I hate to say this about one of my favorite series...but color me a bit disappointed. There's nothing wrong with the writing, but I feel that maybe Jaci Burton has run out of ideas. I wasn't at all wowed by the characters. It seemed like they had everything going for them and no real hurdles to climb that made them interesting. Yes, the heroine, supermodel Katrina Koslova had a raw deal as a teenager (17)--her mom got sick and died and her father couldn't deal and skipped out, leaving her to raise her much younger brother and sister alone. But wait--she had the good fortune to become a model at 18, and later a supermodel, providing the financial security her little family would need. (When does this ever happen in real life?) And yes, this early blow in life made Katrina a bit overprotective and determined not to let any man (who would just leave her anyway) into her life. And for that reason, Kat was not much fun. She was all about work and financial security and smothering the fun out of her siblings lives. And then hunky football star quarterback Grant Cassidy comes along (on a shared photo shoot) and shows her what fun is all about.

Katrina...

Grant...

Yes, Grant was a dreamboat. Yes, Grant rocked her world. Yes, Grant was wonderful with her teenage brother and sister. Yes, Grant had the perfect upbringing (his father was a world famous quarterback too)and a boisterous family filled with athletic brothers, a lively younger sister and parents who adored each other. Yes, Grant used to date around, but nothing out of the ordinary for a young star athlete. Yes, Grant had to manipulate Kat into having some fun, but he didn't have to work too hard at it. Yes, Grant never thought about settling down, but after meeting Katrina he gave it some thought. I don't know how to explain it, except to say this was a pleasant enough read, but I wanted a little more angst, or drama (plotwise) or something to make these characters more relatable. Everything seemed just a little too...perfect?

I dunno, maybe I'm getting a little jaded. Or maybe this series has run its course for me. I'm hoping for better things with All Wound Up, even though it's about the same family (Grant's baseball playing brother, Tucker). Maybe a more lively heroine will breathe some life into the series. A lukewarm 3 1/2 stars

Quarterback Draw is a standalone in the Play by Play series. This is my second book I’ve read from this series and I’m slapping myself because I don’t know why it took me so long to read them.

Quarterback Draw is a cute, make-me-happy kind of read that is PERFECT to read in between those serious books.

Grant is a football player, quarterback to be exact. He’s doing a promotional shoot in Barbados and he’s paired with a model. The model is beautiful Katrina.

I know what you are thinking. Model? Seriously? What average book-reader like myself would like reading a model as the Heroine? Well, me. I really like Katrina. She’s down-to-earth, sweet, pretty and the best part, she’s a single mom! (I’ve said it before, I love reading single moms). Her mom died and she has to take care of her two teenage siblings.

I really liked the storyline because Katrina isn’t your typical model. She’s really strong and independent and I loved that her siblings aren’t brats. The kids are completely adorable and really kept my interest in the book.

Grant is fantastic. Who doesn’t like a sexy muscular sports player? He isn’t looking for a relationship, but when he sees Katrina and starts to get to know her, he can’t help but want to be with her all the time. Even though they don’t live in the same state.

Katrina is all about responsibility and setting a good example for her siblings. She doesn’t have time for Grant, but she’s been single for so long, he’s bringing something out of her. Something that she hasn’t felt in a long time. Lust!

The relationship between Katrina and Grant is cute. I love reading Grant trying to pursue Katrina and I love Katrina getting flustered. Don’t even get me started with the steam! It didn’t disappoint.

If you haven’t read any of the book in this series, then I suggest you start with this one. It did not disappoint.

2 stars – Contemporary Romance

I think this series has run out of steam. The covers are still hot and impressive as always, but the characters and stories have become blah and boring. At least I got it free from the library.

I do love me some sports romances but this one fell a little flat to me. I also found that I tended to like the side characters more than the leads which isn't what you want in a romance.

Katrina Koslova is a world famous supermodel caring for her two younger siblings. She's a workaholic who has zero time for love. Well zero time for anything fun actually. When she meets Grant Cassidy on a photoshoot, she's not prepared for the relentlessness that Grant pursues her and soon becomes wrapped up in everything Grant - despite her constant protests.

Ok, so the characters. It was really hard to warm up to Katrina mainly because she just closes herself off to everyone, including herself. Her mind was just so focused on work and the kids, that she didn't even see that she was losing her connection to her own siblings. They needed her to listen to what they wanted and needed, and she disregards them at every turn and then is surprised when they take to Grant so quickly. Well, Grant listened to them and encouraged their dreams.

And speaking of Grant, he was more likable but also just too perfect. Like he always said the right things and did the right things. He had the perfect job, the perfect house, the perfect family. It was just too squeaky clean. While I loved the interactions with his family, I found Grant to be over the top.

And the two of them together? It was weird honestly. Grant was super sweet with the kids and I loved how he made sure to make them feel welcome and included. But Katrina was so, this isn't a relationship and I don't have time for this attitude got annoying real quick. And even when Grant was calling her his girlfriend, her thoughts were always I need to get away from him. She was definitely her own worst enemy.

Overall it was a fun book, but the best parts for me were the parts that included their families. So I don't know what that says about a romance...

Grant Cassidy is a football superstar and Katrina Koslova is a supermodel, who meet while doing a swimsuit photo shoot. Their explosive chemistry is undeniable.
It wasn’t a kiss. It was an almost kiss, and it was damned frustrating. Her lips were right on his, but he couldn’t move in. He wanted to jerk her fully against him and take what she teasingly offered. Their gazes were locked, their bodies entwined, and it was a good thing cold water rushed over him, because he’d never been hotter.

Katrina is not looking for a relationship. She is responsible for her two younger siblings and extremely busy. But Grant is rather determined.
I absolutely loved how Grant includes Katrina’s whole family in their relationship. It gives them all something they have never had.
“By the way, Grant Cassidy will be picking us up at ten tomorrow morning,” Anya said.
“What?”
/-/
“Grant Cassidy’s coming here tomorrow? Cool.” Leo took a sip of his soda.
“I can’t believe you did that,” Katrina said. “I’m going to have to call him and cancel.”
Leo frowned. “Why? Is he a dick?”
“No, he’s not. And don’t say dick.”
“So if he’s not a dick—”
“Anya. Come on,” Katrina said
“Okay. So if you don’t dislike him, then you like him,” Anya said.
“I didn’t say that, either.”
“He had your phone number. And he seemed like a pretty cool guy.”
“Based on what? A five-minute phone conversation?”
“More like three minutes, actually. But he’s taking us out tomorrow. And we’re going. You don’t want to be rude and call him back now and cancel. Then you’d be the dick.”
“Oh. My God. I don’t know what to do with the two of you.”
“There’s nothing wrong with us,” Anya said. “You, on the other hand, are way too tense. You probably need to get laid. Maybe Grant Cassidy can help you with that.”
Leo snickered, then raised his hand up high. Anya high-fived him.

As for the other characters, they were hilarious. I loved the rivalry between Grant and his brothers.
I’m curious to see how the series will develop and I’m looking forward to reading more about Grant’s brothers.

Tom Brady and Giselle Bundchen romanticized in a romance novel ?

I don't know but this story line about the sexy NFL quarterback and the hot supermodel immediately made me think of the the above real life couple. It was ok. The best parts were the scenes that included Grant's family and I adored Katrina teen brother but her sister was way too annoying. Her irritating comments may have been intended by the author to seem cute but they just got on my last f******g nerve. The author needs to note that there is a fine line between bratty cute and bratty annoying. The other stupid thing was the heroine's "loss" of her virginity via dildo. Seriously. That was such a cop out. I know the heroine is 27 years and so the author probably thought it strange for her to not have had sex with a man but to have her use an object ( not a vibrator but a huge dildo ) for her first time was just so cold and weird.

It took me a while before I warmed up to the heroine. I understood her reasons for not wanting to encourage men but Grant was so sweet, polite and kind. She was a bit too bitchy to him in the beginning.
I doubt I'll be reading the other novels in this series or anything by this author...

I think that I'm finally reaching the point of being a little bored with the Play by Play series. Number Nine features a star quarterback and a super model (picture the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit variety) and, even though there was nothing seriously wrong, I just didn't feel much for either of these two characters. It was more a slam bam thank you ma'am type of telling and no depth in the presentation. The story was nothing different -- just changes in names and places. The family touch kept me going because I'm always a sucker for a close-knit large family and giving them a home base on a big old ranch in Texas just seals the deal.

Not a bad read -- just nothing new or refreshing on the Kindle this go-round for a pricey read. I'm sure there will be plenty of readers that will find it a 5-star read, and it is written by Jaci Burton, but it was just an average run-of-the-mill reading experience for me.

Favorite Quote: “Any sparks? On your side, I mean. Grant would have to be dead not to be attracted to you. For goodness sakes, I’m attracted to you and I’m totally heterosexual.”

Grant Cassidy is the star quarterback for the St. Louis Traders. Sexy and single, His winning smile, hot body, and confident attitude on and off the field gets him all the girls and he’s not complaining. Not looking for love, a promotional gig with gorgeous supermodel Katrina Korsova knocks him on his butt. Suddenly he finds himself chasing the elusive model, just wanting to spend some time getting to know her.

Katrina Kosova may seem like a typical model-social butterfly, underneath her eye popping exterior lies a very determined independent woman who has spent the last ten years working hard and taking care of her younger siblings. She doesn’t have time for a social life, especially a man whose only responsibility seem to be getting to the field on time to play.

With their combustible chemistry sparking every time they are near each other, Grant slowly instigates himself into Katrina’s life, showing Katrina that it’s not irresponsible to take some time for herself. Katrina is scared that Grant will take over her life, leaving her with nothing when he leaves but Grant is determined to prove to her that he is serious about her, her siblings, and building a life with her forever.

As always, I first like to pay homage to the delicious cover model that graces this installment. Burton always has the best covers and this one, in my opinion, is one of her better ones. Holy mac & cheese…the hawtness factor is 10 plus. ZOMG

Now on to the review.

Quarterback Draw is adorable. Simply adorable. Very low key on the conflict scale, Burton builds a deliciously sexy, humorous, and soft romance that pits a fun loving family oriented man with a suspicious woman who was forced into adulthood far to early. Following the predictable plotline of this story, we already know what will happen; the appeal of the story is how Burton will get us there. Well written with strong character dynamics and a smooth flowing storyline, I enjoyed meeting the protagonists and their fun, outrageous family members. Delightfully quirky and wonderfully flawed, all have a vein of realism running through them, reacting and engaging the same as we might.

Grant Cassidy is adorable. I know I’m saying this a lot in this review but he really is. Sweet, funny, handsome, intelligent, and just enough alpha to be interesting without being offensive. He seems to have found the perfect balance between work and play, allowing him to start a relationship with nothing prohibiting him from being 100% committed. Though he wasn’t looking for a relationship, he is open to forming one when he meets Katrina. Her beauty catches his interest but her personality and firm professional dedication to work and her family keeps it.

Damn. There was something about her eyes. He liked women just fine, and always had a good time with them. He had a few relationships that had lasted a while and had ended amicably. But not one woman had ever shocked him with the same spark he felt with Katrina.

Katrina Kosova hasn’t had it easy. Abandoned by her father and left alone with two siblings when her mother passed away, Katrina started modeling at seventeen in order to provide a stable home for her brother and sister. She hasn’t had time to really date or do the things most women her age are or have done. Beautiful, intelligent, and down to earth, she meshes well with the exuberant Grant. She tries to resist him but he bowls her over and soon she finds herself having a good time with him regardless of her hesitation.

“I had a nice time. Thanks”
“That was probably painful for you to say.”
[…]
“I never said I didn’t like you.”
“So you do like me.”
“I didn’t say that either.”

The romance starts slow, giving Grant and Katrina the time to get to know one another and see if something exists beyond their instant chemistry that zaps and zings between them. One aspect of Burton’s writing I always enjoy is her celebration of her couple’s sexuality. No fat or slut shaming in here. The “amorous congress” (I heard this expression last weekend and LOVE IT) is always consensual, mutually encouraged, and is never used to cure some past trauma. The physical scenes seem to be edging back into the racy and erotic which I admit to missing in the last few books.

Grant is a perfect gentleman out of bed but likes to get a little dirty and domineering in bed. Katrina, the lucky lucky woman, may not be as experienced but she is more than game to sample everything Grant can give her.

Oh that body. She felt every inch of it aligned with hers, and she wanted so much more. She dropped her bag and held onto his shirt, felt the mad wild beat of his heart against her hand as he pressed the kiss deeper, his tongue sliding against hers. She wanted to straddle him, to rock her center against his, to massage the thrumming ache he brought to life. That ache roared with demand and it wouldn’t be denied. She wanted to beg him to push open her door and get her naked, then lick her all over until she came a hundred times.

Whew! And that was just a kiss goodbye.

Dynamic secondary characters add humor and spice to the storyline, giving our lovers advice and a few nudges in the right direction. The Cassidys are very similar to the Rileys (the main family of the series) in that they are extremely sports and family oriented, however, the Cassidys don’t have the same dicey undertones. The Rileys had internal and external issues that needed airing out while the Cassidys seem more of a harmonious family unit. Grant’s brothers are hilarious and I love the texts they send him after a game. lol

Katrina’s brother and sister, Leo and Anya, are your average excitable teenagers who want the world for Katrina and strive to help Grant ease her out of her protective shell. Having raised them by herself for all intents and purposes, Katrina is extremely protective of them and having them meet Grant scares her.

“Grant Cassidy is coming here tomorrow? Cool.”
“I can’t believe you did that. Now I will have to call and cancel.”
“Why? Is he a dick?”
“No, he’s not. And don’t say dick.”
So, if he’s not a dick…”
“Anya, come one.”
“Okay. So, if you don’t dislike him, then you like him.”
“I didn’t say that either.”
“He has your phone number. And he seemed like a pretty cool guy.”
“Based on what? A five minute phone conversation?”
“More like three minutes, actually. But, he’s taking us out tomorrow. And we’re going. You don’t want to be rude and call him back now and cancel. Then you’d be a dick.”
“Oh my God. I don’t know what to do with the two of you.”

There is much love in both families and Burton melds them together with nary a flaw or upset. As stated earlier, the story is fairly predictable, with a majority of the focus on the blossoming romance and Katrina’s abandonment and independence issues. Grant uses himself and his family to show her that she can have it all if she is willing to let go of her fears.

This series continues to entertain and I recommend it to everyone who wants an erotic romantic contemporary series with realistic characters, emotional romances, strong friendships, and interesting lives that will keep you waiting for each installment. Even though each book in the series can be read as a standalone; some characters and situations bleed over.

Quarterback Draw (Play-By-Play # 9) - Jaci Burton

** Won an ARC from Authors website for an Honest Review.**

Grant Cassidy is a Ruggedly , Handsome Quarterback for the St. Louis Traders, who has no problem playing the Field .During a Game or in his Personal Life.
Until he meets a Beautiful, yet naïve model at a Photo shoot in Barbados and his world is turned upside down.

Can Grant tone down his womanizing ways in order to settle down with a family of his own?

Katrina Korsova is a Gorgeous Supermodel who works hard to provide for her younger siblings. Even if that means she has to forgo a personal life in the process.
She's not about to let a playboy into her life to distract her from her responsibilities , but she feels something a little more than just Physical Attraction to Grant.

Can Katrina Trust Grant with her family and her Heart ??

I'm really glad I won an ARC copy from Jaci Burton's Website.
I Love the Play-By-Play series. I own every single book and have all the Book Cover Postcards to go along with them.
THANKS FATIN !!
I enjoyed reading Grant & Katrina's story. It's full of Romance, intrigue, suspense, Hot ,Sweaty Alpha male's and some Sizzling ,Intense Love Scenes, Heartbreak and Longing.

This book is without a doubt what I needed and just hit the spot!!

I Loved Grants House. OMG...The Pool ! I so want to move in !!

I Adored meeting The whole Cassidy Family. Those scenes when Grant takes Katrina Home were Beautifully detailed and not to mention we got to meet the other Cassidy Siblings .

Jaci Burton continues her Play by Play series with book nine, QUARTERBACK DRAW. It’s another football player story, but oh no no Grant Cassidy isn’t just any hot quarterback, he’s also an absolute sweetheart as well. Grant doesn’t realize he is looking for the perfect woman for him until he meets Katrina Koslova. As a supermodel, Kat has the beauty and the brains to catch Grant’s attention, but this story isn’t your average jock meets beauty cliché.

What makes this story work for me is Burton’s style. There’s this realness to the characters that really comes across the pages and even though this is an erotic romance book, Burton doesn’t approach it that way. Yes, there’s a ton of steamy and downright dirty sex, but those scenes are always heavily steeped in emotion. Sometimes I feel that other erotic books start with the sex and build a plot around that. Burton steers clear of that here, making the romance the central part of the book. Grant and Kat’s romance blooms steadily, hitting the highs and lows of any real relationship.

When I think of Burton’s writing style, the word “mature” immediately comes to mind, but after more consideration the word “conscious” is a much better fit. With everything she does, Burton seems to make a conscious decision in her writing that also seems to come off in her characters as well. For example, a touch is not just a touch. A kiss is not just a kiss. There’s meaning behind it which I think in turn adds that depth to the series while creating very relatable personalities. As a result, Burton’s romances feel genuine and are more memorable.

As much as Burton focuses on the romance, she also plays up the concept of family. This book explores both Grant and Kat’s family. Kat is young, but she had raised her teenage brother and sister Leo and Anya alone for years. Burton also introduces Grant’s siblings, the next set of characters to get their stories told. All of them are absolutely amazing, making me excited and eager for their books.

QUARTERBACK DRAW is a touchdown of epic proportions. When it comes to Sports Romances, Jaci Burton is the genre’s Most Valuable Player.

I have to admit that I have been wanting to read this one for a while now. The blurb alone caught, and held, my attention.

We meet Grant Cassidy, a quarterback, on a photo shoot for a sports magazine. He is gorgeous, smart, and very interested in our heroine, Katrina Korsova. Katrina is a supermodel who has been everywhere for photo shoots but relishes the time she has to go home and stay with her brother (Leo) and sister (Anya). During the course of this story we also meet the rest of the Cassidy family. Grant has three brothers and one sister, who I hope all get their own story along with Leo and Anya.

But I'm getting off topic here. Grant is amazing and is very dedicated in his pursuit of Katrina. Katrina has her own emotional scars and thus has a difficult time accepting any relationships (not that she's had many).

I liked the relationship development. I think it progressed nicely, if at warp speed at times. The characters themselves were well developed for the most part although I felt that Katrina could have used a little more background information. Now, on to the plot overall. The story flowed nicely until about 90% of the book. All of a sudden we get this drastic turnaround from our main characters that are so out-of-character for them I had to go back and re-read those pages to make sure I understood what had happened. This last 10% of the story really threw me for a loop and seemed to detract from the story overall. It was an unnecessary drama that could have been solved by one conversation. That was another issue is that Grant and Katrina seemingly never had any meaningful conversations together.

Will I read the others in the series? Yes, I think I will but not right away.

Would I recommend this series to others? Yes I would recommend the series but with a few warnings thrown in.

Overall, I liked the book but it probably won't make it to my favorites shelf.

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 4 4/3
REVIEW:
Loved Grant! He was almost too good to be true. Until you met his family then you know why he is so very awesome. The Cassidy family is to die for. Grants 3 brothers (fingers crossed this means more books) are funny, smexy and very competive. Grant’s baby sister had to deal with 4 overbearing, trouble making, always competing older brothers I don’t think there is anything or anyone she can’t handle. Grant’s parents are the perfect pair. And the glimpse we get of their love story will make you smile, laugh and shed a little tear.

Katrina has not had it easy. She took over raising her little brother and sister at age seventeen. But she was determine to make their lives as good as she could make them. And honestly Katrina did a great job at that. Anya and Leo didn’t want for anything. Or at least that is what Katrina thought until Grant popped into her life.

Another amazing Play-By-Play novel by Ms. Burton. I totally loved Grant & Katrina from page one of this book. Even though this a typical hot sports star mets equally hot supermodel story, it honestly didn’t feel that way. I connected with the characters so much that what they did for a living was not an issue for me. Both are so down to earth that it made it very easy. I will say that the 1st Annual Cassidy football game was a riot to read about.

If you are a Jaci Burton fan I am sure you will love Grant & Katrina’s story! If you are new to this series. You could read this book as a stand alone. But why not start at the beginning and find out what sports stars are so yummy.

I want to say Welcome back! Finally!

When I read the description of the book - quarterback and supermodel - seriously? I expect another disaster. But I am very glad that I survived two previous books and read this. It back to what it was in the first part of Play by play series. I couldn't be happier about that.

If you have not read the previous parts you can safely start from this. Here we get to know a new Cassidy family. This is about Grant Cassidy. He has three other brothers and a sister. It could be a whole new series, we get a book about each of the siblings. There are some connections with the previous, but it's nothing important. But of course it is series and best read one after the other, if you have enough patience... of course :)

So Grant Cassidy.... I totally love the guy. He is the best, wonderful, funny, just perfect. Ideal book boyfriend. His whole family is going to be a really great and a lot of fun. And I admire his patience to this woman. The weakest part of the book is exactly Katrina... she is so annoying. Damn girl. You have such a great guy. What do you want? She also has a younger sibling - Leo and Anya, who are reared by her. And they also are amazing and a lot of fun. It's a great team and with Grant make a great book.

I am very glad that this book back to first level. And if you're a fan of the Play by Play series you will really like this one too.

Not one of her better efforts and not worth the outrageous pricing of her novels on Kindle/Nook.

The chemistry between the main characters was a little lacking. Because of this, I think, Burton's somewhat odd and stilted way or writing (not all the time, but sometimes...I find her to be a very uneven author) seems more pronounced.

The parts in Texas with the family were strong, and the meeting of the 2 characters was also strong. The stuff in the middle? Not so much. This was disappointing as I was REALLY looking forward to this one based on the blurb in another book. So, I was looking forward to it based on that and what I got was "meh" in the middle

Burton's strength in this book, and in her other sports books, is that she writes characters who actually live in the sports world. Grant goes to practice, plays games, etc...which is a step above the other authors. And, this is also why I will read the next one she writes in the series. Although, I think I will wait for it to be available in the library.

Quarterback Draw is a hot romance featuring the supermodel and the star quarterback, though neither fit your typical stereotype at all after you get to know them. Grant is a hottie that is for sure, but he is also a really great guy. Katrina has a lot of issues and has had a rough time of it, though she manages to hide it well, that is from everyone except Grant. Of course there is the romance, the chemistry, the hot sexy scenes, but there is also something additional in this book...it is rooted around family, namely Katrina's brother and sister. This provided for an entertaining and different type of story and was also something that made the book stand out. Then there is Grant's family, who were all awesome and opened up a whole new world to Katrina and her siblings.

I loved the journey Jaci Burton took the characters on in this story. If you love contemporary romance, especially sports-themed romance, then you are in for a treat. Check it out.

There's something off about the writing style of this book. The vocabulary and syntax don't read as consistent with J.B.'s Play-by-Play series style even after accounting for changes in story environment, mood, and unique characterizations.

Most of Katrina and Grant's relationship challenges seem self-manufactured and overblown. There's also a lot of coherent chat during the sex scenes. It undercuts the intensity of their chemistry. Quarterback Draw is still an easy breezy fun read.

[On page 67, Grant refers to the teens as "respectful" (begins a popular refrain throughout the story) after they've treated their sister with disdainful discourtesy, making me question the standard of measure for acceptable behavior.]

Edit: Tried to reread it and can't stand Katrina. DNFing it.

Original review:
I'm feeling quite conflicted over this story. I enjoyed the hell out of it, but there were quite a few times where I wanted to throw the book into a fire. Mostly each time Katrina tried to convince herself that being independent meant being alone and miserable. The time spent with Grant's family was the best part of the book. Jaci Burton should just write about the Cassidy Family because that was hilarious, they totally stole the show. I'd recommend this for anyone that likes contemporary romance where all the characters are sickeningly perfect, but you can't help but like them anyway.

Is it shallow to say that I absolutely love the covers for this series! These guys are super hot and sexy as all get out. Eye candy all the way.

This one involved footballer Grant Cassidy and supermodel Katrina Korsova. I liked Gran'ts approach and his overwhelming behavior towards Katrina. She's basically a stick in the mud (too busy being sensible and dependable to have any fun) and Grant forces her to think outside the modeling box. I loved the way he interacted with Leo and Anya. His loving family was fun too. All around a super quick read that was fun to read as well.

THIS IS AN HONEST REVIEW, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

2 stars - Adult Sports Romance

My heart just wasn't into it. I found the story's boring, the plot's predictable and kinda repetitive/similar to previous books , and I skimmed a lot and almost giving up. Anyway, i love the series, besides it's jaci burton and I'll devoutly waiting for the author to give me another car racer to read. Maybe someday in the future.

I've been so in love with Jaci Burton's Play by Play series -- with all her smokin' hot eye candy covers and almost too literal 'Greek gods of sports' -- I've now dubbed her as "Queen of Sports Contemporary Romances". I binge read the whole series from book one to book eight and honestly fell in love with every single one of these jaw dropping sport gods and their respective love affairs, and with Quarterback Draw, this book just made me fall in love with it more.

Although this book isn't as smoking hot as the cover implies, Quarterback Draw made me SWOON. The romance wasn't chart topping hot, but it was giggly sweet and I instantly fell in love with the characters just like how I did in the previous books. Quite similar to the first book -- The Perfect Play which features single mom Tara Lincoln and Quarterback Mick Riley -- Quarterback Draw features single mom Katrina Kolsova and Quarterback Grant Cassidy.

During a promotional photoshoot, Grant is paired with supermodel Katrina. He's dated his fair share of models, but Katrina doesn't seem to be anything like them, especially after she'd rejected his dinner invite. She wasn't being flirty either, but he's sure of the undeniable chemistry going on between them.

Katrina isn't your typical arm candy supermodel no matter how glamorous her life may seem and she isn't one to be caught up in celebrity drama when she's already got her hands full of her own life drama. As the legal guardian to her younger siblings ever since she was eighteen years old, they must come first, before her. She's excellent at her job, all for the sake of giving her siblings the good life they deserve. She's an outstanding heroine, and absolutely contradicts the stereotypical image of a model. Instead, she's strong, down to earth, fiesty, smart and one heck of a bookworm.

Meanwhile, Grant was another addition to the Play by Play perfect men. He didn't appear to be notorious or egoistical, nor was he standoffish or aloof. A gentleman, a total sweetheart and didn't at all come off as a dominating alpha male. He was the good boy who played sports that you could take home to meet the parents... and they'd surely love him. Not only that, he's also a family man and a natural with kids. Now, where do I sign up for my own Grant Cassidy? Hah!

What I love about the Play by Play series is how the stories don't just revolve around the main characters and their total attraction for each other, but rather, the books feature the essence of family, and not only have I been smitten by the main characters, but also the rest of the family members as well. They were a refreshing addition to the story, especially Katrina's younger siblings, Leo and Anya, and Grant's siblings who played sports as well (and it seems they're off to have their own book as well, with Tucker to be featured in the next book, All Wound Up).

This isn't my favorite of the series, but I can't deny that I enjoyed this read very much. I've read a lot of reviews of this book that implied that it was a boring read, but I beg to differ. Quarterback Draw is a sexy read that will surely make you swoon, so if you're looking for such reads, this one is definitely right up your alley.

Reviewed for herding cats & burning soup.

You know you've read a fabulous book when you get to the last chapter and you keep thinking... "not yet! Not yet! I'm not ready for it to be over!" and, yeah, that was totally me and Quarterback Draw. Burton just makes the sports romance junkie in me so very very happy. A model. A footballer. A sexy photo shoot in the tropics and a little cat and mouse chase? Oh heck yeah. Damn good time.

The quick of it is that Katrina and Grant meet up while on a photo shoot for a sports magazine and, well, Grant's interest...totally peaked. And he's totally on board with convincing the elusive Katrina to give him a chance. Even if he has to use her siblings--that she's raising--to help please his case.

Katrina was a heroine I just felt for. Everything about her gave me that little feeling in my gut. She's spent her entire adult life taking care of her two younger siblings after their mother passed. She works extremely hard and always puts her siblings first and she's missed out on a lot of life experiences because of it but never complains. I really liked her. She's incredibly strong. determined and tries so hard in everything she does. She's really just a beautiful person and one I so wanted to just reach out to and cheer on.

And Grant was just gorgeous. Pretty much if I was going to have someone make my perfect hero...it would be Burton. Goodnight but she can write an amazing lust-worthy male. He's pretty much got it all going for him. Sexy as sin, a true gentleman, killer skills on the field and fun loving off the field. He's thoughtful and just an amazing man. I loved that he always included her siblings in everything and never complained about having to share her time. He can be a little alpha male and took over her life a little without meaning to but yeah...total sexy beast of a man.

The two together. Scorching make a girl squirm good. From the second they met on the photo shoot electricity just sparked between them. They complimented each other well in and out of the bedroom. Brought out good things in each other. She mellowed him a little and he got her having a little fun. And were just lovely together as they figured things out.

There was a big emphasis on family which I absolutely loved. Both Kat with her siblings--who totally played the obnoxious bratty teens so well. And with Grant's parents and siblings who all happen to be sporty (which oh gave my heart a little flutter because omg so many more book options!). They're such good people and loved each other so much. I so can't wait for his brother's books. Gah but they're a yummy bunch of men.

All in all, Burton reigns supreme in the world of sports romances delights again and again with a beautifully heartwarming romance infused with heat, fun and spirit that just flow off the pages.

Blog rating: B-

Grant and Katrina meet during a photo shoot – he’s the sexy professional football player, she’s the gorgeous model and together they created chemistry on camera. But, Katrina is much more than a pretty face and doesn’t make it easy for Grant when he tries to get to know her better. Katrina had to grow up fast, raising her two younger siblings when she turned 18. She started modeling and had to become an adult very quickly and deal with way too many responsibilities. She’s never let herself have fun and Grant sets out to change that.

Grant’s attracted to Katrina and becomes even more so when he learns her story and that she’s the parent to her siblings. He doesn’t let Katrina’s walls stop him and he barges right into her life and the lives of her siblings, who welcome him a lot easier than Katrina does.

Grant and Katrina’s romance felt easy – they don’t have a lot of conflict to deal with, their biggest issue being Katrina having some daddy abandonment issues that she needs to work through. This is really the only angst the couple goes through and it felt a bit tossed in at the end. But leading up to this, we get to see Grant and Katrina slowly get to know each other and their families. I really enjoyed Katrina’s younger siblings and seeing them brought into the Cassidy family. There’s a lot of time spent at Grant’s parents ranch and being introduced to his brothers and sister (yay more siblings = more books!). This book follows the same type of vibe as the other Play by Play books. Everyone is so damn nice and sweet and even perfect. But there’s something about the big family scenes Burton writes that I always find myself really enjoying.

Grant and Katrina burn up the sheets, that is, after Grant takes care of Katrina’s virginity. She’s never done the deed, too busy with work, too busy with her brother and sister, but that doesn’t stop Grant, heh. In fact, I HATE putting this in a review but I’m going to anyway, I wish there had been a few less sex scenes. There’s nothing wrong with eluding to the sexy times and cutting it off page every now and then. It just started reading really repetitive and I started skimming through them.

That aside, I found this to be a nice, sweet read. There’s nothing that set me off in a bad way, but on the flip side, there was nothing that really made me stand up and take notice. I will say that I’ve got my eye on those other single Cassidy brothers and being a sucker for sibling-connected books, they will have me coming back for more.
