The Last Cabin brings all the excitement of its predecessors as we experience CJ’s next entanglement with a killer. Even on vacation she seems to be a magnet for trouble and the wide assortment of characters at the lodge provides plenty of suspects. Fast paced action and unforeseen twists make it a must read.

Did you ever read a book and find yourself hurrying through the last few chapters cause you just got to know what’s going to happen? Well, this book is like that.

Book four starts off with Uncle Harry chasing down someone called The Butcher during his days on the force. Who is this mysterious man? Is he still alive and hunting? So right off the bat, you’re drawn into the story.

The Last Cabin incorporates characters found in Under a Blood Moon. Grannie makes an appearance along with a dire observation through one of her visions. Will CJ heed the warning? Does she believe in the sight? Will her logical side override her superstitions and gut feelings? Not giving any spoilers away – read the book and find out!

Finally, we see CJ and Ben become a couple. To celebrate their love, off to Alaska they go! Once they reach their remote lodge, they try to keep low profile and not admit that they’re law enforcement. The dream of rest, fishing, and alone time is shattered once the storm of the century rolls in. And then a body is discovered. Now CJ and Ben do what they do best – investigate. Too bad not everyone at the cabin is cooperating. Is it the Butcher? A new threat? Lot of tense moments on this so-called vacation. Plus, it seems everyone at the Lodge has something to hide but as we all know, secrets never stay hidden. The story just grows and grows through each chapter. CJ and Ben do their best to keep everyone safe, but some don’t want to listen. It’s a fast-paced whodunit in true CJ O’Hara style. Another 10-star rating!

This is the 4th book in the CJ O’Hara series and I hope the author keeps the series going. Fast-paced and atmospheric, this is a nail-biting whodunit. You will get chills, whether from the Alaskan setting or the spine-tingling suspense, that remains to be determined.

So happy to read another book about my favorite character, Detective CJ O’Hara! CJ and her fiancé, Ben are excited for a romantic vacation at a fishing lodge in Alaska. But it doesn’t stay peaceful for long. A young woman is murdered and a raging storm comes in. With no way to communicate with the outside world, CJ and Ben try to figure out who the murderer is and keep everyone safe.

This was an action packed, edge of your seat thriller! Every page had action and stress!! I loved it, this entire series is amazing and I love following CJ’s story.

Thank you John Deal for the generous gift of The Last Cabin audiobook!

I listened to the first 3 books in the series last month and couldn’t wait to listen to The Last Cabin when it became available. CJ O’Hara is ready for a relaxing vacation with her fiancé in Alaska. This goes from the perfect getaway to locked “room” thriller in no time. There’s no way to leave the remote location during a dangerous storm, but there’s a murderer among them.

I enjoyed continuing to follow CJ’s journey and see her story unfold.

What can I say? I simply cannot get enough of this series! John Deal has an incredible talent for crafting strong female characters, and CJ is a shining example. She's not only strong and resilient but also highly intelligent.

In "The Last Cabin," John takes his storytelling to new heights. When Detective CJ O’Hara and her fiancé, Investigator Ben Parrish, decide to take a vacation to a fishing retreat in Alaska, sometimes work just follows.

I adore the dynamic between CJ and Ben, and their expectations for a relaxing vacation made me chuckle.

The combination of murder, and being stranded due to a violent storm that hit had me fearing for the characters as they were trapped with no way out, which only intensified the already gripping storyline.

John Deal is a remarkable author who truly knows how to weave a captivating story. His vivid descriptions transport me straight to picturesque Alaska. It's as if I'm right there, experiencing the beauty and adventure firsthand.

This book is a thrilling ride from start to finish! I'm eagerly hoping for more books in this series and can’t wait to see what CJ and Ben face next.

The Last Cabin is my favorite book in CJ O’Hara Crime Thriller series. CJ and her fiancé Ben go to remote fishing retreat in Alaska on romance vacation to end up in a storm that takes out the power and all communication to the outside world. The storm is here to stay for several days. On top of all that there a murder female guest found in the lake. As CJ and Ben start to investigate the murder when they realize the owners of the retreat, several staff and guests have secrets. A second female is found murder. As the plot thickens there more unanswered questions that add to the mystery to who did it and why. John Deal keeps you guessing until the last few chapters.

Another heart pounding thriller from John Deal! The characters you've fallen in love with from his previous books, CJ O'Hara and Ben Parrish, are headed to Alaska for a much needed vacation. The setting is an isolated island with no cell service and a severe storm headed their way. Adding to the tension, there is a murderer in their midst. What a roller-coaster ride, guessing who is the perpetrator! This is a real page turner, but don't turn the pages too fast or you'll miss out on the incredible descriptive writing by the author. There are twists and turns and a surprise at the end. I highly recommend this exciting thriller and the other three books in the CJ O'Hara crime series.

The rave reviews on this are quite suspicious. Don’t fall for them. This is nothing special. The plot is shit, but it’s decently written. 2.8 stars or something along those lines
