipline of praying scripture.

“A changed heart is just as miraculous and just as much an answer to prayer as the miracle being prayed for.”

My heart was convicted, surrendered, and changed, after I read the chapter titled, “Thy will be Done.” I put off reading the chapter titled “Praying for Healing because I am physically disabled. But, when I finally read it, God healed my broken heart. I also found great comfort in the thought that my tears are prayers, especially when I have no words. This book gave me hope and encouraged me to preserve in the spiritual discipline of praying the scripture.

Jenn Soehnlin’s new book takes praying God’s Word to a new level. Her conversational writing style and real-life applications make the reader feel that he is sitting across a coffee table in conversation with Jenn instead of reading a book. From the first chapter Jenn gives biblical foundations and impactful examples of Scriptural prayer. She uses quotes and strategies from well-known theologians and Christian authors to weave together a framework that helps any Christian go deeper in their understanding of prayer and the power of using God’s Word as we pray. I definitely expect this book to become well-worn and tattered over the years because I plan to use it so much!

This is more than just another book on prayer. It is practical using the backdrop of the author's own story of having non-verbal children and the growth of hearing them speak. The book is conversational and would be an easy one to use in a small group. Because you see life lived as you learn more how to pray with your trust issues.

The bonus is the list of scriptures Jenn gives you at the end of each chapter. Those lists are worth the price of the book alone.

On the Same Page with God
Aligning our hearts with the heart of God
As Jenn explains in the introduction to this book, “Learning to pray Scripture is a beautiful journey of growing deeper in your prayer life, aligning your heart with the heart of God, and knowing that you are fighting for the things that matter to you and to God with both of the spiritual weapons we have been provided – prayer and His Word- combined together.”
It combines story telling with instruction and practical suggestions, along with specific Scriptures for areas that we often finding ourselves praying. It is encouraging, challenging and so necessary if we want to see growth and understanding in our prayer lives.
I was impacted especially by Chapter 6 on Prayers of Confession and Salvation and the section titled, Embracing How Salvation Transforms Our Identity. I was struggling with imposter syndrome in my work life and had chosen to ignore the voice in my head that said I had value. I came across this chapter and was reminded that I am so much more than any success or in this case lack of success I may have in business, but my worth and my identity is found in how my Heavenly Father thinks about me. He calls me Beloved, Chosen, and Friend and it is all in His Word. She reminds us that He loves to hear us repeat these back to Him, affirming His thoughts about us.
When we pray using Scripture, it becomes very personal and very practical and Jenn does a very thorough job of showing us how to do this, even giving us the verses to use as we start or continue this journey.
I highly recommend this book for the novice and for the knowledgeable. It will take your prayer life to the next level and put you on the same page with God.

A Transformative Guide to Praying with Scripture

On the Same Page with God by Jenn Soehnlin is a heartfelt and practical book that helped reshape my approach to prayer. As someone who has struggled at times with knowing what to say in prayer—especially in difficult situations—I found this book to be both inspiring and deeply encouraging.

What stood out to me the most was how Soehnlin emphasizes the power of praying Scripture. She doesn’t just tell you to do it—she shows you how. Each chapter focuses on different areas of life where prayer is essential, from family and personal struggles to spiritual growth. I appreciated the way she included specific Bible verses for each topic, along with sample prayers that helped me see how to incorporate God’s Word into my own conversations with Him.Another aspect I loved was her personal stories. She shares moments from her own life, especially about praying for her children and husband, which made the book feel relatable and authentic. It’s clear that she has walked this journey herself, and her insights come from experience rather than theory.

The book also challenged me to be more intentional about aligning my prayers with God’s will. Sometimes I find myself praying based on my emotions or desires without stepping back to consider what God’s Word actually says. This book reminded me that Scripture is a gift, providing guidance and wisdom for every situation.Overall, this is not just a book you read once and put away—it’s a resource to return to again and again. If you’ve ever felt stuck in your prayer life or unsure how to pray for specific needs, I highly recommend On the Same Page with God. It will encourage you, equip you, and help you draw closer to God in a meaningful way.

On the Same Page with God stands out on bookshelves filled with books about prayer. Author Jenn Soehnlin is refreshingly vulnerable as she shares her discoveries about praying scripture, but at the same time, she speaks with authority as someone who has experienced Holy-Spirit-wrought changes in her life and the lives of her loved ones. Moms will appreciate her poignant stories of how praying scripture for her children helped her get "on the same page with God," aligning her will with their loving heavenly Father. Wives will relate to her journey as she learned to pray scripture for her husband.

On the Same Page with God has prayers to show readers how to adapt scripture for prayer. The reader also learns how to pray using the experiences of Bible heroes as life lessons. We're reminded how to put on our spiritual armor with prayer. The author also delves into different methods of interacting with biblical texts such as lectio divina, listening to scripture, and journaling. There are chapters on different types of prayer and situations requiring prayer, as well as discussion questions for book groups or Bible studies.

There's so much more to explore in this wonderful book. Whether you're a novice or a veteran of praying scripture, as you savor the author's personal anecdotes and quotes from noted Christian writers, you will want to implement these practices right away.

On the Same Page with God has transformed the way I pray. Jenn masterfully teaches how simple yet powerful it is to pray using Scripture. Her book includes inspiring stories, practical examples, and carefully chosen scriptures, each organized into thoughtful categories. Two of my favorite chapters are Praying for Words—especially the section on praying blessings for others—and Praying Through the Storm. On the Same Page is a book I continually reach for during my quiet time with God. It’s one you’ll want to keep close and refer to often. I’ve even felt empowered to incorporate anointing my home with oil, fasting, and adding variety to my prayer life. I’m excited to share this book with others, knowing it has the potential to inspire and change lives.

She describes the types of prayer and takes the reader through various topics that we can be praying through. She ends each chapter with scripture prayers pertaining to the chapter topic. This book is a great book on prayer for all individuals, but I especially connected with the book because I also have a child with a disability. The book has many encouragements as well as prayers from the Scripture for many different topics and situations. She shows how to use Scripture in prayer. The first time through I read through fairly quickly to get the whole overview. My next read will be slower and take more time to read through each Scripture. This is a book that you can keep coming back to over and over and seasons and life changes--God and Scripture remain the same.

Jenn does a fabulous job teaching and illustrating how to pray using scripture. With transparency and vulnerability, she invites you into the struggles and triumphs of her parenting journey and her walk as a woman of faith. I resonated powerfully with the chapter on praying thy will be done in my current season of life. Jenn says, "In prayer we wrestle our will onto the same page with God's will, giving greater weight to God's Word than to our feelings, desires, and circumstances." I need to practice this prayer of surrender. This book is infused with Biblical narratives and powerful scripture examples to get you started, and this book would be great for a small group study.
