Great book, especially reading this as a girls high school cross country coach. I love the sections about the importance of the father/daughter relationship, how an attitude of gratitude builds confidence, and encouraging & supporting the dreams of your athletes. Highly recommend to anyone who coaches girls or who has a daughter.

3.5⭐️ My dad bought this for me a few months ago so I thought I’d give it a try. It had really great chapters and the message overall is great but I felt it was a little repetitive.

This book seeks more space for women to grow

I really enjoyed hearing ideas from this author about how we can help women grow and find their potential. Our society has not fostered that well, and now it is faltering in fostering the potential of all people. The ideas presented here are valuable in creating space for women and men to evaluate, set goals and become who they want to be. Without the space in our mind, hearts, and society to do this, or maybe be this, most people fail without having had a chance. And then as a society we find ourselves not progressing and moving forward because of our stagnant hopes, dreams and aspirations. Finding ourselves at a loss, and indeed lost.
Well worth reading and even more worth doing.

This is such a good book to read if you’re raising a daughter. It highlighted key areas parents and teachers need to focus on in order to help girls grow up happy, successful, and feeling loved. It focused a lot on not only teaching girls how to find dreams but also how to cultivate them. I looked back on my own life and saw how the points taught in this book were or weren’t used in my life to help me achieve my goals. Like most self help books it was a little wordy and repetitive but the author has an incredible backstory that gave her a lot of credibility. I think every mom and dad should read this book if you have a daughter!

A solid three stars for a fine, if mostly fluffy book.

Coach Taylor is well-known as an excellent running coach, and I’ve often wanted to learn more about her “secret sauce” as a high-performing coach. This book gets into her mindset a bit (in the parts I most enjoyed, at least) but is mostly a lot of fluff about beliefs and dreams.

There are some good points about mentorship and relationship modeling. I also appreciated her citations when discussing puberty and biological differences between girls and boys.

Mostly, this could’ve been a 500-word article and didn’t need to be a 120-page book. It was fine but just that - fine.

I really loved so much of this book. It makes me want to do and be better for the girls around me. The only part I didn't love was the premise that the most important relationship for a young girl is with her dad. It feels like, again, I'm hearing that a man's role is more important than a woman's. The rest of the book didn't feel that way though and I really loved so many thoughts and ideas.
