Nations all along the Atlantic coast have been devastated by tsunamis, and the tide isn’t receding. While civilians are evacuated, hordes of fish-men and monstrosities advance on the coast.
It’s up to the Summit of Heroes and world militaries to hold the line.
Emmett and his team will fight alongside veteran heroes and pick up the slack for newly conscripted supers. But even his allies and new upgrades might not be enough…
While the rest of the world holds back the tide, enemies are moving against Emmett and Dr. Venture. They’re powerful, ruthless, and they smell blood in the water.
When the battle hits a little too close to home, Emmett will show his enemies just how far he’s willing to go to protect the people he cares about the most.
A new Superhero Progression Fantasy series. This series features a zero-to-hero protagonist, dystopian intrigue, superhero action, occasional swearing and gore, and Ship of Theseus-style power progression.
Samuel Fleming is a Science Fiction and Fantasy author. He grew up in Maryland, spending most of his time swimming and writing. The thing about swimming is that it gives you a lot of time to daydream, so the two hobbies complemented each other well. Idle dray dreams turned into stories, some of which stuck with him for years. These days he swims a little less and writes a lot more. He loves a good story no matter the medium: Books, TV, video games, comics, tabletop RPG’s, or podcasts–most of which he attempts to share with his wife and three kids, and occasionally on his blog.
I truly enjoyed the personal growth of the characters. In addition to their ability progression. There is a lot going on but it still works well together in a cohesive story. I love the occasional criss crossing layers. The story kept me entertained throughout. Can’t wait to start on the next one. Fun and refreshing sci-fi read.
It's been a journey, watching both Emmett grow as a hero, and Mr. Fleming grow as an author. With book 4 of this series, they have both come into their own.
Fleming's ideas have always been good, but he's getting better at crafting compelling narratives and characters.
I'm glad I came along for the ride, and I'm looking forward to where we go next.
Delta is the fourth book in the progression fantasy series about our character Mod and his evolution into becoming a superhero. The entire series is set in an earth-esque universe that has normalized all manner of superheroes with many types of superhero powers. The series dives into understanding many of these types of powers, where they come from and how they are used.
I have enjoyed this series greatly. Mod begins the series without any powers or really, at the beginning, any designs on power. In this fourth episode we see him blossom into a full grown superhero. There is a lot of growth in the first three books with ebbs and flows of the story but this book is a culmination book. It is highly focused on action because that is where our story has taken us. There is still development and growth but it is fit in between the action. The action, as it has been since the start of the series, is well written. The visuals of the action are easy to formulate in our imagination.
I love the band of characters that have grown through the series. Mod’s team of heroes are great, each in their own way. McGuire might be my favourite, his power and how he uses it are great but he’s also utterly charming.
If you’re into superhero fantasy, you should give this series a try.
