If he wants to maintain his stake in the family fortune, he’ll have to do the one thing he swore he never Fall in love.
Ruthless businessman Hudson Sinclair didn’t get where he is on name alone, which means he has little time or patience for love. Sex? Sure. Lifetime commitment? Hell no. That is…until he receives a cryptic letter from his deceased father about a precious Sinclair jewel—a diamond ring Hudson needs to secure his place in the Sinclair empire.
There’s only one problem. In order to win the jewel, he has to find a bride.
Scarlett Colton walked in to drop off paperwork, unaware that the girl she was covering for had been hired for one to pretend to be Hudson Sinclair’s new PA…and girlfriend. But Scarlett’s brother is in financial trouble, so she leans into the subterfuge, pretending to be the flighty airhead heiress who hadn’t shown up for work.
Keeping up the lie for four weeks seems doable…until real desire rises between them, and Hudson admits there’s more riding on their fake relationship than he initially disclosed. Soon, Scarlett realizes Hudson Sinclair is a powerful man who could destroy her life…and her brother’s, too, if he finds out the truth.
But some secrets carry heavy consequences, and Scarlett is about to pay the price.

Come finirà?
Hudson, Magnus, Ryder e Kingston.
This was a fun introduction to Ms Baker’s writing. I loved Scarlett and her way of talking. She’s incredibly funny I love all the random cultural references she brings up. Hudson was an interesting man with lots of integrity. I don’t feel like he had as much of a personality as Scarlett but he was good to read about. Together, they are a great pairing with fantastic chemistry.
The premise of the story is a little far-fetched - it’s definitely a suspend-reality-and-don’t-think-about-how-this-would-really-work thing.
My main issue with this book is there are a few inconsistencies that a good editor would have picked up.
________________________________________ Kategorisierung 📚 Romance-Sub-Genre: Contemporary 👥 Altersgruppe der Hauptfiguren: Adult ➿ Plot-Trope: Boss-employee, Fake relationship, Millionaire, Secret identity, Strong female main character, Sworn off a relationship, Transactional relationship 🌎 Setting-Trope: Office, Upper Class ⚤ Geschlechterkonstellation: Hetero 💞 Beziehungsstruktur: Monogam 🔪 Spannung: Medium 🧠 Psychologische Tiefe: Oberflächlich 🧐 Glaubwürdigkeit: Unglaubwürdig ❤️ Sympathiefaktor der Hauptfiguren: Sympathisch 😆 Humor: Teils teils 👫 Klassisches Rollenmodell: Ja 💋 Anzahl Spicy Szenen: 4 🔗 Spielart Spicy Szenen: Vanilla 🔥 Explizitheit Spicy Szenen: Detailliert 🎨 Originalität der Erzählweise: Teils teils 👀 Erzählperspektive: Wechselnde Ich-Erzähler:innen
Absolute Leseempfehlung. ❤️❤️❤️

If I could spell the word HOT it would have to be this book and the HUNK Hudson. Dark Inheritance is a FANTASTIC, STEAMY ride into the life of Hudson who refuses to fall in love that is until Scarlett shows up. I thought this romantic read held lots of suspense, secrets and uncontrollable desires that can either turn out really bad or really good. Great book in The Sinclair Brothers series. Bring me the next book. :)
Honestly I read this book with high hopes maybe very high that I am feeling too disappointed... The story failed to deliver everything... Hudson's character at first was introduced as very intelligent straightforward and everything but at the end it just got worst..the love confession the family heirloom everything went down and even Scarlett character was poorly framed... Honestly I can't even right about it... So would just end by saying not worth the hype..

This storyline is intriguing. Certainly similar to others I've read, but it is still very individual and thoroughly enjoyable. From the beginning, you know things are going to get out of hand, but the relationships have a genuine feel, and the ending has just the right level of angst. I laughed, I cringed, Icried.
The entire relationship between Scarlett and Hudson was based on a lie and I just couldn’t get past that. Even when they became intimately involved, she was still deceiving him. Grammatical errors and senseless, confusing conversations only proved to make this book worse.
What a good read I didn’t think it would work but I knew love would prevail as it always does. I had so many questions how Hudson could have all that money and not check the “register” it was just a matter of time before love won him over too!
I loved this book. Hudson and Scarlett are perfect for each other even though she isn't who he thinks that she is. This beginning of the series successfully sets the stage for the tests for the other brothers
This was an emotional rollercoaster and at points I could feel the goosebumps. It was a good story. A few notes: - it had lots of mistakes - it was slightly too long for what it was - the MMC was lacking depth
