I thought this book was a great book for little kids and young readers. It is a simple/ easy read. It's about a dog and a hamster who has been eating his food and leaving a mess. When poky who is the dog found out that there was a hamster living there he thought he would help him out. Poky's owner put out mouse traps to ketch him but poky helped the hamster out and triggered the trap so the hamster could eat it. They became really good friends. One night poky's parents closed their door and he couldn't get to the hamster that night but in the morning he was in a hamster cage being fed hamster food so everything turned out really good.

The author kept all the words simple so it would be a great book for kids. Teaching kids to help out their friends and take care of people who need it. Also, the illustrator used a lot of good colors so it wasn't too boring. He also made a path on a few pages where they traveled and as a young reader, they would probably follow it keeping them entertained. I think this book is a great easy read for children.

Really cute book about a dog who befriends a mouse and then protects him from the humans they live with. I love the relationship between the two animals. The story emphasized the friendship the two characters had. the illustrations wee simple yet bright and appealing.
