How else am I supposed to explain the super-hot blue-haired man in a flamingo-printed swimsuit who appeared beside me while I was scuba diving? He could be a merman, but that doesn’t make me sound sane.
Or I might need to reexamine what sanity means and prepare for my life to turn upside down.
LOUISA MASTERS started reading romance much earlier than her mother thought she should. While other teenagers were sneaking out of the house, Louisa was sneaking romance novels in and working out how to read them without being discovered. She’s spent most of her life feeling sorry for people who don’t read, convinced that books are the solution to every problem. As an adult, she feeds her addiction in every spare second, only occasionally tearing herself away to do things like answer the phone and pay bills. She spent years trying to build a “sensible” career, working in bookstores, recruitment, resource management, administration, and as a travel agent, before finally conceding defeat and devoting herself to the world of romance novels. Louisa has a long list of places first discovered in books that she wants to visit, and every so often she overcomes her loathing of jet lag and takes a trip that charges her imagination. She lives in Melbourne, Australia, where she whines about the weather for most of the year while secretly admitting she’ll probably never move.
Aqua is the himbo of the Element group but he's also an absolute sweetheart who things water is the best thing ever and when the ocean tells him about a guy in trouble, he can't help but get involved.
Unfortunately, for poor River, he's not expecting a guy without a dive suit or oxygen 60ft underwater so to say he's surprised would be a little bit of an understatement.
He's even more shocked when he discovers the reason Aqua spoke to him was because his equipment was faulty and, as a research marine biologist investigating the possibility of pollution affecting creatures miles away from its source, his life's in danger.
This was another super cute entry in this new series of interlinked novellas from Louisa. They're all following a similar basic trope - that of finding a fated mate - but have used different narratives to get there so far.
There's the usual humour you'd expect alongside the plotting and it's working well.
#ARC received from the author via The Author Agency, I am voluntarily leaving a review
✎ 𝙰𝚀𝚄𝙰 is the second book in the 𝙴𝙻𝙴𝙼𝙴𝙽𝚃𝙰𝙻 𝙼𝙴𝙽 𝚂𝙴𝚁𝙸𝙴𝚂 and I loved every bit of it,it was funny, the characters were cute and since it's an interconnected series the progression of the plot through each book was done brilliantly.
✎ 𝙰𝚀𝚄𝙰 might just be of my favorite himbo to ever himbo, and he's so freaking cute and clueless yet so kind.He loves being in the water and when he's not in the water he's high😂.He was in the water exploring one day, when the water told him,he needs to go help because someone is about to drown.
✎ 𝚁𝙸𝚅𝙴𝚁 is a marine biologist diving in the ocean researching how epidemics in migrating marine species can affect kelp and other aquatic flora, his Oxygen tank started leaking without his knowledge and that's when 𝙰𝚚𝚞𝚊 appeared and warned him about it.But since he was panicking,he didn't pay enough attention to realize that the person who warned him about to leak had no oxygen tank and it looks like he could breath under water and instead of him swimming,he just carried him around. So 𝚁𝚒𝚟𝚎𝚛 thought the whole thing was an hallucination.
✎ 𝙰𝚚𝚞𝚊 and 𝚁𝚒𝚟𝚎𝚛 have my heart, they are so f**king cute together and I like the way 𝚁𝚒𝚟𝚎𝚛 thinks everything 𝙰𝚚𝚞𝚊 does his cute. And I love how protective 𝙰𝚚𝚞𝚊 is when it comes to 𝚁𝚒𝚟𝚎𝚛.I love that they both love the Ocean and that’s how they first met and that’s what brought them together.
✎ I love the whole found family,we look out for each other dynamic in this series and since found family is a weakness of my when it comes to book tropes, this series is going to be an amazing experience for me.
I like it better. There's more development between River and Aqua than between Aether and Perry. Plus we get enough time for actual subplots for the story aside from the overarching one. The romance still goes from 0 to 100 way too fast for my liking though
Mini-blurb: Aqua controls water and he loves being in it at all time. One day when he is in the ocean, he notices a man that is diving and about to drown, the ocean calls to him to save the man. The man is River, a marine biologist and they bound over their love of all things water and fall in love.
I loved Aqua so much. He was such a airhead, in the best of ways. The setting for this book was so funny. I found myself laughing outloud so many times while reading this one. I loved the match of calm and logical River and go with the flow aqua, they had such good chemistry.
Also I adored learning more about water and how to help prevent disasters related to water.
This book was such a good mix of learning, fun times and good chemistry between the couple.
🤭Opposite Attracts 🤭Found Family 🤭Strangers to lovers 🤭Water Element x Marine Biologist 🤭Himbo X Academic
This is the second book in the ELEMENTAL MEN MM Novella Series. This book is about the element water, who is also Aqua. Aqua is the human embodiment of the four natural elements ‘water’ in this book. He is the one in charge of all the bodies of water on earth. In a nutshell, Aqua is water and water is Aqua.
Okay, wow.
I loved every minute of this. I didn’t expect this to be as funny as Aether, but first chapter into this and I was already wheezing so hard. I couldn’t stop laughing. Aqua was so cute and innocent and hilarious.🤣
River is a marine biologist who almost died while diving in the ocean but was saved by Aqua after the ocean told him to save River and that was how they met.
Aside from how funny this was, and the way it had me laughing nonstop. I love how interconnected each book is. Aqua picked up just after Aether’s book ended and it honestly didn’t feel like I missed anything. Just felt like turning over another page in a book and read seamlessly.
Love the chemistry between River and Aqua and just how immediately smitten Aqua was with River. And don’t get me started on how River thinks everything Aqua does is cute.🤭😹
Also, I cannot help but commend the brilliance behind this series as a whole. Even though I am yet to read the remaining novellas in the series, I know I am going to love each. But I absolutely love and respect the Louisa for the brilliance behind the novella. Despite it being hilarious, it touches on a serious subject that affects our planet and Mother Nature trying to do its best to save the environment and human race. And that brings us to the five elements incarnated in human bodies as they come together to save humans and earth. Along their quests, each of them gets a mate who will somehow help in their quest to save Earth.
This is honestly so brilliant and I loved every second of it.
I received a complimentary ARC copy of this book and this is my honest review.🥰
**4.5** I am really loving this series so far! Aqua continues the series and has quite a himbo vibe according to River, who he rescues when swimming the ocean and decides to bring home to make sure here safe, and get checked out by his brothers. I love Aqua's character. He never seems to be fully there with you, often thinking about water if he's not in contact with it in some way, but he's fully engaged when it comes to River. River does surprisingly well with certain reveals, though it takes a while to believe that it's not the result of the near drowning that Aqua rescued him from. However, it soon becomes not his main concern as drama is uncovered and it's not about his new group of friends. It's so great getting to know the group better and find out more about what they do. I'm very interested in seeing how the whole story arc plays out considering what is at stake for everyone. A highly recommended series of novellas! I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
This book touches upon the topic of Climate change brought upon by Human on Earth 🌍 and how Mother Nature is running it's course by having natural disasters and calamities.
To prevent those natural disasters and calamities from destroying humanity, the five elements are born or incarnated. This book is about Aqua which is the Water Element!
He is water. He is in control of all water bodies on Earth. He can speak to aquatic life, breathe underwater and also control water 🌊
He is mated to River who is a marine biologist who is researching about aquatic epidemics and how they affect the ecosystem on land.
Due to this research, his life was threatened but he was saved by Aqua and that's how they meet and their romance begins!
They are literally fated to be together and it's beautiful. This story is quick, interesting and very eye opening!
I was lucky to receive the ARC of this book so thanks Louisa, I truly grateful and this books was worth it!!
When I first heard about this series, my immediate thought that this was going to be a spicy take on Captain Planet. I was wrong about the Captain Planet (though I did enjoy the reference in book 4) but right about the spicy. These are adorable, funny, smexy reads that I would recommend bingeing back to back because they become addictive. Each book has a different couple but has an overarching theme of conservation and whether humanity can be saved. You'll have to read to the end to find out.
The only downside to this series is that I wish the novellas were longer because I really enjoyed the premise.
I received an eARC and because its freaking cold despite being almost halfway through October (really not enjoying climate change) I have left an honest review
This is a cute addition to Elemental Men. Aqua is an adorable himbo who goes with the flow and saves River from drowning. River is a marine biologist with a very analytical mind who is rescued by the hottest ‘hallucination’ he’s ever seen.
This one has a little mystery thrown into it and I liked it! I’m excited to move on to Flame and his firefighter!
Relationship dynamic: MM Available on Kindle Unlimited POV: 1st Dual
Tropes: 💜 Soulmates 💚 Himbo / Scientist
“Oh my god,” Perry mutters. “Why? Why can’t I just have a normal life?” We ignore him. He does this sometimes—Perry’s always been dramatic, in all his lives. It makes him happy. He’s all drama, and Aether’s all chill. They’re perfect together.
(ESP) Perfecta segunda historia en esta serie. Creo que ya amaba a Aqua y mi amor sólo se vio incrementado al saber más de él. River es tan opuesto en su personalidad que obviamente es el alma gemela que necesitaba. SU persona. Me encantaron juntos. Un libro que me hizo morir de risa aún con cierto toque de misterio y concientizándonos ecológicamente. Me gustó mucho mucho.
(ENG) This is a great follow-up to the series. I already loved Aqua, but my love for him only grew as I learned more about him. River is so different from him, but he's his perfect match! He's his soul mate, his other half. I loved them together. This book made me laugh so much while also raising awareness about environmental issues. I absolutely loved it!
I really enjoyed the storyline of this one a lot more than the first (Aether), but I'm not so sure if it forwarded the overall plot of the story (or I'm just not aware of it yet) which is why I rated it a little lower than Aether.
However, Aqua and River are so cute! Aqua is the cutest Himbo of all himbos and River being a Marine Biologist is perfect for him. Also, the added suspense of someone trying to kill River?? Like, whyyyyyyy.
I'm sure we'll find out soon! Can't wait to see what comes next!
Thank you Louisa and The Author Agency for the ARC.
A diver in danger!?! Aqua, the water element has been incarnated as a human. He rescues the human diver, River, a marine biologist whose research is critical. Enjoy the highly educated River as he struggles to comprehend his attraction to and the true nature of Aqua and Aqua’s elemental bros!
The second in this series, this one is a sort of opposites attract/found family setting. It's a nice story but not as interesting as the previous one. Aqua is a total sweetheart and a touch naive, but we can forgive him that.
Aqua has total golden retriever energy! Perry calls him the resident himbo of the group, but Aqua is a lot smarter than he lets on. He's just not interested in anything if it doesn't involve his precious element, and now River. The person, not the body of water to clarify.
As a scientist, I thought it would take a bit more convincing for River to believe the Elemental guys about who they really are. On the other hand, meeting a man at the bottom of the ocean who doesn't need a tank to breathe would be pretty hard to argue against. Since this is a novella, the relationship moves fairly quickly. And if Aether is to be believed, it's not just Aqua who is going to be finding themselves in a relationship soon!
Aqua is book 2 in the Elemental Men series, and you need to read book 1 since it has a continuing storyline, even if each book focuses on a new couple.
I'm loving this series! It's so much fun. Aqua appears to be a bubbly airhead, but he is smarter than he looks and very sweet. As his name states, he's Water and he both controls it and it "talks" to him. And on one of those talks with the water, it makes Aqua rescue a scuba diver, who turns out to be some kind of companion for Aqua, which never had happened in all the time they've been alive. River is a scientist researching the ocean, and the last thing he expected while diving was to find a blue-haired man in pink flamingo shorts, who seemed able to swim without equipment. He spends a good 30% of the book thinking he had died from his oxygen tank malfunctioning and/or he has a brain tumor, because he couldn't have seen what he saw, could he?
Aqua was adorable and had great chemistry with Aqua. And of course, I loved catching up with Aether, Perry, Flame, Zephyr, and George, who are so much fun!
Together they investigate who tampered with River's equipment and it took a surprising turn.
All in all, a fun continuation to the series and a short, sweet, hot, and delightful read! Very recommendable!
*** Copy provided to Bayou Book Junkie for my reading pleasure, a review wasn't a requirement. ***
premise: 5 really hot men look like humans but have "dyed" hair and strange names like Aether, Aqua, Zephyr, Flame, and ... George. But they are, in fact, the 4 elements (fire, air, water, earth) + life, and they show up on earth when things are out of balance. This series follows all 5 men as they fight to preserve the earth and stop the damage that is being done by humans. Along the way, they all find their human soulmate who balances them out.
Aqua: “Sometimes when I’m not calm, water does things.”
River gets up from his chair and comes over to give me a hug. “Be calm. Please. Because if you’re not calm, I have to be calm—balance, remember? And I really want to be the one having a nervous breakdown right now.”
The rain stops as I wrap my arms around him. “Okay. I’ll be calm so you can be upset.” I can do that for my beautiful River.
River and Aqua were so sweet together, but the dialogue and storyline went a little bonkers in this one. These books are fun and quirky, and I enjoy the concept of elements in human bodies. Aqua was a super duper himbo, and it was cringe at times. But River fell hard and fast for his man. Overall, another enjoyable read while I’m between work projects.
Here is Louisa Master's "Aqua." It's the second book in her Elemental Men series.
["“I might be hallucinating or have a brain tumor.”
How else am I supposed to explain the super-hot blue-haired man in a flamingo-printed swimsuit who appeared beside me while I was scuba diving? He could be a merman, but that doesn’t make me sound sane.
Or I might need to reexamine what sanity means and prepare for my life to turn upside down."]
I love how, in Perry's words, "unique" (and in mine: an utter himbo) Aqua is even after living on Earth again for years. At least Aether had an excuse. Aqua is just...Aqua. Our little water-obsessed, surfer-brained, friends-with-fish-and-turtles mermaid (not-a-mermaid).
So of course he has a HEA with a scientist. Which might mean a HEA for humanity?
These two were adorable as hell. As hard as River fought against what they were telling him, against logic, he caved pretty fast and pretty hard to pretty Aqua and the water/ocean in general. I love that for them.
This is the second novella from the Elemental Men Series. Each novella is a quick, spicy, easy, fun read. Aqua is the physical manifestation of water.
He is a hot, surfer dude with serious golden retriever energy. He kind of just goes with the flow.... you see what I did there🤣
He is out in the ocean just minding his own business when he feels a psychic pull towards a diver in trouble. He must save him.
River is a marine biologist who is just trying to collect some samples for his research when he meets a very strange man who saves him from drowning when he realises his scuba equipment has been sabotaged.
Aqua needs to convince this man he is real and not a hallucination AND he is his soulmate. He needs to do it fast because there is mischief afoot.
Can they it all out before it's too late?
This one was so cute. It feels a bit like piling into The Mystery Machine to solve the case. I can't wait until the next one!!
This is an opposites attract romance, featuring Aqua and River, and is book two in the Elemental Men series. This book is a novella.
Aqua is the element of water and loves being in the ocean and all bodies of water. One day, Aqua saved a man, River, from drowning while scuba diving.
River is a marine biologist, someone who loves the ocean as much as Aqua. He doesn’t know exactly what is happening but he does know someone tampered with this equipment.
This is a continuation of book one but focuses on Aqua and River. I seriously love everything about these too, they really are meant for each other.
The story is getting so good! Im jumping into book three.
Things to expect in this MM romance are: 2nd book in series MM Novella Opposites attract Element x marine biologist Himbo x academic Water is his friend Bit of suspense We are meant to be Found family Teaming up HEA
I luckily received a free copy of this book in a complete collection of all five books from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review. That being said, some of this review may be repeated in parts of my reviews of the other books.
The stories are fairly short but still give you a sense of completeness with a central overarching subplot… kind of. I’m probably not making much sense but if you know Louisa’s writing you’ll more than likely love the books and want to binge read them all. Then you’ll see what I was talking about… or maybe I’m just talking out of my squirrel brain and it only makes sense to me. 🤔 🤷♀️
Loved reading about Aqua and River. Some of the things these “guys” do is just hilarious.
With how short the stories are, I think this will definitely go on my reread list.
Highly recommend the whole series. Definitely best read in order.
Aqua is a sweetheart!!! Aqua is the most happy in the Water he spends most of his time in the ocean and that’s when the water speaks with him and tels him someone is in danger.
River is a marine biologist and is making his research underwater when unexpected he sees a gut without a dive suit underwater he thinks that something isn’t right with him..lol
He and Aqua have so much in common that Aqua is happy he can have River for himself, but first he and his friends have to let him know who they are and what they are doing to save earth. I like how Aqua and River have an instant connection, this is new for them but this could make a huge impact on their mission, this was a fun read and can’t wait to read the next story in this serie!
Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.
Aqua is a sweetheart who loves water very much. The ocean told him about a guy in trouble and he immediately got into action and went to save the poor man.
River is a research marine biologist and the reason that Aqua spoke to him is because of his faulty equipment. But River couldn’t be more shocked to see a man sixty feet underwater without any equipment or dive suit. Aqua takes him to his home to get checked out by his brothers, make sure that he’s okay.
What was revealed to River, he took very well. I loved how Aqua was all in with River, their bond is very special and unique.
Overall I loved this book very much. I highly recommend reading it.
Another cute installment of the elemental men. This time we get to see a little bit into the future after Perry was reunited with Aether. I love those two honestly. Positive and negative. Dark and light. So cute. Just like our Aqua and River (don't even get me started on how cute their names are).
I love that it's building up to a bigger climax. Slowly introducing us to all of the key characters. I enjoy the small stories that give us background. Flame's up next. I'm excited to hear about this fireman you've been friendly with *wink*
I loved this so much. I love the idea of the elements having someone to make them happy after all their years without it. Aether and Perry aren't the only ones who deserve love. Aqua and River are our cute little water babies.
I really enjoy this series! I can see them all ending up on my re-read list. Also, I’d love to buy one paperback with all novellas included once the series is finished. 🤞🏻
The novel gained *stars* for these items:
* gained for: "The book caught my interest in the first five pages."
* gained for: "I thought about the book when I was forced to set it down and re-enter society."
* gained for: "There were no info dumps, poor writing, or copy edit mistakes that jerked me out of the story."
* gained for: "I was sad when the book ended. I wanted more!"
The novel failed to gain stars for this item:
NO STAR gained for: "That's it. I'm hooked on this author. I will automatically try anything she/he/they writes."
MM novella. This is book 2 in the series, and although it covers the couple arc, there is a series arc, so I would suggest reading book 1 first.
Aqua finds a scuba diver, and his connection with water tells him he's in trouble. River is a marine biologist who has no idea of the 'unusual' group of guys he's about to meet when someone decides to stop his research.
Aqua is a himbo, but has an amazing knowledge of the water and loves it more than anything, to the point where he even sits with his hands in bowls of water when he can't be in the ocean.
Another sweet couple fated to be together with the environmental message as the overiding series story.
Great continuation of the series. Aqua is the element water, and it is lovely to see his draw to and interaction with the ocean. When he rescues marine biologist River, our sweet and adorably sexy Aqua is smitten. He never gets to have a mate, so this incarnation is happily different. While River is unsure of his own sanity when he meets the elemental men and Perry, he can't deny the draw he feels toward Aqua. I love these men together. I'm really enjoying this series, and I'm excited to read Flame's romance. I can't wait to learn more about the rest of the elemental men and to see how they try save humanity.
