All of Jackson Phillips’ dreams are coming true. His band is finally getting the recognition it deserves, he’s spending the summer with his best friend, and he can’t get enough of his gorgeous girlfriend.
But everything is about to change when American Thieves goes on tour.
Margot Reid may be excited about her classes and her new job at a local magazine, but she dreads Jackson leaving. She’s gotten used to waking up to him in her bed, and now he’ll be in a new city every night, surrounded by adoring fans.
With equally hectic schedules and the growing distance between them, Jackson and Margot navigate juggling their aspirations while still holding onto the one thing that makes them happier than anything else, each other.
As they learn to balance following their dreams and true love, the two are faced with an undeniable question. If forced to make a choice, would they choose each other?
I Just Want To Be Yours is the steamy sequel to Just Don’t Call Me Yours, an enemies to lovers college romance with a rockstar twist.
I absolutely adored the first book, but this one sadly ruined Margot and Jackson for me. The lack of commitment and communication were killing me. It just kept getting dragged out longer than it needed to be. There were also many things that bothered me, like Margot's lack of boundaries with Braden, Rae and her suggestions about Braden, Braden's inability to read the fucking room, just Braden in general, and Jackson's lack of communication and awareness around other people. And to think all Margot and Jackson had to do was find the guts to exchange the words "I love you" to make everything better again. By the end, I was just so emotionally exhausted that I couldn't care less about Margot and Jackson's relationship. In all honesty, I think I just hated the fact that it wasn't the cute and somewhat happy sequel I had anticipated it to be. I'm just going to pretend this book doesn't exist now.
I don’t think I’ve noticed how much I missed reading about Margot and Jackson’ love story until I got this book “in my hands”. This is the second book and last one of the duet and it follows their relationship and how they navigate through obstacles in their lives.
I really like this characters and it’s refreshing to read a college romance. The setting in this book felt very real because we see them navigate through a long distance relationship and their feelings for each other and all the obstacles appearing in the way.
I liked this book more than the first one, because besides feeling like it was more real because we can see the struggles of their relationship, I think all the development of the book made sense and it had the appropriate number of pages for a contemporary romance.
Also, there was a chapter where two or three tears fell down because I felt the struggle and how real what happened could happen in real life.
The communication was better than the first book but we still see some miscommunication about their feelings but there was a moment that changed that completely.
It was a very sweet, easy read and a good book to finish this duet 🥹
Thank you to Heather Garvin for an opportunity to receive this book as an ARC and in return to give my honest rating and review 🫶🏻
No you don’t understand I need this to be more than a duet 😭. I’m just selfish and want more of Jackson and Margot 😂I am absolutely hooked on them, I devoured the book in one sitting. There romance, heartbreak (literally teared up while reading), and personal growth. The book hooked me from the first sentences, it’s easy to fall into the rockstar world of Jackson and the regular day life of Margot. Heathers writing truly makes you feel all the emotions the characters are feeling. And I’m just saying if you, Heather, want to make a 3rd book I wouldn’t be mad 😂😭.
Loved getting to see the continuation of Margot and Jackson’s story! I said this in my review of the first book, but I love how the author keeps the chapters short and the POV shifts almost every time. It keeps me locked in and constantly wanting to know what is going to happen next. I tend to prefer standalone books but I really enjoyed this duet as a whole.
I think I enjoyed the first book a little more than this one only because the first had the build up of them starting to like each other while this one they’re already together. There has to be some sort of conflict for the book which always makes me nervous when they’re already together. I admittedly was nervous for any other “love interest” drama and while there was a little bit, I appreciate show things played out. If it had gone any further than it did I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much.
This book allowed Margot and Jackson to continue to grow in their relationship. And I didn’t realize it from the first book but they hadn’t said I love you to each other, so that plays a major part of the story here. There were so many moments I wanted to shake them both and be like just say it already!! You love each other!! But they needed the time to fully build the trust. It was a bit rough with them being long distance for the majority of the book. I love when characters are together proximity wise for majority of a book, but given Jackson is on his way to being a rockstar that’s how it is. I’m so glad they have their official happy ending.
Can’t wait to continue to read more by the author!

**Mild Spoilers Below**
It's so fun to be back with Jackson and Margot and to see Jackson on the verge of his wildest dreams come true. We pick up very close to where we left off from book one, and I highly recommend starting there if you haven't read it already, as Jackson is gearing up to head out on tour.
Margot is staying behind to focus on school and her new magazine job to hone her journalism skills. What ensues is the highs and lows of being long-distance when a relationship is still new and undeveloped.
I wanted to hold Margot's hand throughout the book as she struggled with her trust and what she could see in media updates. I equally wanted to shake Jackson for not being upfront at times, even if it's brutal honesty that would make both of them uncomfortable.
This story felt honest in how you fully release judgments and concerns when your person is thousands of miles away.
The third act conflict was necessary to shake Jackson out of his head and realize he needed more action than words to keep their relationship going. And the final solution, while maybe not popular, was the most realistic considering where the characters are in their life.
Overall, I had a blast finishing Margot & Jackson's story and am incredibly grateful we got a sequel to begin with!
Fans of rockstar romances and spice will love this duology.
Lots of mixed feelings, lots of mixed feelings. It was amazing meeting these two again after so much time apart, and it was so healthy seeing them going through so many obstacles while being far from each other. But then, I don’t think I really needed to have a full length book about this you know?! I don’t really know how to go about this. They’re perfect and was amazing seeing them overcome so much, but then again… I don’t know, just did not tickle all my feathers I guess.
I received an ARC of I Just Want To Be Yours in exchange for an honest review.
After getting to ARC read book one- Just Don’t Call Me Yours and absolutely falling in love with these characters, I was so thrilled to read book two, and it did not disappoint.
Your favorite college journalist/rockstar couple are back for book two and navigating life while Margot is balancing her classes and internship and Jackson is back on tour. With long distance already straining their relationship and a few new players coming into play, things are more difficult than they thought.
This book was so, so good with all the fun of a ‘rockstar romance’ while maintaining a realism that I much appreciate. The characters and their emotions are so real and relatable and LOVABLE. Garvin has a way of making you want to root for every character even when it may be a contradiction.
Overall, I Just Want To Be Yours was a wonderful sequel, and I cannot recommend this series and author enough.
#Review: *I just want to be yours* - ARC - Heather Garvin [18+] 5/5✨ 3/5🌶️
A couple of months ago I've discovered a new author to me: Heather Garvin. I fell in love with the first book of this series *Just don't call me yours* and I was sooo excited for this sequel!! Thank you so, so much Heather for accepting me to receive and e-ARC!💙
This review is for the ones who read the first book because the story continues with our protagonists and their lives, after Jackson seriously started with his music career. He is part of American Thieves band and they embark on tour. But Jackson's half, Margot, was left behind and now they need to tackle the long distance relationship. Are they going to trust each other and will their relationship survive without seeing each other for months?
The way the author writes is just the perfect style for me. Every subject was so wonderful exposed: the insecurities, the worries and the love that Jackson and Margot have for each other. They are two young people who are finding out how to be in a relationship, in the first place, and then to figure out how to do it without seeing each other for a long while. Margot was having a rough time being apart from Jackson and her job didn't help her either, because all the pressure was affecting her and struggled a lot not to fall apart. I understood her insecurities and it was kinda funny how she was always overthinking stuff.
I just loooved the connection between Jackson and Margot. They just had that magical thing together and they won me over again in this book. I wasn't sure if it would be as amazing as the first one, but it definitely exceeded my expectations and I adored this part too. Of course that the secondary characters played their essential part in this book too and I liked the gang so much!
I truly recommend this amazing 'Just Yours' series, if you love a enemies to lovers trope, present in the first book, and rockstar and on the road tropes for this second one. The main focus of both books is the wonderful bond between Margot and Jackson, which was really genuine in my opinion.
The heartache in this one really had me. My body was in physical pain and my tears were almost a constant in the corner of my eyes. It also had me blushing and kicking my feet. This book really gave me everything and I didn’t want to put it down.
They are both so hopelessly lost in each other to the point it seems they’re both scared to fully open up to one another. In case the other one doesn’t feel the same - which leads to miscommunication and frustration. But the love they have for each other is so strong and undeniable. I absolutely adore these two!
Thank you so much for the arc Heather Garvin, I am so grateful you let me have an early peek into the love of Margot and Jackson 🤍
🎵 “There’s nothing like waking up and going to bed with your favorite person”
🎵 “The way Jackson looks at me is one of my favorite things about him. He looks at me like I’m the only thing he sees.”
🎵 “I’m going to miss the way his hair always looks a little messy in the best way. I’m going to miss the spark of mischief behind those storm-like eyes. I’m going to miss the way his tongue darts out to wet his bottom lip before he kisses me. I’m going to miss the way he makes me laugh, and blush, and feel so incredibly happy.”
🎵 “Now that he’s gone, there’s a disconnect. The titles we never had to rely on while we were together are one of the few things connecting us while we’re apart.”
🎵 “I’m still yours, Margot. Completely and totally yours.”
🎵 “fears aren’t meant to make sense. Fears are meant to make you suffer.”
🎵 “I’m completely at her disposal, mind, body, and soul, and I hope she takes everything I’ve got and never lets go.”
🎵 ““I love you.” It feels as natural as breathing. It feels like the most mundane yet liberating thing I could possibly say to her. Loving her is so ingrained in me at this point, saying it feels like coming home. It feels like finally letting out the breath I’ve been holding, and no grand gesture could ever beat this feeling.”
🎵 “Everyone here is happy just because I’m happy, and I think this is what family is supposed to feel like.”
I Just Want To Be Yours by Heather Garvin... There will be spoilers for the first book in this review... is the the second book in in a duet and picks up right after the tour ends that American Theives went on at the end of the first book. Jackson and Margot finally get to spend time together, a whole summer together. Their relationship blossoms. But with Jackson being in an up and coming band, another tour starts. This story is all about being in and the struggles of a long distance relationship... especially since Jackson is a rockstar and the stigmas that come with dating a rockstar. I know the biggest question on everyone's mind is, is the band gonna stop by one of the islands with dinosaurs on it, like Isla Nublar or Sorna, cause dinosaurs love rock music as much as hunting people, unfortunately we all get disappointed with the lack of rock bands playing a concert for dinosaurs. Heather, you gotta give the dinosaurs a shot!
I absolutely love the story of Jackson and Margot. I'm only sad that their story is over. They're super cute and sexy. Lots of spice in this one. I did love that they had struggles in their relationship with him being on tour and stigmas of the rockstar life style. Relationships are definitely hard even if there isn't any distance involved. I just loved it and this time the involvement of no dinosaurs didn't affect the score of this book. I give it five out of five guitars. Heather Garvin wrote a better sequel than the first book! This book releases on September 20th! I'm so happy I got to read this early! My review is an honest review cause I need more dinosaurs dang it!!!
In the follow up to Just Don't Call Me Yours, Margot and Jackson find that long distance dating while Jackson is on the road with his band isn't as easy as anyone thinks.
Loved this one! Here's what I loved:
Margot and Jackson: These two stole my heart in book one and just continued to make me happy in this one. Jackson in particular is such an amazing book boyfriend. He's so devoted and I believe everyone he was dishing out.
Life on the road: I love rockstar romances that have some on tour aspects and this one does just that. You get to see up close and personal what it's life for Jackson to be away from home and traveling all the time.
The romance and spice: I loved seeing these two come together and try to keep it. My heart broke a few times for them. The spice is also really well done!
I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review. After reading the first book in the series “Just Don’t Call Me Yours”, I was so excited to have Margot and Jackson back for the sequel. After spending an amazing summer together, the American Thieves hit the road for a tour leaving Jackson and Margot navigating life long distance. This book brings all the feels. A perfect mix of love and heartache. And that spice level. When I say Heather Garvin brings the spice I mean it 🌶️. This is a series I see myself coming back to for another read when I’m in a book rut.
Jackson and Margot 1 was great, Jackson and Margot 2 was gut wrenching in the most beautiful way!! Heather portrays a long distance relationship so realistic and well! The struggles of trust, love, and everything in between 💕
A few of my favorite parts: The song lyrics🫠 The RV moments with the band The flowers 😭 Every single thing that came out of Jackson’s mouth was a quotable moment
Thank you to Heather Garvin for an advanced copy of this book!
Everything about this book is just perfect! Revisiting one of my favorite book couples ever and seeing their relationship grow made this book a 5 star read for me. Seeing Margot and Jackson face the insecurities of a normal relationship made this story come off the pages. I am so excited for the release of this book so that others are able to experience this story!
First of all 🌶️🔥The perfect ending to Margot and Jackson 💛 I felt all of the feelings both characters experienced throughout the book!!! Heather Garvin did an incredible job bringing the characters to life in a way that was relatable and fun and had me swooning. Every girls rockstar romance brought to life
Missed M&J and the band mates banter, but had quite the love hate relationship with the miscommunication between them this time around. Also, I thought Mya was going to be a problem character, but I absolutely loved her. Braden on the other hand? Ehhhhh. So sad that the story is over, but it was definitely worth the wait and it’s perfect for a weekend read if you’re looking for one.
4.5 ⭐️ What a great way to finish this duet. I left this book loving Margot and Jackson more. The character growth for these two *chefs kiss* I guess it’s time for me to find a rockstar now 🎸
Heather Garvin's books are amazing, I just wanted a bit more with this book, being the second book in the series. I was expecting more to happen in between him touring and the break up. But it was a great, quick read.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I devoured the first book, but this one I almost didn’t need. I had my own vision for the future of Jackson and Margot. A lot more rockstar love than the first with the typical banter and spice of Heather’s books.
Dating a rockstar? Could never be me. Team Braden :)
HEATHER DOES IT AGAIN! I simply looooooove this book. It is just as phenomenal as the first one ! The love between Jackson and Margot is just so sweet and it is refreshing to read a college romance where it isn’t rushed. The personal and emotional growth they have individual and together are just amazing!
I am so sad that it is over 😭. Thank you for letting me read this!
This is a really cute love story between Jackson and Margot and I loved getting to see the end of their story.
Possible spoilers ahead.
That being said, I also felt like it was missing something. A depth to their relationship. When they were together it seemed primarily physical (nothing wrong with that of course) but that was it. I also didn't like the hints towards possible cheating for both of them even if none of it eventuated. Maybe it's just being older than the main characters and being unable to relate to that life stage anymore. I did still enjoy the story though and would recommend to the right people.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Heather!
I didn’t think I could love Jackson and Margot more than I did after JDCMY. This continuation of their story was wonderful, I know that I’m not the only person who would read at least one more Jackson and Margot book.
If you haven’t read “Just Don’t Call Me Yours” put it as up next in your TBR so you’ll be ready on release day for the follow up!!
As part of Heather Garvin’s ARC team, I’m due a review in exchange for reading this book.
I have to start by saying that I knew this duet wasn’t going to be my cup of tea. At first, I didn’t attempt to apply to ARC this book, the preview of the first book didn’t call me. But the preview of this one did, somehow. And for whatever miracle, Heather trusted me and gave me the opportunity to read both of them.
I’m sure I said enough about my intake of music tropes in the previous review (https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...), so I’ll set that apart. There were a few things I didn’t like. The miscommunication through the long-distance relationship (I’m currently in one of those and the setbacks, which could have been easily overridden with proper and healthy communication, left a more bitter-than-sweet aftertaste through a big part of the book). Instead of feeling the story, and hence enjoying it, I was able to grasp the author’s intention from the other side of the page—which is a first in all my time reading; I wasn’t fond of the decisions and the way things were being shown, but I understood every detail was serving its purpose. I was getting easily frustrated, but I was aware and conscious that the book (the duet) wasn’t simply to my liking. I just wanted to finish it to close a chapter. And I did.
One of the things that helped me overcome my dislike was Jackson. I will always be swayed by masculine characters showing their feelings. Being vulnerable. Having a grasp of their perspective. Maybe because I have experienced all my life the feminine side. I’m in love with a man who can show they’re in love, and when it comes to books, it’s just too enjoyable when I can see them falling first. When I can see them falling harder. It really doesn’t matter, they’re just falling, and I’m here for it.
Due to my being in a long-distance relationship at the moment, it was easy to sympathize with some of both their feelings. It’s harsh. There are a lot of sacrifices. The disagreements are bigger just because of the distance. But it’s also so worth it. Especially after it stops being long-distance.
It may have been slightly hard for me to fan over this story, but not because of it I’m not going to recommend it. Music tropes. Boy bands. A particular perspective of long-distance relationships. Writing songs about her. Being his love and muse. Sacrificing things for love. Drama. If any of those is of your liking, you may want to take a look at these pages. I might have an opinion, but that’s mine; go for yours.
Heather Garvin wrote the perfect duet (pun intended) about these two driven college kids that have even bigger dreams. Heather beautifully displays the complexities of being in your late teens/early twenties while trying to figure out your life, dreams, relationships, distance, etc. Jackson & Margot are two halves of the same whole, and it is absolutely captivating to read about their adventures in book #2. I wish Heather would write about them forever! I’d never stop reading.
Tropes: ⁃ MMC Famous Musician ⁃ Idiots in Love (I’m bringing it back) ⁃ Found Family ⁃ He Falls Harder ⁃ Texts on Page
If you do not want to read a scathing review with spoilers, I suggest you scroll on by <3
And here I thought that the first one could not get worst but by some God Given curse it did. It was just simply unnecessary.
The whole plot is them being scared to say "I love you" and not knowing how to trust each other. Which is so stupid because neither one of them had given the other a reason to not trust. Also they are acting like long distance is so hard as if most young adults their age aren't doing that in college. And hey maybe it would be easier to do long distance if you actually fucking talked to each other and not send the driest text messages known to man.
Then there's the whole Branden situation. What an asshole. Listen I get it, he had a crush on Margot, but stop pulling moves on her when you KNOW she has a boyfriend who he's met. And Margot's constant conflict of ohh I don't how to act around him and oo he's hot and has muscles. Okay maybe don't oogle him when you're with someone else. And hey have a boundary conversation of this is making me feel weird. Oh I forgot...every character in this god forsaken book can't communicate or have an effective adult conversation.
Jackson surprisingly didn't piss me off that much, which is shocking considering I hated him in book 1. Now I am just as annoyed with Margot in this book as I am in with book 1 Jackson. I can not tell you the fit of rage I felt at her reaction to seeing the bands tagged photos where that Groupie put her hand down Jacksons pants and up his shirt. Which mind you was NOT consensual. He literally said can you stop and this random girl goes "are you sure?". And Margot acts like he cheated on her and doesn't believe him. Margot was just looking for him to mess up and make a mistake. And she's mad at him for not saying I love you even though this is his first serious relationship and she herself said to her friend Rae Oh I'm not gonna be the one to say it first. Which is so juvenile.
That was this whole book, just juvenile and stupid and unnecessary. The first one I was duped into reading by an instagram book rec post for Taylor Swift fans. And then I kept reading because it takes place at USF which is hilariously random to me as someone who went there. When I saw there would be a sequel I could not fathom why. It was wrapped up fairly well in the first one. My friends convinced me to read this sequel to see what other Tampa/USF related things would be mentioned and to my dismay not much. Instead I got 384 pages of BS. I can't imagine what actual fans of the first book who were rooting for Margot and Jackson felt like reading this one.
