Imprisoned on false charges, I find myself facing years in the worldship’s brig. But when the Darrvasons, a race of powerful aliens, demand a sample of human women to examine, I’m offered up as a patient. In exchange for my cooperation, I’ll be released from the brig, the false charges dropped.
An alien named Zahhn examines me, and it's the most embarrassing yet thrilling two hours of my life. I think I’ll never see him again… but when I’m later implicated in a traitorous plot and returned to the brig, my only escape is to become a Darrvason’s bride.
To my utter shock, I’m assigned to the arrogant Dr. Zahhn.
USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR SUE LYNDON writes naughty, heartfelt romance filled with sexy discipline, breathless surrender, and scorching hot passion. Hard alpha males, strict husbands, fierce alien warriors, and stern daddy-doms make her go weak in the knees. She’s a #1 Amazon bestseller in multiple categories, including Sci-Fi Romance, Historical Romance, BDSM Erotica, and Fantasy Romance. She also writes vanilla sci-fi romance under the name Sue Mercury—but no matter the genre or pen name, her books always have a swoon-worthy happily ever after.
You know, consistent CNC just isn’t for me. Who would’ve guessed? Oh wait, that’s right. Me.
MMC that didn’t want his FMC to have free will or rights, stiff writing style, and underdeveloped plot. Woohoo. It’s a no from me.
For alien men that don’t have any women, they sure do manage to treat the ones they eventually get like property. Or dogs. The “obedience training” scene comes to mind.
There was not enough affection in this to offset the MMC’s crazy demeaning behavior towards the FMC. I just started to feel uncomfortable and angry. Also, the writing was weird. “Nether orfice” and “appendages” were frequent flyers in this book. This also needs some serious editing. The doctor scenes in the beginning weren’t believable, the medical terms were used incorrectly (saying she was prone when she was actually supine), and overall just lots of small things that took me right out of the scene.
Girls don’t want a boyfriend, they want a 7 foot alien that yearns so deeply for them they accidentally astral project into their bedroom.

This is book 4 in the Worldship Brides universe where humans have entered an alliance with the Darravason alien race. In exchange for the aliens technology to save the human ships, the Darravason’s require breedable human females to help rebuild their population following a catastrophic war that wiped out virtually all of their own species females.
The fun thing about this universe is that all the stories are happening over the same general time period, but you get to see the different perspectives of the major events throughout the various couples stories. There’s a large part of my brain that genuinely wants to combine the 4 stories and arrange them in chronological order.. In this fourth book we are following Leona and Zahhn, two characters who assumed they were omitted from the alliance terms as a result of their age (Leona) & infertility following a rare illness (Zahhn).
After Leona finds herself wrongfully detained, she is presented with a get-out-of-jail-free card in the form of being one of the human females examined by a Darravason doctor to confirm the two species sexual compatibility.
Meanwhile, Zahhn is a well respected doctor on the Darravason warship who has dedicated his life to his career & disease cure research. His priorities are swiftly challenged, however when he feels a magnetic attraction to his newest patient, a feisty human female delivered in shackles.
🪐💦✨
Leona & Zahhn’s story was a nice change of pace from the previous couples (note that Jenny & Brute are still #1 in my heart) as neither characters were expecting to have a life long mate. Although it doesn’t quite fit the “I chose you not the bond” bill, their relationship does feel a bit more genuine at times compared to some of the others who’s first and foremost thoughts is mates & breeding.
If you’ve read the previous books in this series, or any of Sue Lyndon’s other stories, you know what you’re getting into. But this is considered a dark romance so definitely recommend double checking those content warnings🫶🏻.
Considering they start as a Doctor/Patient scenario, anticipate some serious Hippocratic Oath & major ethics violations, but it’s all in the name of science, or love, or something like that.

The last remaining humans are doomed. Their Worldship is failing, they’re running out of water, food, and air. If the ship isn’t repaired soon, they’re going to perish.
The Darrvasons have come to save the day—but with strings attached. With their superior technology, they’ll fix the Worldship and find a planet where the humans can settle permanently—if the humans hand over 2,000 women to be mated with their men. The Darrvasons’ own planet was destroyed, their women killed, and they’re facing extinction.
But before the deal is struck, the aliens want to ensure their species are biologically compatible. The Worldship must present five women to undergo a “medical examination,” to verify compatibility. Leona, who was caught out after curfew and ended up in the brig, is sent to be one of the test subjects. Her exam, performed by Dr. Zahhn, is kinky and hot.
The first part of this book reads more like erotica than romance, with sex scene after sex scene, but then the story starts, and Zahhn’s Mate, has a good, solid plot. This book runs true to form to a Sue Lyndon sci-fi romance with huge (in every way), dominant alien men, submissive human females, a power exchange relationship, and lots of kinky sex.
Zahhn’s Mate is fourth in the Worldship Brides series, but it can definitely be read as a standalone.
This was NOT the vibe for me. I tried to like this series but this book broke me.
Zahhn gives me the creeps. He's literally a doctor and half the book is him lusting after and taking advantage of Leona "for science". Ugh. Also, this WHOLE time she doesn't really consent - she does so because if she doesn't comply she has to go back to prison basically. Also, she's not had her most recent hormone blocking shot so she's experiencing arousal for the first time and doesn't get what's happening.
Lastly, the punishment and discipline thing was gross to me. He treats her like an object and punishes and beats her at will but ~it's ok~ because she's actually into that. BARF.
Zahhn’s Mate is a thrilling installment in the Worldship Brides series that combines the intensity of dark sci-fi with the intrigue of alien romance. The story revolves around Zahhn, an enigmatic alien warrior with a tormented past, and his destined mate, who is unexpectedly thrust into his world. The novel excels in world-building, immersing readers in a dystopian, futuristic universe where powerful alien factions and complex politics drive the narrative forward. The author expertly balances action-packed scenes with moments of emotional vulnerability, particularly between Zahhn and his mate, whose relationship evolves from a tense, reluctant partnership to a passionate, soul-deep connection. The chemistry between the protagonists is palpable, and their interactions are marked by a compelling blend of power dynamics and vulnerability, making for a satisfying and intense romance.
However, while the romance is steamy and engaging, some aspects of the plot can feel predictable to readers familiar with the genre. The story’s pacing is relatively fast, with the tension between the couple heightening quickly, which can sometimes leave certain emotional arcs feeling rushed. Additionally, Zahhn’s character—while well-developed as a tortured hero—sometimes leans too heavily on familiar tropes, which might be a drawback for readers seeking a more innovative approach. Despite these minor shortcomings, Zahhn's Mate is a captivating read for fans of dark alien romance. The action and suspense will keep readers hooked, and the emotional payoff between the characters makes it an enjoyable read for those looking for a thrilling and passionate romance within a fantastical setting.
Captivating, action filled Darrvason aliens in search of Heart Mates as they search for a new world The interactions between the Darrvason and their humans that were discovered searching through space on their aged ship which was badly in need of repair so that the humans could continue to search for a new home world. When the Darrvason’s had come across the humans they had negotiated with the commander Warren that a number of human females between the age of 19 and 25 years would be given to the aliens as mates, they had lost all of their females and young during a war and had also been forced to search space for a new home world. Doctor Zahhn had been drawn to a female by the name of Leona and had realised that there was a special connection between them but not exactly sure what, it is soon obvious that the connection is growing and he now seems to have actually projected himself into several locations where Leona has been being held. The humans are still continuing to have uprising on the ship and Leona is aware that in the illegal speakeasy she runs this sometimes allows the Savors to meet and she has turned a blind eye as she chooses to completely disregards the goings on. This is a story filled with intrigue, action and adventure and I assure readers that once you begin reading it is impossible to stop until you reach the end and discover the outcome of Leona and Zahhn along with all the other humans and Darrvasons in their search for a new homew orld. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

This is more of a general review for the entire series so far.
NOTE: If controlling MMCs and somewhat iffy consent isn’t your jam, you might not like this series. But I will say, compared to other iffy consent books out there, this series does it well without falling into blatant SA territory. Still, the author clearly states a warning for any sensitive readers, so proceed at your own risk.
The writing is solid. Good pacing. Characters are concrete with a nice flow of internal & external conflicts that move along with the story. Though the FMCs can give in a little too soon physically for my tastes, it fits the world and circumstances they’re in. Not once did I get over annoyed with our main girls, which is surprising because I usually like my FMCs as little spitfires. It just goes to show that the world/characters were done well!
Also, the spice was excellent. If you like dominant men in the bedroom? Read on up!
I recommend this series, for sure. But I am getting a little bored reading about the same events from different couples POVs each book. I want to see couples further in the future - not much! Maybe a few weeks/months down the road while they’re still traveling to the habitable planet or even once they’re on the habitable planet. I’m sure this is where this series is going anyway, but I hope it happens sooner rather than later. New circumstances would really spice things up again!
“Zahhn’s Mate: A Dark Sci-Fi Alien Romance” is the fourth book in Sue Lyndon’s ‘Worldship Brides’ series. I have read ALL the books in this series and they are all amazing reads! I refuse to pick my favorite story! What else can I say? These books are gems that draws the reader into a beautifully told, well written story of love and life and the characters have depth. The story keeps you interested until the last page. It has humor, suspense, fast paced, romance, and true awakenings for the main characters. We have met Leona previously, she runs an illegal little bar on the Worldship Jonsonna. She is having dreams of a purple eyed male nightly and finds herself drawn to viewing the Darrvason fleet, mainly after curfew. She is caught being out after curfew and framed for carrying an illegal substance and thrown in the brig. Enter,Dr. Zahhn who has been sent to the Worldship to examine a group of human female prisoners for their compatibility with his species. What he didn’t expect was an immediate pull to Leona. And, the story takes off from there! Sue Lyndon is a very talented author and continues to dazzle us with these stories. The characters are well developed, realizing that one can grow and gain understanding of the gift of love and all that it brings. The story is a page turner from the first page! ————————————
For those of you familiar with this series, this book starts at the very beginning when Zahhn and Leona meet and then fast forwards a little. Zahhn is a renowned Darrvasonian doctor. He is well known for his many breakthroughs that helped his people. The Emperor wants him to choose a mate from the human females they are getting as a reward for his service. He refuses because he knows he is infertile due to a childhood illness. The breeding age females need to go to a male that can produce offspring. He’s good with that, until he meets Leona!
Leona is a 35 year old female aboard The Jansonna, the worldship that houses the last of humanity. They are almost out of food and water and the ship is falling apart when they are rescued by the Darrvasonians. In exchange for repairing the ship and giving them aid as well as agreeing to search for a habitable planet, they want breeding age females to save their species from extinction. Leona figures she is safe because she is too old.
These two are immediately drawn to each other but both are fighting it. But when the rebels attack the ship Zahhn is on, Leona is forced to admit her feelings. Great book!.

If you have been reading the series, you know Leona. She ran a little bar for all those on the Jansonna. She always just wanted to bring comfort. She was aware of what they were saying about her father being a rebel. We are continuing with her story. She was caught by CPT Warren and is now become part of the barter the Darrvason have made with them. Zahhn is a doctor that is on the ship to examine the human females. He does not see himself worthy to receive a mate but there is something about Leona. Ok, this story was really interesting. This is all happening at the same time as all the other stories unfolding. But we learn Zahhn is more then what he thinks. He has a gift that he never knew about and let me tell you, that was so cool. Leona felt a pull to him from the start even before she met him. And the fact that it took the doctor a bit to realize that she was drawing on him heartbond was surprising. You would have thought the doctor would have caught on faster. But no worries. Leona’s father however is a big issue. Chief Kameer is chief engineer on the Rorrsa. I hope that he gets a mate. I am glad that things worked out for these two and we are headed to a new world for all.

Leona (h), a human woman living on the worldship Jansonna, which houses the last of humankind and allies with the Darrvasons, who seek women in exchange for their aid. She is brought up on corrupt charges and thrown into the brig where she finds herself selected by Zahhn (H), a Darrvason doctor, for an intimate, sensual examination that reveals more than just scientific curiosity. As the Jansonna's systems falter and the threat of extinction looms, Leona and Zahhn's find that they share a strong bond that allows Zahhn to astral project and visit her undetected to share heated encounters with one another. Amidst political tension, rebel plots, and a mercenary attack, Zahhn fights to protect Leona, leading to a deepening relationship marked by desire, conflict, and a growing heartbond. Their relationship is marked by intense sexual and emotional interactions, with special eggplants, power exchange, spankings, and more, as Zahhn asserts his dominance and Leona navigates her fear and desire for him. Ultra-hot and steamy dark, erotic, alien, fated mates romance, exploring different cultures, fears, prejudices, intrigue, politics, and the search for a habitable planet for humanity.
Zahhn’s Mate, book four in the Worldship Brides series delivers another exciting read. The worldship Jansonna carrying the last of humankind and on the cusp of running out of resources was discovered by the alien Darrvason fleet who brokered an agreement for human females and their assistance in return. Leona who is having dreams of a purple eyed male nightly always finds herself drawn to viewing the Darrvason fleet and one vessel, the Haxxal in particular. When she is caught being out after curfew doing just that she is framed for carrying an illegal substance and thrown in the brig, it looks like her life is over. Dr. Zahhn has been sent to the Worldship to examine a group of human females for their compatibility with his species. What he didn’t expect was an immediate pull to Leona, and nobody else touches her but him. Can anyone say mate bond! This is a good series by author Sue Lyndon who hit her stride after book one and has continued to provide well written, spicy good individual couple’s stories of passion, intrigue, political machinations, and adventure in space.

“The emperor can attempt to meddle in my life all he wants, but I will never accept a mate.”
Leona lives her life right at the edge of the law, but she’s never crossed in to rebel territory personally. She’s about to discover that where she’s from, the law doesn’t always differentiate between those who are active participants, and those who enabled them.
Zahnn is an alien doctor focused on the future of his people as a whole, not concerned about finding personal happiness or starting a family — until he meets a human woman he can’t stop thinking about.
This done in one book doesn’t seem to do a lot to move the overarching story forward, on the surface, but there are a few discoveries made by Zahnn that could make important changes for the lives of both species… so it may be too soon to say how pivotal this story is in the series.
What I particularly enjoyed about this story was Leona taking a second look at her actions and choices, as she examined when she could have spoken up, who she could have spoken up to — and what might have come of it. Life under a corrupt power structure is never easy… add in a few personal betrayals and Leona has a hard few months.
I really enjoyed some of the previous books in this series, but this one didn’t do it for me. I enjoyed the first half or so, but then it really dragged for me as I realized they weren’t going to be together physically for a long time (ended up being months). All of the action that happened in this book was events that already happened in other books, so there was no real suspense or surprise there.
And then, most frustratingly, there simply wasn’t romance. Or at the very least, a chance for the two characters to genuinely interact and connect. Since they were apart for literally 90% of the book, they never developed a relationship. The entire thing between them is because of the bond. And I hated how he didn’t trust her when she was arrested, but at the same time, what reason did he have to trust her when they didn’t actually know each other? The obedience and punishment also got old, since I desperately wanted for them to connect out of love and affection, not dubcon every single time.
I found Sue Lyndon's books a while ago and now they are an automatic read. I just love the way that she is able to pull together the world building without feeling like it is being crammed in, characters that have charm, personality and are often relatable along with a good story line. This is a darker romance which I know does not appeal to everyone Leona just wants to bring a little warmth in people's lives however she is framed and sent to the Brig. The only way out is to be sent to the Darrvason to be tested for compatibility. There she meets the doctor who is to examine her, Zahhn and finds he feels familiar. Zahhn doesn't realise that what he is feeling for Leona is the mate bond. Often those who should know never do when it comes to themselves. He does finally recognise it though and embraces it. The story of these two is set along side others although you could read it as a standalone. I would recommend the rest as it is a good series.
"I yearn for her to belong to me, yet it isn't possible. I'm destined to be alone."
Since I've read and enjoyed the prior books in this series I was delighted when I discovered the heroine of this new book is Leona, the owner of the Speakeasy where Jenny hung out and sang at in Brute's Mate.
The book started strong and I loved that it was different from the others with an older couple neither of who thought love was even a possibility. There was a ton of steam and some surprising twists. I actually got annoyed with Zahnn a few times as he was so quick to assume the worst of Leona. Since the story overlapped the prior books, there is some overlap but that's OK. There was plenty of new stuff, too.
The only thing holding this book back from a perfect score was the anticlimactic end, that felt rushed and lacking in the emotion found in the rest of the book. Otherwise it's great and a wonderful addition to what I hope is a continuing series.
Leona is a female survivor on a slowly failing human worldship. Doctor Zahhn is a scientist from an alien ship searching for females to breed. Although he is sterile, he has been asked to help examine the small group of women who will soon be escorted to his ship. Leona is not quite the appropriate age for breeding purposes, but for some reason, Zahhn is attracted to her, as she is to him.
Although it is not possible, Zahhn surprisingly feels her as his mate. During their interaction, Leona experiences desire, sexual excitement, plus a surprising need to submit and obey his orders. Their interactions are filled with power exchanges, erotic heat, fated mates, caring, fears, intrigue, and a strong emotional connection.
I thoroughly enjoyed this alien/human book that was filled by need, caring and compromise.
Sue Lyndon’s Zahhn’s Mate is super spicy! Leona is just trying to survive on board the ancient human transport that is breaking down, threatening to kill all that’s left of humanity. Her dad’s a rebel, and if she’s not careful, she’ll be blamed for what he’s involved in. Enter the Darrvasons, aliens whose women and children died via a pandemic from another species. They want mates in return for fixing the decrepit human ship. Leona keeps seeing purple eyes and dreams of boarding one of the alien ships. Then she is chosen to be one of five women to be examined for compatibility even though, at 35, she’s not in the guidelines. Thus begins her introduction to Zahhn, the medical director who is mesmerized by her. Wow is all I can say!.

Leona has no problem getting into trouble. She is in the brig when the Darrvason science team comes to exam human females to evaluate sexual compatibility of human females with Darrvason males. Leona and her cell mates are chosen for the examinations. Zahhn is a Darrvason scientist and physician, and is a member of the group. He chooses Leona as his patient. It is clear to Zahhn and Leona that there is a connection. Zahhn has reason to believe he should not take a mate, but resisting is most difficult. With her continuing troubles, his uncertainty, treachery and corruption on the worldship, attacks on the fleet, it won’t be easy together. This is another dynamic story in this series. The characters are strong and resilient; the romance is sizzling, and the heartbond eagerly awaited. I received an ARC of this book via BookSprout and voluntarily reviewed it.
The Doctor And His Mate In this series the human world is reduced to living on a big spaceship that is about to perspire. The found the Darrvasons are willing to help in change of receiving human women. But on the spaceship a rebellion against the leading families is going on and Leona’s father is involved. And unwillingly she is dragged along. Her father finds out that she is having some sort of relationship with a Darrvason male and it makes matters even worse. A big part of the story is about the developing feelings between Leona and Zahhn and their sexual relationship. As usual in Ms Lyndon’s books, this relationship with BDSM tendencies is vividly portrayed. With warmth and love.

Meant To Be. Another story in the Worldship Brides series focusing on Dr. Zahhn and Leona brought many old and new details to light. Hearing their POV about events and concurrent situations was very enlightening. With a telepathic connection, we got to hear so much more of their shared interactions than may have occurred otherwise. Zahhn certainly is a dominant male….so driven to pursue a heart bond with Leona. I enjoyed watching so many of the story details fall into place for this couple and for all remaining survivors on all of the ships.

I really enjoy Sue Lyndon/Sue Mercury books. As I said in my review of RADAKK'S MATE, I really like that the stories in this series coincide and that we get to see different aspects of the same series of events. I read for the story and sort of skim over the explicit parts (which there are many in this story - so if that is what you are looking for this story has plenty of it). I never saw the twist coming and really enjoyed. It opens up the this universe to even more intrigue and engrossing stories. I love that the Emperor cares for this people. I am really looking forward to how this series is going to go - especially if the author takes it all the way to the shared planet.
It's been a long time since I read a book from this series, and it all came back to me when I started reading it. I realized that the stories are simultaneous or happen at the same time. The MC's story is standalone but interconnected.
I enjoyed the story. It's a marvel to watch our MMC trying to control his desires for the FMC, his mate; the operative word is "trying." 😂. He failed majestically, but he was ecstatic about it. There were a few twists in the story that helped him claim his mate, and all ended well.

I would love to live in this author's imagination, it is so fertile. This is Zahhn and Leona's story. It fully describes the examination of the suitability of human females as mates for the Darrvasons. There are plenty of different elements including some hot erotic sexy scenes and spankings. I loved all the well done characters. I received an advanced reader copy of this book and am leaving an honest review. I hope that this series will continue through the landing. This is an edge of your seat page-turner.
Is this an emotional, gripping love story filled with angst or intrigue? No, it isn’t. Is it a spicy, fun, light read, with a sexy, dominant alien doctor, that you indulge in like a forbidden treat? Yes, it absolutely is! 😂 I’m not a huge fan of alien romance, but something about this series has appealed to me. It makes for a great “palate-cleanser“ for me, and this book release came at the perfect time because I was in a book rut. I loved Zain and Leona’s story and I look forward to the next installment in this series.
Zahhn is a well known Darrvasonian doctor. He cares about his people. He not able to father children, when given a choice of human women to take as a mate he'd rather someone else has the chance. That is until he meets Leona. Both fight their attraction to one another until the ship is attacked. Facing the danger, they make their true feelings known. This is action and drama packed book with heartbond mates, spice, and HEA.

DNF- 17% honestly I’m surprised I didn’t get into this one. I can’t lie I’ve been a sucker for all the previous books in this series, along with the author herself. So I went into this with high expectations, but for some reason I just wasn’t vibing with it. I might’ve picked it up at a bad time, or this is just a book that isn’t for me. But that’s not going to damper my love for this author’s future work. The other books of this series were all a 10/10 for me. I loved them all. I’m sure if there’s more books to come from this series I’ll read them and love them. Just not this one 💙
I love that Zan'n and Leona are both older and that their romance is a surprise and a fantasy that might not come to pass. It makes Leona, Dr. Zahm's dirty little secret, even though he starts to feel that that isn't what he wants from her. Leona, knows that she doesn't meet the criteria for the program, so she's convinced that there's no future for them. Or is there? There's action and intrigue as well as hot and steamy romance, that makes for an entertaining read!.

This is book four in the World Ship Brides series. Each book features a different couple. This time around it’s between two people who do not want mates or romantic responsibilities. Luckily there is already a plan in place. Doctor Zahhn is a dedicated member of the ship and has been a medical miracle. Leona is on the ship with the last of us humans. Leona runs a bar for a diverse crowd. The human leader is selfish and self serving. There is a lot going on besides the connection between Doctor Zahhn and Leona. Read On!
