The Price of Talent #0.7
Destroyer
On an alternate earth, a cataclysm has altered a subset of the population. Talents are persecuted for their psychic and physical mutations, giving rise to two conflicting societies based upon maintaining genetic purity. And the Source, a shadowy corporate entity dependent upon the exploitation of captive Talents, is hunting them…
Three years before the events in Breaker, Flynn Scot is restless.
Stationed with a mercenary unit in the Deep South on a suicide mission, the urge to return North is eating at him. Coming up against the Source as it tries to subjugate another portion of the globe is par for the course, but this time something’s different.
And it’s not just the ill-timed arrival of a survey crew from Glynfyls.
Saddled with babysitting the handful of Talents, Flynn discovers they’ve been sent down—and set up—to instigate a war between the Northern Territories and the Corporation. He finds himself being drawn into the North’s politics, and drawn out of anonymity. Then, when the operation goes sideways, he’s forced to make a choice: turn a blind-eye to the fallout, or come to terms with the fact that destiny isn’t done with him.

I liked getting to see how bad ass Flynn is! We got to see it a little bit in Breaker but it definitely was on full display here! We get a little cameo from someone from Breaker!! I was so surprised to see them! I mean it was super small but it was super exciting to me. Then the dreams!! Omg the dreams! I loved seeing how he was having almost prophetic dreams about his future. It was also pretty cool seeing a different area of this world. We have seen the winter cold and a more northern area and in this book we see a more southern area with a completely different climate. Overall though it was so cool getting to see Flynn being himself prior to how we meet him in Breaker. Even then his past was catching up to him. This book is also more brutal than what we've read in the other books. I would definitely recommend this for an insight into Flynn! Of course no spice in this one but it's a novella on him and his past. Can't wait for Binder!! I'd give this a 4 out of 5!!

Destroyer is a prequel to Breaker. It's a brief moment in time where we meet Flynn after he's left the lavish life he left behind in the north and before he meets the woman who will change the course of his life in Breaker.
This version of Flynn is working with a group of mercenaries, he's not aloof, the loner that we first meet in Breaker. However, the world he thought he left behind has tracked him down in the jungle and they know just how to manipulate him and use him to their advantage.
This was an interesting look at Flynn before he was such a grouchy loaner. While it does answer every question to Flynn’s background it's a nuce snapshot to who he was. A solid 4.5 read.

Destroyer is Flynns backstory after he left his life in the Far North. You get to see who he is, while he's also battling himself. This takes place 3 years before Breaker, and is another short 100 page Novella. It starts right in the middle of war, and ends with him heading North.
Over all solid backstory. Some funny one liners, lots of action, and quiet a bit of inner monolog within himself. You get a better picture of what Flynn is, but it doesn't outright say it.
Also, I don't like Celeste. How dare she do what she did.

Flynn Scott is in one helluva tight spot. Torn between The Source and the Northern Territories, he must make a choice. His choice will have ramifications far reaching, only he has no idea it will lead him in the crosshairs. Destroyer is the story of Flynn Scott prior to Breaker (book one in the series). I found this book compelling and very intriguing. Flynn is not the same man as the one we first meet in Breaker. A lot of the answers I had about Flynn’s background are answered in this prequel.
The world-building is astounding with AK Nevermore detailing a world unlike ours. The construct of Talents, The Source, and Northern Territories are described down to the smallest detail. This dystopian world is rigid in its rules, very black and white thinking, yet there are those who rebel. I always enjoy reading from this author because her worlds are well-written and allows me to escape from my own life.
The characters are well-written, especially Flynn. This is the Flynn I was expecting in Breaker, only what happens to him nearly breaks him. It isn’t until Kara comes along to change his life forever that Flynn discovers what fate has in store for him. A hero turned anti-hero you will want to cheer for as you read.
If you love military science fiction in a dystopian world, pick up this free prequel today. I can’t wait until book two to see what happens next. Highly recommend!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review
I read Breaker first and loved it. In this book we get to meet Flynn when he has just left the life he has that is privileged. He has joined up with a group of mercenaries. If you have read Breaker you know how he is. He is a loner. But now so much in this book. It was so good to see the before Breaker version of him. He thought though that he had left the life he had behind. But he is being tracked down in the jungle and is manipulated and used for their cause and advantage. I think my heart broke from him and I totally got why he is a loner in Breaker. You get some answers to the question you have about him in Breaker but you don't get all the answers. I really enjoyed seeing this side of him though.

This is another prequel for The Price of Talent series.
We learn more about Flynn Scot and what his life was like before Breeder and Breaker.
Saddled with babysitting the handful of Talents, Flynn discovers they’ve been sent down—and set up—to instigate a war between the Northern Territories and the Corporation.
I enjoyed this short story and seeing what Flynn was like and why he is the way he is. There is still more to learn about his past and his family so I can't wait to read more of this series.
Thank you to A.K. Nevermore for the ebook to review.

In Destroyer we learn about Flynn's backstory and is another prequal before Breaker. We learn that Flynn left a life of luxury in the North. We learn about what made him who he is becoming and what has influenced his decisions he is making. He is stuck in the middle of a war and is having a difficult time of turning away or getting involved.
I enjoyed this story and loved to get to know more about him.
AK Nevermore is definitely creating a unique world-building in a dystopian world.
Go check out this series.

Three years ago, Kendall's team saved Flynn from Celeste. Now they're on a mission in the Banoi Crater, where everyone covets the iridium mine located there. This quick read includes plenty of action, ending with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.

this was a strong concept for a inbetween story from book one to the next, it felt like the same world and was invested in what was happening. The characters had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed from the other books. AK Nevermore has a strong writing style and can't wait for more.

Destroyer gives you a glimpse of Flynn before he rescues Kara. He was so different it was kind of hard to believe that he was the same person. I still had some difficulties with certain comprehension.
